How many have you quit?

I have quit a long time ago from this game. It's addictive as hell, so I don't want to go back to it now.

I play this game off and on. So I can't really said I flat out quit. But I can say I don't put the same emphasis on the game I once did. There was a time that WOW was solely the only game I played.

But once I started trying the f2p games as well has put my energy into FF14, my attention for WOW started to fall off. I know I'll go back to it eventually, I just have other games in the forefront right now.

I've been playing since 2006 and I've never quit the game. There may be a week or two (or 4) that go by that I don't play, either because I'm too caught up in another game, too busy with work, or traveling). My husband quit twice now and came back, but the last time he quit was 6 months ago and he's in grad school right now so he's not going to have time to come back until he graduates. During Winter Break he plans to stick to Diablo III primarily.

I quit the game a while back, when the grind got to be too much and the game got too repetitive. What put the nail in the coffin for me is when they made the Burning Crusade expansion. If I could enjoy the game just by fishing and the PvP in the Batttlegrounds, but I really think that the destruction caused by BC and Cataclysm would really bother me.

I started to play this game a while back (don't really know what year it was) and I have been playing it on and off for a while. I didn't really want to quit, but sometimes I just don't have the time to play it as much as I want. I know a lot of people that have stopped playing this game completely, because they think that it just consumes their lives.

I never understood people that get so consumed by the game. I love playing it, but I've certainly never let it consume my life. I've been playing it since 2006 and since then I actually got married, bought a new house, and have been building and growing my consulting business - so it certainly doesn't have to consume your life if you don't let it.

I started playing when i was 12. 9 years later, I have tried to quit once. When Cross realm zones came out, and hyjal to the twilight highlands became unplayable due to rampent ganking. I got ganked more trying to level in hyjal, than I got ganked all my other times in wow. I just got sick and tired of playing.

With the launch of draenor, I am taking a short break. To save up the money to purchase the expansion. Not to mention, to wait out the player rush, a tun of glitches, and the ddos attacks.

I quit like 4 years ago and started back this summer with my favorite expansion, Wrath. But with WoW its like an on and off thing and it has been over many years ever since I started playing in 2006 with a few friends. You had periods when you were obsessed with it, then you did what you could mostly go and got bored, then new expansion came out, again obssession over new content and nostalgia for the old stuff and enjoyment. Even for a now-casual-gamer WoW is still what it is, ya know? its the godfather of MMO's and you will always come back to it :)

I've mentioned this a few times in relation around the forums but I did quit once a few years ago since at the time the game had little to no interest to me. It simply wasn't my type of game. To be fair, I didn't even make it to level 5 back then. I felt no kinship to the game and it felt like every other MMO out there at the time. However, I'm back now, and my tastes have changed immensely. WoW is still very much like several MMO's but now I enjoy playing games like it.

I never tried to quit WoW, but I do scale back my playing times from time to time. Obviously, I can't spend every hour playing the game.

Apparently I don't take my gaming quite as seriously as you do. But I understand what you are saying about leaving and coming back time and again. I have done this off and on since 1999 with Ultima Online. Athough I never found old friends again when I went back, I still remember some of them. As for WoW, I started it the same year you did. I remember my clan (or whatever World of Warcraft calls them) leader was a really nice guy. For me I need just one game to hang onto at a time. It was Ultima, then WoW, Warrock and then Star Trek online. Then rinse and repeat.

WoW is one of those games you can't just completely walk away from haha. They're constantly adding new content to the game. Not only that but it's easy to remember just how much fun you had/have with the game. I stopped playing for the most part at the end of Cata. However I still come back for new releases for a bit, just to see new content and catch up with old friends.

Lately, I've been more busy with school work. I have not completely quit. I guess I just realized that there are more important things I need to take care of as a young adult. Yes a lot of people play WoW to relate, but I think it's important to find other friends who have different but equally interesting hobbies. I like giving my life variety and being social, and I need to balance it with gaming.

I have stopped playing the game a few times, I just get bored after a while. I always come back to it though, and I've never quit because I started hating the game, it just began to feel repetitive after playing it so much.

I'm actually a bit new to WoW compared to other players, but I've quit twice in 2 years. The first time I quit was because my friend quit, and we were doing a whole co op thing. I continued to play 2 months later by myself, and I got back into it. Eventually I quit again, and now I don't really play WoW a ton.

I quit mid-way through Cataclysm and just came back a month before Warlords (yes I bought Pandaria about a week before they made it free :( )

I quit about two years ago, or whenever Cataclysm came out... that expansion ruined the game for me because I didn't like not knowing where anything was in Orgrimmar, or other places. I was too grumpy and stuck in my ways, unfortunately. However, WoW is a game that always comes back to haunt me. Whenever I think I'm over it, I remember it and get that undeniable urge to play it. I got to level 85, and that was as far as I could muster. The thought of getting to 90 sort of is exhausting.
