I will be using third person because it is what I am used to in MMOs. You do bring up a good point that it helps see your surroundings better and provides a better game play. The elder scrolls universe has already been done in first person, so I am ready for third person.

Both camera views look pretty good, too bad the first person view seems a bit unstable at times. I tried both and the game seems pretty damn enjoyable with both modes, but most of the times I just play with the third person mode turned on, it helps me see better.

As a developer, there are a bunch of reasons to push your players to use first person. It gives the world more immersion... big things look big, stuff that you can´t see, you can´t see ( around corners etc). Also there are some performance savings as well as a ton of animation work that is easier.

But as a player, there is usually a big advantage to playing 3rd person. You can see a bigger area and thus be mroe tactical.

Totally agree with that. All I can add is just I prefer first person view for games like Skyrim, but third person view is better for games like Batman: Arkham Asylum. Also, check Chivalry: Medeival Warfare. Decent game with knights, archers, etc. first first person view. It's "new" for me to play game like that in that view, but I enjoyed it a lot! :)

I am okay with both the options. But third person is better as we can get a better view of the environment.

Just like the other Elder Scrolls games, I feel like I have better control over my character in 1st person view. Some games do well in 3rd person such as Word of Warcraft.

3rd person because I have motion sickness issues. But I also like seeing my character because why the heck bother with character customization if you're not going to look at them?

Third person. Forever. I love seeing my gear jingle around as I run and I love being able to see my gear in general. Honestly I feel like first person in MMOs is odd... and also because the physics engine in Elder Scrolls Online isn't the greatest compared to like, Skyrim or even Morrowind or Oblivion. (Barring older games because I don't think they had a physics engine.) So the combat is just a bit... "eh", in first person mode in Elder Scrolls Online. Not to say sometimes I don't like running around in it, but it's not preferable to third person.

Also in third person you have situational awareness, particularly when you're in an area rife with enemies and such, and not a lot of people around you. You're going to get owned at higher levels if you don't play in third person IMO, since you have to face your enemy to hit them, and trying to constantly look around for enemies and not being able to hit them due to turning.

I typically like first person because it allows for a higher level of immersion in the game.

First person for sure, It makes the RPG feel more like an RPG rather than a Control this character and make it do stuff game. It really puts you in the Role better. My opinion of course.

I know the benefits of third-person, but I definitely prefer the first-person view here.

First person all the way. That's how I played all the other Elder Scrolls titles and that's how I'll play this title. I also like playing First Person Shooter games, so that may be why I love first person this much.

I also have a problem with first person views. It just makes me feel like I'm missing something or that my view is somehow limited. I suppose I'm just used to the camera zoom from playing wow for eight years. I do zoom in for bow aiming and such. too bad they can't find a way to fix that so us third person junkies could have an easier time with aiming.

Assuming you're talking about ESO, probably first person, as I play all the other TES games. Third person just doesn't seem all quite there with TES games, don't know why.

Third person, definitely. First person gives me headache. I hate it when the camera shakes too much.

I personally prefer first person, just because it feels more natural. It always freaks me out when I switch into third person because I'm not used to actually looking at my character. Mind you, I generally play as a Mage, so its easier to aim spells from that angle then from looking on as an observer.

I would prefer first person just because I'm a first person player. I think it's subjective rather than absolute.

Another thing to keep in mind is stereo sounds. It is much easier for a developer to give audio clues if you are in first person because the audio listener would be located on the camera. With third person view, the distence between the camera and the character would lead to confusion for sound placement.

That's an important point. I still don't know though because there are good things about third person view.

In single-player ES games, I prefer first person, as animations are really clunky in 3rd. But in ESO, I need to be more aware of my surroundings, so I use 3rd person mode there, as FPS mode limits the FOV.
