Graphics, Gameplay or story - which is more important?

Well consider this, what if you're not playing on a high end PC, then you'd have to set the graphics to minimum and then you'd have to rely on the story line and the gameplay. So, even though the ideal would be a good balance of all three elements I'd have to say story line, then game play, with graphics being important, but not as important as the rest...

Graphics are almost never the most important. If they were then games like FF7 never would have been become as popular as they are..

It's odd when I see posts by people who say graphics is the most important element of a game. How could it be more important than game play and fun factor? The primary purpose of a game is to pass time while having fun.

For me, it goes like this: game play > story > graphics/music/ambiance

Story is absolutely the most important aspect for me. Story and Character development. They're definitely the main reasons that I play RPGs. Some of the combat systems can be pretty meh for a lot of games but I'll still play through them because I want to know what happens to the characters.

mix of story and gameplay, i can deal with substandard graphics if everything else is making up for it!
