Yeah fallout is your closest bet and that's only because It's made by the same people. I have yet to find a non Bethesda game that can come close to skyrim!
I would have said Elder Scrolls Online if it wasn't so glitchy, but it's not even close to what Skyrim has to offer. The closest you will ever get is the Fallout series. It's the best.
Other games? I don't think there is. You can try Fallout but it's never really the same game but only in spirit. The closest alternative you can get is other TES games. Oh, and South Park: The Stick of Truth.
Dragon Age and Age of Conana, both games are similar to Elder Scrolls. Other similar, but less grand games are Gothic series and Two Worlds.
Hard to say since Skyrim offers so much. Open world, Crafting, Enchanting and you can level up what you choose when you choose to do so. Like others have said, Fallout may be the closest thing but I honestly feel that the two are very different in their own way. Considering Fallout is more of a FPS with an open world element where as Skyrim is more of an RPG, I find it hard to recommend it if you are looking for games like Skyrim. The worlds and everything about them are so different.
I'd have to say no, no game quite catches the epicness of Skyrim, but there are some games that atleast come close, or in the same ball park, Infamous Second Son stands out and assasins creed black flag as well, Fall Out 3 encapsulates all that is Skyrim, except its with guns, as a matter of fact they are ran on the same graphics engine .
Morrowind? Haha no but if you are looking for a game that is similar to Skyrim I would go with the fallout series. They are both developed by Bethesda and share a lot of the same features, like graphics and in jokes.
I think the same, the most similar that I have played since now was Fallout 3, its very open world and the gameplay is similar. You could play Dragon Age too, it's a great saga, with huge scenarios (specially in DA3 Inquisition) but it isn't a sandbox as Skyrim. Oh, and it hasn't been released yet, but the creators of The Witcher 3(wildhunt) claim that the game will be a very very big open world, opened as Skyrim. And those guys never lied since now, I respect their company, witcher 1 and 2 were awesome.
If you don't mind playing old games, give Oblivion a go. There are some other games that are kind of similar to Skyrim. Most recent entry is Dragon Age Inquisition. Everything from lore to a big chunk of land to explore, feels similar to Skyrim.
I've never found anything that played like Elder Scrolls games apart from other Elder Scrolls games. Fallout would probably be the next closest thing right now. I've heard the Witcher 3 is supposed to be open world and it may be similar. Give Oblivion a try if you haven't already. Its not so dated that its unplayable, especially with mods.
I was searching for a close alternative to Skyrim and I can tell you, that there is none. I mean, there are games like Dragon Age which has their own, really good story, but the gameplay is different. I recommend you to play Oblivion or even Morrowind (I tried to play Morrowind, but nah, I can't stand that physics.. this game is still cool anyway). I know that there is some project where people trying to do playable Morrowind at Skyrim's engine. It's really interesting and when they finish, I will definitely try it.
I'd say Morrowind are the closest game similar to Skyrim. Well, they are both Elder Scrolls so... yeah.
Fallout is still more of an RPG than an FPS, since the RPG elements are more fleshed out than the shooting is. And since it's by the same developer as The Elder Scrolls, it is definitely the closest. It's pretty much The Elder Scrolls with guns in a post-apocalyptic setting.
