Getting more people on a server?

    Put it on voting forums, also you can go to other servers and advertise.

    I'd have to agree with using a website IP address, and then actually running that same website to generate more interest. Market the website and by extension the server in this manner, and you should see plenty of new members after awhile.

    People like to join unique servers and those that have friendly staff. You should try finding a unique modpack that would make your server stand out from the rest or try to advertise you server the regular way and try spread out the word that you have the friendliest community.

    That is the one reason I never made a server, because it is way too stressful to get new people. Just put signs up everywhere in your neighborhood, maybe that will do the trick! I wouldn't just advertise on just Minecraft Forums, I would sign up to all gaming forums and then advertise. I have never met a gamer that didn't play or has played Minecraft.

    Advertise on many different forums, make sure the content is fun and your server isn't laggy, do events etc!

    Okay, well there is a small lag problem at the moment, but that's because of some messed up hosting and I'm working to fix that ASAP (but obviously there's only so much I do, I don't host them myself, I pay some company $$$/month for them to)
