It is very true that League of Legends is the most toxic game on the planet. Comparing to games like Call of Duty, your teammates are more focused in league of legends since once one person snowballs the game is over. In COD, if one person has a lot of kills , you still can kill that person equally.

Playing League the first time with your friends is a good idea. They can guide you and help you understand what is happening in the game. Sometimes there are toxic people who will rage on you for "throwing the game" and "feeding." Pay them no mind and just mute them. Most likely the rude people are smurfs anyway. As long as you have fun, go for it.

There are going to be haters, trolls and flamers in any competitive RPG. It does not have to ruin the game for you at all. Either ignore them, or just don't care what the elites think. I am of the opinion that being leet and being a pro are two different matters. Just remember who the leet players are because they are the ones who are more likely to be a dirty ninja or just plain bothersome in a group. If they really get to you, either don't feed the trolls and leets or feed them so much they explode, either way they will get the point and back off.

Read the stoics if you want inspiration on how to handle LoL rage. Learning not to get upset at things you can't control is valuable everywhere in life. I find Epictetus especially inspiring. Many people prefer Marcus Aurelius.

Watch sirchez's stream on Twitch. He stays positive, even when he's totally tilting.

If you can, start playing with friends, so that they can teach you how to play it. It can be pretty rough at start because there's a lot to deal with, but once you get used to it, you'll be fine

League is pretty hostile, but it's not as bad as you would think. As a lot of people have already said, there is this amazing little mute button that will cure your problems. If you're playing with your friends you'll never have to worry because they'll have your back, and you don't eve have to talk to the enemy team. Now if your friends are a bunch of jerks you have a whole new problem on your hands.

I find league to be pretty hostile towards new players/players who don't really know what they are doing, so that turned me off from the game a bit, as I disliked the overall toxicity in games.

I think that League players are hostile and toxic to every kind of player, both new, bad, experienced or good. That is simply how a lot of LoL players are on every level, from 1 to 30 and from Bronze to Challenger. It simply is a part of League at this point and unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about it.

The learning curve just to learn the basics of something like CSing is very high. Now that inherently isn't a bad thing except there are people who like to make smurfs and expect everyone to do everything perfectly at Lvl 5. And it gets even worse when people starting out have to play with those who just recently got banned and made a new account. They're now getting flamed not only for being new at the game but flamed purely because the people they play with are toxic.

I have to be honest, I've played a lot of multiplayer games that feature active communities, but I'd rank LoL's fan community as among the worst. It's extremely hostile to new or even intermediate players and the level of vitriol and derogatory commenting is pretty ridiculous. I honestly had to leave the game after playing pretty regularly for a few months it was that bad.

I agree with about everyone in here said. League's community is definitely the worst you can ever see. Playing on EUNE, the players are toxic towards everyone: new players, bad players, players better than them. I think that it comes from the fact that they are unable to accept their mistakes and such blame everyone else, as they think they are perfect players.

Yes, but ONLY if you're completely and utterly retarded, EG "Gosh I've never played this game before, I'm just going to hop into a pvp match and see what happens!" That kind of attitude will get you flamed hard. Instead, play about 20ish matches on coop vs ai, starting at beginner and then seguing your way into intermediate, and THEN play pvp. If you're not totally braindead, by this point, your experience with the game mechanics and gameplay will mean that people will generally leave you alone, especially when your elo evens out.

People are just kind of terrible in general to each other. It's not about LoL. It's about the immaturity of people who choose to spend a lot of their time playing a game to validate their worthiness, then use that worthiness to look down upon others because it is the basis of their self esteem

I agree that league is extremely hostile to new, bad players, but it's not necessarily their fault. The problem is that new players' friends (who are also bad for their elo) queue with them and cause bad matchmaking. So new people get matched against way better people and thus the teammates of that new person are extremely annoyed because they are not going to assume that you are new. My advice if you are starting to play is, do not queue with anyone higher than your level as you won't learn the game efficiently like that.

I don't think it's that hostile but you might across some bad apples. I say just don't mind them and focus on getting better. At the end of the day they will feel worse for getting angry at a game and you can just go on about your day and improve.
