How cool would it be to add pirates to minecraft?

    I think it could be a good idea but only if it was optional, something you could turn on and off.
    I sometimes like to roleplay as a lone survivor so it would be a problem to keep running into pirates.

    The oceans aren't expanded much on, anyways. There are no special things to find underwater, as in, there's nothing that gets generated underwater which is interesting - Traveling by boat is usually a safe way to avoid mobs and etc.

    Adding pirates would only make the oceans unreliable, you have to make oceans worth something.

    Umm... I don't know. The ocean is really safe and I think there should be a threat, but I don't know if pirates would be the way. I don't want to be on my boat, in the ocean, listening to some music and next thing you know, BAM! A cannon hits be and breaks my raft. Not cool.

    Well I think that it's a fantastic idea actually if it would be well refined then it would be a nice addition to minecraft.

    I think it would be better to give the possibility of players becoming the pirates. Have mine entrances in the middle of the sea and allow big structures made of wood to move like boats. Put sharks into the game and whales, that way players would be interested in being pirates themselves and it would create a much better atmosphere for the entire game. I would love to be a pirate in Minecraft and I know some of you would too.

    Wow, that would be real funny. Suddenly, a pirate ship comes out of nowhere and starts blasting TNT cannons at you, that would just be damn awesome. I hope this gets added in the snapshots or a mod!

    I don't think pirates would be that good, maybe as a mod, but not in the actual game. I do agree that the oceans are fairly boring though.
