The Assassin's Creed series and Watch Dogs are the only experiences I've had with Ubisoft. However what I've seen from them has given me hope for The Division to be done well. However I have a ton of friends who don't trust them to deliver on all their promises when it comes to the game because they've felt let down by the company when it comes to the longevity of a game. There's always a lot of hype with their new games but a ton of friends are skeptics when it comes to seeing if The Division will deliver.
Thats the problem with hype, you're either going to get exactly what you've been promised and not think anything more of it, or the game will not live up to the hype on release and then everyones annoyed at the developers and wont trust them again in the future.
I have only really played Watch_Dogs and Assassins Creed. I really hate what happened with Unity but still am optimistic for Syndicate, time will tell I guess I just really hope that nothing too bad goes wrong with it.
It's bizarre how disinterested I am towards the Assassin's Creed series now. Syndicate is probably going to be fine, but I just can't get myself to be hyped about the new releases. The last one I enjoyed was Black Flag but I was already getting bored of the series. Who knows when I'm going back to play these games again.
Yeah AC1 is great, except for the repetitive nature of the game it's still one of the best games to come out at that time and they doubled it with the release of AC2. My only complaint about the AC games though is the lack of a solid stealth mechanic. I loved the idea of using stealth in the first game because it's something really different from crawling to shadows and hiding in boxes, but as the games gets release they tend to forget about the stealth aspect, only hinted at.
I'm guilty of having obsessively played Assassin's Creed. Every game will experience its share of bugs, and some of Ubisoft's were amusing. In the way of game mechanics, Ubisoft is generally on par with what I expect. I have, however, fallen out of the Assassin's Creed craze up to this point due to story issues. I disliked where they took Revelations. While Black Flag's modern day scenes were interesting, Ubisoft decided to focus more on delving into the Animus than explaining the repercussions of Revelations on the modern world (at least in my opinion). I completely forewent Unity and Rogue (of which I'm glad I ignored the first one after the horrible reviews) though now Syndicate has caught my eye as a possibly good game for which to return to the series. Aside from AC, I've played Enchanted Arms on the 360 and a little bit of I Am Alive. Enchanted Arms is the complete opposite problem for me--it has a wonderful story but requires tedious level grinding in the endgame (I hate level grinding). It's battle system is a bit strange as it goes by the turn-oriented battle square system of which I'm not a huge fan. I Am Alive, on the other hand, is a beautiful and unforgiving game and I really should work on finishing it...
I've played quite a few of Ubisoft games, and a few of them are among the best games I have ever played. They've been disappointing me a lot in the last couple of years, but every time they announce a new game I can't help but get excited about it.
Which Ubisoft has disappointed you in the last few years? Personally I felt that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was one of the best of the series, and it was only released in 2013. I'm not picking on you, I'm genuinely curious.
Assassin's Creed Unity, Watch Dogs and The Crew are the ones I can name off the top of my head. Unity was very buggy on release, and even though they fixed that I still felt like it wasn't nearly as good as it could have been. Watch Dogs was just disappointing in its entirety. It showed so many cool features in the trailers, but in the end it lived up to none of them. It felt like a lazy mix between GTA and Assassin's Creed. The Crew just didn't click with me. I spent a few hours on it, but I got bored pretty quickly. Which is sad because I was really looking forward to it. I do agree on AC4 being one of the best in the series though. I wish the story was better, but I can forgive that because of how much fun gameplay is. I'm not saying every game they've released in the past few years have been bad, but the ones I was most looking forward to were, sadly.
Hmm... I have. Mainly the Rayman titles and Ghost Recon Online (now known as Phantoms). Other than those, I have not played any other Ubisoft titles.
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag was not only the last good AC for me, but also one of the best ones in the series. Have you heard about how AC Syndicate is supposedly a mess? I've heard some hands on articles and they say that it has tons of problems and could be another AC Unity situation. I can't believe they're seriously going to do the same mistakes again. Then again, the articles are about a build of the game that's not complete, so I hope it turns out fine when it releases.
It's way too early to call Assassin's Creed Syndicate a mess, let's give it a chance to release, lol. It'll have a day-1 patch to help it, I'm sure.
Most of the bigger Ubisoft titles I've played have been thrown out already, so I'll go with Child of Light. It's a fun little side-scrolling RPG with a fairy tale vibe to it. The graphics look like they're cut outs from a kid's book. It's a neat, innocent romp that'll tie you up for ten hours or so. Fairly impressive for the low price.
I've heard good things about Child of Light, but I haven't gotten around to buying it yet. Have you ever played Riviera The Promised Land? That's one of my favorite RPGs and if Child of Light is anthing like it I'll be looking forward to playing it.
I've played a little of it, and it's an amazing title. Can't recommend it enough if you are a RPG fan who enjoys character interactions and development.
Child of Light is one of the better games Ubisoft has released in recent years. It's a ton of fun and not even that long even if it's an RPG, it ends right before it starts feeling stale. Highly recommend.
Oh, I'm definitely getting it the next time it's on sale then. I don't have time to spend on a 60+ RPG anymore, so this will hopefully scratch that itch.
I feel bad for you, spending 60+ hours on an RPG is the best. I know what you mean though, as we grow older, it's harder to have those long gaming marathons. Thank you all who recommended Child of Light; I had kind of heard about it, but never checked it out. I will now!
Hah, I feel bad for myself as well. The Tales series, Final Fantasy and a lot of other RPGs were a huge part of my childhood and I always marathoned them. I wish I could still do it, but sadly I have to be responsible.
I hear ya, sometimes real life gets in the way. I find that I'll sometimes watch YouTube videos instead of certain games because I know I don't have the time to figure it all out, so watching a no commentary play through is a good alternative, since you can watch it in chunks. I'm watching someone play the Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD right now actually, lol.
