it depends on what Komodo meant by that comment. if it was 'it doesn't matter, since we are all equal' then that's fine, otherwise, I would tend agree with you guys, but still, no offence taken. it does take a lot to make me angry, and if I were, you guys would know about it, believe me.

Everyone says that! :p I would like to see a thread dedicated to being a safe haven for people to unleash their inner furies, where no offence could be taken and it could not be carried into other portions of the forums. Yes for social experiments!

^ I know, but I normally don't swear, unless it's in character in the RP. If I start swearing in a thread, you will know I'm angry.

I have to be honest and say that that link actually had me laughing. I do, to an extent, agree that "there are no women on the internet", but the last statement in that link, saying "tits or gtfo" is simply just an obvious joke to easen the earlier seriousness in the link.
Why? Because if there are no women on the internet, and you'd say "tits or gtfo", then you could say that there are no guys on the internet, and say "cocks or gtfo".

In other, simpler, words: Women have just the same intelligence, worth, rights etc etc on the internet as men do.
Simpler said: There are no genders on the internet ;)

Women have very little rights on the internet compared to men. It's not how it should be, but that's how it is. I've met many girls/women online who hide their real gender due to the amount of oppression they had to wade through in the past when they were being honest. Both in the gaming world and the online world, many males still act like cavemen when a woman steps in. The reason: everyone is (for the most part) anonymous on the internet, and the majority of people are sexist in one way or another, so your views aren't considered too extreme and you can spew all the sexist & homophobic hate you want.

*Sigh* Honestly, that's true. I can't remember how many times I've run across the net playing MMORPGS, and then seeing the sight of a girl being repeatedly picked on for either: a.) being a girl, or b.) being a guy playing as a girl.

It pisses me off because though anonymity is a GOOD THING, people abuse it for their own amusement. It's nothing different from griefing, aside from the fact that instead of ruining the experience of the person by cockblocking whatever they do, you walk up to them and basically slap them repeatedly for who they are, as if being you's a bad thing. You can curse at them, shout death threats or whatever, but it won't stop them from doing it all over again. Hell, they'll even be MOTIVATED to keep going.

They won't be hurt because it's not THEM you're cursing at, it's their usernames, their aliases.

And it pisses me off. Really, it does.

Taking amusement at the expense of another's is never okay for me.

I agree completely. Nowadays many people like to wear masks and the internet provides that for them. In real life, they may act like a reasonable person simply due to the fact that there are some things you can't get away with. But on the internet, they can be completely different people. Anyone can.

Agreed. But some of us remain who we are, both online and off.

  14. Oh come on, if that post was adressed at males, you would go along with it without batting an eye.

It doesn't matter if you are male or female on the internet, all are equal. Nobody gets any advantage and only your actual qualities matter. That's exactly what it says in the text.

Except not for you, because that was rude to people with vaginas and white knights got all defensive about it.

Actually I think that was more sexist to males than females. Not all of us are that shallow!

We're not white knighting, we just thought that was unnecessarily impolite.

    Funny video!

'Cos there's a problem with chivalry? Idk, I think respecting women and basic politeness is something that is missing in most guys..

yea, thats true, I think their was nothing wrong with the way Women were treated back in the good old days!

I think the problem started with the whole Womans rights thing, when women stopped doing woman things and started doing other things, then of course men wont be as polite to women as the women things arnt getting done. Or something like that xD

But ya, No chivalry these days, at all, sure its all good treating women as equals, but still, be polite, just not over the top

    Heard! :)
No seriously, I think a completely equal society would suck. The way it is now is acceptable, but if we made laws (I shit you not, some politicians want to do this) to have a certain amount of women in administrative jobs, it would be anything but equal, since men have no such law to "protect" them. Besides, women only have conscript rights and not conscript duty, so on that point there's actually a big negative for men. At the same time, women who choose to take science related bachelors are paid more during their college than their male colleagues.
So either we stick to the old ways, where a shovel was a shovel, or we make COMPLETE equality in absolutely every aspect. But then again, I guess most women don't like the conscription part, eh?
    Only
EDIT: And then there's the whole thing about maternity leave.
