First person or third person?

I would definitly use FPS. I find it annoying seeing my character walking around in the wilderness. I'd rather feel more immersed in the game by using first person.

Yeah, 3rd person is much better for strategy and for exploration.. you can see stuff that your character cannot see. But for immersion, you lose a lot of it if you can swing the camera around a corner and see the mobs before they can see your character ( or your character can see them).

I usually opt for first person view. The character animations are usually clunky and take away from the immersion when you look at your character from third person view. That's the only reason I prefer first person view, if the animations were better (like in The Witcher 2 for example) I wouldn't really mind.

Yeah, and it isn´t just if the animations are clunky or smooth, it is also just the repetition and lack of variety.. your character walks with exactly the same motion if you are walking in sand or on rock... or deep grass. Your character swings a weapon exactly the same way and it doesn´t matter how big the target is. There is no easy ( or affordable) way to solve that for a developer, and in the end, it is just distracting to me.

There is a fairly easy way I think, but it requires powerful computers. GTA IV had real-time computed movement animations instead of fixed motion-captured ones.
Also, in any mmo-like environment such as ESO, first person players always have a disadvantage over others, if FPS view is not forced upon everyone.

I feel like only real hardcore players enjoy first person. Third person is a huge advantage, being able to see everything around you and what not. What I don't like about first person is the restricted feeling. I have friends that won't even play World of Warcraft because there is no first person. I guess it really depends on the person, but for me, third person is a blessing and I probably wouldn't even bother playing elder scrolls of there wasn't any third person.

I enjoy third person when I travel, it's a lot easier to rotate your camera and to appreciate your surroundings/details of the game. When it comes to close quarters combat, I prefer to use first person especially with melee. I guess this also applies with mid/far range battles as well.

Do you also play in first person though?

I really like third person over first person but I don't mind either to be completely honest. I don't have any problem playing first person since I feel like you're having a much realistic experience.

First person, although I do get dizzy from time to time. But to me the point of these games has always been to roleplay, so what better way to roleplay than playing it in first person. Plus the third person camera in the elder scroll games always feels a bit.. off.

Really kind of depends on what the game is. It's always nice to get both first person and third in one game, but I guess if I had to choose it would be first person, because it is like I am actually there. It's got that POV vibe to it.

"Hardcore" might be putting it a bit strong, but I definitely think it has something to do with experience. It also has to do with playstyle, I think. I used to mainly play aggressive mage characters and first person freaked me out because I didn't have that advantage of being able to see behind me. Then I started playing stealth archers in Skyrim and now I feel like I can't see what I'm doing if I'm behind my character. Though I will switch to third for some combat, depending.

Funny enough, I used to daydream about how cool it would be to have third-person view in real life. Now one of the reasons I like about first person is that it's more immersive...aka more like real life. I came full circle?

I will definitely be playing in third person. When your are playing in first person, you can;t see your surroundings, enemies, or your cool armor as well. I always have trouble with enemies approaching me from behind and if I am surprised, it's harder for me to turn around and precisely target them. The only reason I would go into first person would be to aim with a bow.

Both seems really invitating and personally I will switch between them quite a lot. Maybe if I'm going to use a weapon like a bow or something the first person would be better while if I just have to wave my sword and shield then I would stick with the 3rd person as the fluency and the view is something that can't be left over.

3rd person hands down. The more of your surrounding that you can see, the more informed you are of what your next move should be. In my opinion, the highest FOV camera angle that you can get, is always going to be the best one.

I have to go with first person, man. I mean, how could you not? See, I only just started playing ELO on PlayStation a couple weeks ago, and they've patched and improved it so much, it's actually a slick, enjoyable little game now. I feel like pairing this brand with MMO was ultimately a great choice, and now that more people are playing, the social aspect is getting really fun. I love feeling like I'm in a standard Elder Scrolls game, and then this Dark Elf guy and Sorcerer girl come out of nowhere and help me take down a hard frickin boss. In those moments, my friends, everything is right in gaming universe, lol. :)

In Oblivion it's first person, but in Skyrim, it's totally third view. Personally I don't like how the Oblivion character look when he/she runs. It looks so unrealistic and spoils the entire role play experience. In Skyrim it looks a lot more realistic when in third person view, which is why I prefer it that way.

I don't know guys why you hate so much 3rd person.. I find it really useful when it comes to battle some group of enemies. You are able to look around and that's indeed a great advantage in my opinion that the game gives you.

First person, for the most part. It's more immersive, and I am more used to playing games in first person.
