Have you ever been hacked?

I've been hacked once they didn't take anything though it was strange. I think they were using my account for dupeing because when I logged in my Inventory was filled with the same item. Luckily blizzard caught them before they could do any real dmg.

 

Yes, and it was a reason I got an authenticator because they could not get all my stuff back. Since getting the authenticator, no problems.

 

No I have never been hacked, I always e-mails from Blizzard and I am wary of ones that don't look official.
I also bought an authenticator not long ago and I feel incredibly safe now. I think that it's mandatory to have one, be it physical or digital, if you care about your account.

 

No, never, and I hope it never happens. I never click shady link or anything like that.
When I'm not sure about something, I usually just back off.

 

Yes, twice now. My old account was hacked into numerous times. I got it recovered but I had stopped playing by then so the recovered items in my mailbox expired.

With my new account, I had someone make two new gold spammer characters on different servers that earned me a 3 hour ban. Luckily they didn't touch my actual character. I have no idea how they got into my brand spanking new account though as my computer is squeaky clean of viruses and I scan with multiple scanners on a regular basis. I have added an authenticator since then. I blame Blizzard and think they are just being hacked into on their end, but displacing the blame on their customers because they can.

In any case, an authenticator is a must for this game. You will be sorry if you sink countless hours into a character only to have it lost one day to a chinese gold spammer.

 

Yes. I had some gold-seller hack my account and broadcast on one of my characters in trade chat. This, of course, got me banned - fast. I was able to recover my account after approximately a week of hassling Blizzard.

 

It happened to me once, and I'm not sure how. It was, however, the impetus for me getting an authenticator.

I was playing one evening, and I randomly got booted off. I logged back in right away, played for about 15 minutes, and then got booted off again. This repeated a few more times, and then finally when I went to log in, it said my password was changed. Freaked out, I quickly went to the Blizzard website, changed my password (to something new) and then immediately added an authenticator. The whole process took about 20 minutes, but when I logged back on there were a bunch of new characters created with random names. Thankfully all of my stuff was still there.

 

Once I've left a friend of mine play with my mage account. Few days later, banned. That was a wise lesson I might add!

 

Yes, multiple times.. lol. I was younger and stupid but so I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I was never huge into WoW so I didn't really care. I must have started over like 30 times but I was never a hardcore WoW gamer

 

I was hacked about 5 years ago now I believe. I really don't know why or how it happened, as I'm fairly good at avoiding account sharing or revealing any details about my account, but I think it was because of a link on the official wow forums. Who knows though. When you think about it, getting hacked once in 7-8 years isn't bad at all. I'm glad it hasn't happened more, it's never a good feelings.

 

I've had a couple of periods where Steam keeps sending me emails stating that my password reset attempt has been received. It's annoying because it makes me think that someone is trying to get into my account.

 

My wow account was hacked once a few years ago. They cleared out my gold and disenchanted all of my epics, lol.

 

I was hacked once. I was a brand new player. I'm not sure what the hacker thought he/she would achieve. I actually felt bad for the poor slob.

 

I have never been hacked fortunately, I try to be very careful not to share any personal details as well as avoiding clicking any suspicious links. I know a few people who have been hacked, I think the worst case was when a guild officer was hacked and the hacker was able to empty the whole guild bank.

 

I haven't but I'm pretty strict on security. Passwords, secret questions, not being stupid, ... is all it takes to have a secure account. I have no idea if someone ever tried to get into my account but I don't think so.

I also didn't have any really impressive gear so this might be the reason no one was interested in my account.

 

I've been hacked once, but the characters were deleted before I got the account back. Got a free epic flying mount out of it.

 

I guess you can say I was hacked if you count that time when one of my "friends" who I trusted enough to give him my password (he would do stuff for me when I was away) deleted one of my characters when we had an argument. More stupidity on my part than hacking, but still.

 

I had someone gain access to my account about 5 years ago. I called up support and they had things straightened out in no time. After that incident, I added an authenticator and haven't had any problems since then. To this day I still have no idea how anyone gained access to my account but I wiped my computer clean and reinstalled everything to be sure.

 

No, I haven't been hacked because I use to play WoW only on private servers.

 

In the eight years I've played WoW, through all three of my accounts, I have never been hacked once. Not only do I use strong passwords, but I have a premium virus scanner which I scan my computer often. I also don't stupidly click on shady links or blindly download apps to my PC. I don't have questionable friends that I share my accounts with either.

Note that I do NOT have an authenticator. I never needed one.
