Gamers, did you ever regret all the hours spent on playing?

No I have never regretted any hours, because I have loved every game I have played and still playing. I have so many gaming options it is unreal. I own everything from a DS to a console, so I am always gaming one way or another haha.

Yes and No. I don't really regret it, but I've been told by many people that it's "a waste of time" and that I should be doing "worth while" things. Which is silly, because if I'm having fun and enjoying myself it's worth while. But sometimes I get a little swept up and end up spending an entire day playing the game, and don't get anything else done, which is not that great.

I only regret it if I played a game that wasn't worth the money I spent. Luckily, I usually fix this by sending it back to the store and getting my money back so I can spend it on something else. Other than that, I have no regrets while playing since I know when it is time to take a break and do something else so I won't waste all of my time on that one game.

Not really. I spend time doing things I enjoy, like videogames. I don't put considerable amounts of time into things I do not have fun doing. I mean yes, I've regretted buying certain bad videogames, and even have some regret playing specific games, but as a whole, videogames are a huge part of my life and I don't think I would give them up for anything.

Nope, it's never happened for me to regret having played a game or games for countless of hours. I know that all of those hours were leaned toward my personal joy and time occupation, so why would I regret something focused especially on me? :)

Not at all. If you are an avid golfer you spend time AND money doing that. I don't think many golfers would say that they regretted their time doing that. I think MMO's only get this because many people have been known to let them consume their lives. I'd say if you spend your childhood playing a game rather than making friends then yes, regret would be atop the list.

Nope. No regrets if the outdoors of your current environment is nothing but depressing fields of corn and soybeans. I come from a state of evergreens, mountains and cold oceans. So if I can't enjoy the great outdoors then I sure as hell am going to try and escape from cornfield hell even if that means locking myself up in a virtual world.

Naw fuck it, what else would I be doing honestly. Gaming is fun and all the time I put into it is just the greatest because I'm happy doing it.

I don't regret the time I spent playing video games in the slightest. They help me relax and have fun, so why feel bad about that?

I can see why some people might regret it, though. I know a guy who missed a chance to see his dying father because he was playing a game. He did not know that would be his last chance to see his dad alive. He was so torn up about that for a while.

It's all about priorities, I suppose.

Wait, what? What's the story? Can't imagine that someone couldn't stop playing for a while just to pay a short visit to his/her own dying parent o_O.

I won't go into specific details out of respect for his privacy, but this was a guy who had to travel about 2 hours to the hospital (so a total of 4 hours travel time) to see his father. On that particular day, he was tired so chose to stay home and game while planning to see his dad the next day :(. To clarify, he had already visited his dad a few times but still beat himself up because he didn't take that last chance.

I'm sorry to be so vague lol

Obviously, it would have been healthier for me if I spent more time outside and/or with my friends but I really enjoyed all my time playing games and experienced so much cool stuff. After all, life is about enjoying it and I enjoyed the games I have played and the time I have spent playing them. So over all, no. I don't regret it

Regret all the time I've spent gaming? No way, dude. :) To be perfectly honest, I chose for myself a career path that will likely never earn me much, but which will always keep me close to the things I love. Good storytelling is what makes my life worth living. Novels, movies, video games, comic books, it doesn't really matter how I digest them, good stories are what fuel me. And the greatest thing about video games is that no matter what you're playing, ultimately, the story is all about you. I love densely plotted narratives in games, but I also like games without any written story at all, because I'm the hero and this is my tale, you know what I mean? So essentially, I'll be gaming as long as I feel the need to disappear into someone else's world. That will basically be until the day I die. :)

Not to mention the social aspect of the whole experience, right? All the years I've been gaming, my friends havn't been playing outside, they've been gaming with me. This is the single most popular form of entertainment for people like us. Someday the games we grew up on will be held up as classics right alongside the collected works of Shakespeare and Spielberg, lol. :)

It is funny to me when older people complain abotu the amount of time young people play video games. back then, people used to be in front of the TV from 5pm to 9pm every night. It is why TV dinners were invented.

I have never regretted using my spare time on gaming, I wouldn't have the job I do today hadn't it been for my interest in how games work and the technical details (I'm a programmer) and I can't thank gaming enough for that. It's my favourite hobby and a large part of my life. I would never call it wasted time.

Naw, I certain don't regret all the hours I spent gaming. I enjoy spending my time gaming and it has gotten me more interested in the field of technology. There are certainly some hours that could've been spent better rather than sitting in a lobby waiting for it to fill however. Overall I'd say they were well enough spent as a means of relaxation to justify the time.

I really hope that will happen sometime in the future. I`m really sick and tired of having arguments with my friends and family about the fact that gaming is a true artform, as much so, as any other form of entertainment. But sadly, as it is right now, older generations still regard gaming as a waste of time that only little kids do.
