I'm sure we can all say we've put too much money into wow. If it's worth it? Well, honestly it was worth it while it lasted, but looking back, the 800 or so dollars on time cards could have been put into better areas of my life. Sure, WoW is super fun yet it's not only a money investment, but a time investment. I feel like I've wasted a lot of time on WoW and could have done a lot with that time and money! :(

Well, I don't think compared to others it is all that much. I only had one account, and I had it active for about 15 months cumulative (some breaks in between). For the life of me, I can't remember actually paying for Cata, I'm pretty sure when I started playing it was included in the bundle or whatever, but I might be wrong. I know I paid for MoP which is when I started playing, during that era lol. I haven't bought WoD and have no near future intentions on it. Apart from that, I've bought a mount, a cinder kitten and a few TCG packs in hopes of rare items (nothing special..got the floating book a couple of times and some trail of flowers). So all in all, I would say less than $400 and probably even less than $350 really, which is amazing for nearly a year and a half of entertainment PLUS extra items.

Wow. That's a heck of a question there. I don't really think I want to figure up just how much I've put into the game between buying all the expansions, a couple of those being collectors editions, paying the monthly fee, buying trading cards for the loot, making a couple of micro transactions, and some character transfers and such. Yeah, I really don't want to think about how much I have paid on the game.0

I've enjoyed it over the years though. I've played off and on since the release of the game, as has my husband. So, I don't really think the money has been wasted.

Not really. You probably spent more money eating out, going to the theaters, and concerts combined than all those years of subs and base game/expansion prices. Then there's the question of would you have really spent that much time on other hobbies as enthusiastically for the cost? I've spent tons of money over the years on other hobbies that are immensely more expensive than WoW itself and never got as much of a return for the cost. I mean it's comparing apples to oranges but brass tax just plain entertainment value alone- I don't regret spending the money I did over the years because I probably spent 5x's as much from eating out alone. If I think about that cost...I would have saved way more by not eating out in a span of 10 years than I would have by not playing WoW. Haha.

I went through and calculated all my subscription and transfers I've done and it was pretty dang depressing; came up to over $750. But, that's not really all that bad considering how much entertainment I've gotten out of the game over the course of my life. And now, the $15 sub is a drop in the hat to pay for me, so that's really not an issue anymore.

It adds up, but if you play the game consistently, and not just a few times month, $15 is pretty cheap for hours and hours of entertainment.

I don't know and I don't want to, it might make me crazy thinking the money I spent here just enjoying playing the game

I have spent way too much money on WOW, probably more than I should have, but I can't help it.

With ten years worth of on and off subscriptions between four accounts, plus toys and in-game pets, I would say I have spent about $3,500. Was it worth it? Obviously it was.

People often say "I've spent too much on this game which could have put to other things." Then I ask, "Like what?" People come up with many things like pay for X, Y and Z. The fact is, you paid for a game that gave you enjoyment. Whatever you're saying now is just in hindsight.

I never regret making such a large purchase. Ten years of WoW is amazing. Also, I never got addicted to the game. At times, I paid for a month and only played about 10 hours that month. It's not a big deal. If people are complaining about $15/month, then they shouldn't even be playing WoW in the first place. They have their priorities in the wrong place.
