Exactly, plus even if a game was made for 3rd person, you can still incorporate a first person view. Apart from seeing the character's hands and such, there isn't too much difference other than camera angle. I know that Skyrim offered both, but I found myself playing it in 3rd person 99% of the time.
Maybe they could put a first person mode when you aim down the sights, like Metal Gear Solid V. That's an idea.
^I'm almost sure that's going to be a thing. Ghost Recon had that feature, and from what I've seen, The Division takes quite a few things from that series.
Although I prefer first person shooters, third person shooters aren't necessarily bad. I feel like I have more focus and accuracy in first-person.
You're absolutely right. If it wasn't for the name, I'd say that The Division was a Ghost Recon spin off. But Ubisoft is ALSO making a new Ghost Recon game, so it's all weird now. Ahah
Yeah, I thought it was a Ghost Recon game when it was first revealed. The Division seems to be more futuristic and set in a more dystopian version of the world though. That might be why they decided to branch off and make an entirely new game.
I personally prefer first person shooter and I think it'd be awesome if they were to include that in the game, but hey whatever really. It's great to try out new things. I'll probably get used to it after a few days of playing, so I'm not too worried.
