Gamers, did you ever regret all the hours spent on playing?

No, if I am having fun, I am having fun. Further, it's usually time spent interacting with other people. If you enjoy something, why regret it? Especially if it has no negative side effects.

well that's not the case for me, I spent some hours from my age on gaming but not the whole days ! I just play when I have free time and when I have nothing to do, some people are addicted to games and are spending their all days playing and forgetting about the world and abotu what we were born for, games are just ways to have fun and enjoy the free time :)

There have been times when I've regretted playing games so much. Times like when I was 5 hours into a group dundgeon effort in World of Warcraft and it turned out 2 of my team members where kids who got called away to eat their dinner. So I' stuck in the dudgeon trying to battle my way out. Yes, that totally sucks. Otherwise no, because I choose to play games and if I thought it was a waste of time and do something else.

Well, for the most part, no. I have enjoyed most of the hours of entertainment I have gotten from playing video games.

I never regret spending time on playing games. I mean, its something that I have fun doing, something that I really enjoy. I am able to make friends with people across the world, and do fun stuff in games like questing or doing dungeons, or even pvping. Even if it's a game that you don't play anymore, as long as you had some fun in it, I don't think its a waste.

Actually I don't since nowadays I play very little so I spend more time with my hobbies and friends although a couple of years ago I could have spent more time with those things if I haven't played so much. But I am not implying that gaming would be useless since you can learn many kinds of skills with it. I have most importantly learned English.

Never once did I considered all these hours spent on gaming as time waste. I gamed all these years by my own conscience & abide by it. After all, "Time spent enjoyed is not Time wasted."

At some point in my life, I was completely addicted to PC games. It was at first FPS games, then I moved to RPG (namely Neverwinter Nights, playing online only), then Lineage 2 which was a hardcore MMORPG. At the worst part of it, I was sleeping very little, playing the game any chance I got, and thinking about it when I couldn't play it. It was bad lol.

However, I do not regret all the hours I spent on playing the games. If anything, I would say it was good old days.

On the other hand, I have more self-control now. I believe everyone should put their work/study/life/health first, before using the remaining time for entertainment (gaming included).

Nope, I don't regret the time spent one bit. In fact its time well spent. At least I'm not out spending all my money, shopping. :D Shopping is my vice.

Both yes and no. Generally it can be said that while I'm gaming I'm wasting time that could be used to develop real life skills. On the other hand it's a great stress reliever.

I think some little pint of regret goes in spending countless hours in front a screen. You tend to ask yourself "What if I went out and see the sky today?" but then you realize, only five more minutes for the next club war.

Nah, never. Sure, I might have missed some social interactions or whatever, but the fun I had gaming was something immense and I don't think no amount of going out or whatever could ever replicate that.

No, I do not regret it. Playing WoW is something my husband and I did while he lived out of state. We would play together, he would come rescue my little squishy warlock, and we would discuss the housing options for when I moved with him. We would also sit side by side and play while I was on bedrest with our youngest. Sure, I could have taken up knitting or something, but this was something we could do together. Even now, he will play video games with our oldest daughter, and that's their bonding experience-- it works, especially if the weather is crappy out! I'm sure there were days, hours, maybe weeks where we all could have done something....more. Or different. But we have those memories together, and for that, I can't regret.

Sometimes I've thought about "Instead of spending my time in game trying to reach some digital achievement, I should've used that time for other things that are much more productive." Even so, I had fun while I was playing. Even if it's just for a digital achievement, I spent my time how I wanted to so it's not really wasted.

It's fine to kick back and play games since I'm having fun. I wouldn't want to be plagued by thoughts like "I should stop playing this is so wasteful of my time" while I'm playing.

Good point. The only moment of "regret" I can consider is where I've had to seriously rep-grind for a piece of gear....and then it gets replaced the next raid. It's like, really? I just spent (X amount of time) trying to get (Y piece of gear) just for that?!?!?!

It's a hobby, so no, I don't regret it. I don't get how you would feel regret over something you enjoy doing in your own free time. Sure, in theory you could spend time doing something "more productive". But in most cases, you'll be watching TV, movies or reading a book. I work all day, so when I get home I want to unwind. I don't want to do more productive things, that's what I've done all day.

Time enjoyed is not time wasted. Many games have social and educational aspects that one may not encounter otherwise as well.

I always look back and go, "Oh my god, how much time did I spend on this game??" until I remember I actually enjoyed the time I spent on it. It seems bad in retrospect, but if it makes you happy, it makes you happy.

Of course I do. I think that we all do at some point, and I know that I had a big moment a couple of years ago when I was playing the game for about two days straight and I thought that I had all of my school work done, only to realize that there was an assignment that was due the next day that I definitely scraped together last minute and the grade really suffered. From then on I always try to double check my assignments.

To be honest, I used to hate myself for spending hours and hours on a game. I felt lazy and unproductive. The more I played, the more I hated myself, but over the years, I have learned that gaming hardcore is just fine as long as it doesn't affect your life in a negative way. You have to find a balance and make sure you do not let real life slip away. When I first started playing games, like World of Warcraft, I spent more time on it than I did in the real world and found myself becoming increasingly depressed. I spent more time making in-game money than real life money, which needless to say, hurt me financially. I took a long break from gaming in general and although, I did feel better about myself, I was incredibly bored, so I went back to console gaming at first. I played for an hour a day then once I had that handled, I went back to MMORPG's. I set aside one day a week to do nothing but game. It makes me feel like I still get to "waste" time playing games, but still keep my responsibilities in check. I don't regret gaming at all, but I do wish I could have learned moderation in the very beginning.
