My first RPG was Final Fantasy VII, I didn't know what is RPG until my friends were talking about it and say how fun RPGs are. They recommended me FF7 and I bought it, played it a bit but got stuck at one spot, and didn't finish it until after I finished Breath of Fire 3.
Mine was Pokemon Yellow on the Gameboy Colour. Although I was really young at the time and actually got stuck when I had to teach one of my Pokemon the HM cut. Sadly my sister and I could never figure out how to cut down that tree.
The first RPG I played was Final Fantasy Tactics. I had a great time with it, and it was indeed very deep. Graphically inferior, the storylines are thread bare (at best) but the combat and advancement systems are top notch. Most people thought it is a simple game, but believe me, it is not as simple as you think it is.
The original Final Fantasy on the NES was my very first RPG. I was hooked on that game for a long time and it really made me fall in love with the RPG genre. I didn't really get into western RPG's until Diablo came along though.
Mine was Baldur`s Gate 1. I did not even know what RPGs were at the time. But that game made me play mostly RPGs for the last 15 years or so.
I see some of you guys have played some really old games. My first RPG was Diablo 1, not the oldest game but a great way to start off my RPG career!
The first RPG I ever played was Diablo for the PlayStation. I loved the soundtrack and all of its magical world. I really got in to the lore of Diablo and it has made me the RPG gamer nerd I am too day. Me and my friends could yap about diablo for years without getting tired of it.
