Always and forever favored the ranged characters. Unless, there was an interesting class or two for the melee characters, then I'd give them a go. Anyway, ranged mainly because of their weapons of choice: Magic, pistols and rifles/shotguns. If they have a few melee attacks to get enemies off of them, it's an added bonus. Especially when I get annoyed about them continuously
    attacking.

Ranged is good but you have to be pretty accurate with your clicking. Personally, I think melee is much more fun because you can just run up to your enemies and just ram at them. Spam your mouse button like there's no tomorrow!

I have always played with sword characters. So it would be melee for me. Don't know why, Just the way I choose to go. Mainly two handed swords.

Ranged has some serious advantage and I have been thinking to try that route as the damage I would take would in the games I play with be much, much less. For some reason though, I always end up with a sword in hand and pretty medium-heavy armor. I guess it is all about DPS for me.

In most older MMOs like WoW, ect. I play ranged because melee is too restrictive for me to play how I want to. Guild Wars 2 is the only game I play as melee opposed to ranged. The intuitive and active dodge system allows me more freedom of movement that other MMOs don't offer.

It really depends on the game for me. However, the majority of the time, I prefer to stick to ranged!

Ranged, for sure. I love being able to pick a target from far away and get most of the damage on it before it can even touch me (unless it's also ranged). I find that I often get bored with strictly melee characters, like a lot of warriors in most MMO's. When a game has active combat allowing me to dodge around and move as I ranged attack, it's wayyy more fun for me.

I do a little bit of both, but lately I've been leaning more towards range.

I prefer melee. Melee is usually more tanky, and gives you more room for error when you're doing dungeons. I also like getting up in the bosses face and DPSing them. Ranged characters are not that appealing to me unless there are some amazing skills. I love carrying a big sword or axe, whatever it is. A plain bow looks boring to me.

Normally, I prefer ranged because it takes more skill to play a melee. Playing a ranged means you are able to sit at the back of the "party" and still do a considerable amount of damage to opponents. It depends a lot on what type of game it is. I like whichever one does the most damage. I do not want to play a melee who is tanky and does absolutely no damage.

I have always played as a DPS (usually with two handed swords) or as a tank (with sword and shield and things like that) but now I'm turning a bit into archers and ranged gameplay, I was wearing a female archer in Guild wars 2 and I just loved the way it's played, so I'm unsure about what are my favourite classes xD

GW2 really changed the whole ranged vs melee dynamic for MMOs to me. My enjoyability with ranged was lessened with it, which is strange but on the flip side I came to love melee because of the mobility haha.

I'm usually a fan of ranged, or I have been in the past. Oddly enough, I'm loving my DK in WoW right now so maybe it's time for a change.
I really like mages and priest in most games. I like switching things up though and trying classes or races I normally wouldn't.

Well the classes I have had the most fun playing were all ranged. I tend to play a healing role and they are usually squishy characters that should be in the backline attacking with range if attacking at all. I don't have a problem playing a melee character apart from when I lose aggro and have to chase after a monster. That sucks.

I usually go for ranged DD namely archer or mage/wizard class. My girlfriend and I belong to the same guild/crew and we all know each other's preferred classes. I stick to ranged DD in order to support her, she's usually the main healer of our team. Healers often manages to steal aggro from tanks and DD. If our healing support dies, we're all dead

I normally go with melee style combat. I seem to have bad luck when I try to use ranged characters. I die quickly and I never really get into the flow of the game with ranged characters.

I have better luck using support characters than I do ranged, and that says a lot.

I use a lot of melee in my games. I find it does a lot of damage in a shorter period of time than a ranged based character. Of course, you take a lot more damage because you're up close to the enemy, but that's nothing better armor couldn't fix.

I really, really hate dying, so I usually stick to ranged.

I usually choose the melee type whenever I play games. I just feel like it's the better choice for me.

I try and use ranged attacks, and also it is good to get enimies out of the way who are a little far away and have time to take them out. The ranged ones can do some devastating attacks, and also arming the rangers well is important so you can fight back. Melee, ones are a bit better as you have different weapons and also can fight enimies who have weapons and also enjoyable to fight using weapons.
