Melee or Ranged?

Melee all the way! I hate ranged characters so much I dread whenever I have to play with them.
I like to be in the center of the battle!

 

I tend to lurk in the shadows and hit people by NY range attacks. Being overly direct usually gets me killed because I'm not skilled in that niche of combat. Especially if we're talking games like Runescape. In an FPS style game I'd say range is usually the only option lol.

 

While it does depend on the game, and how each class within the said game can be played, I almost always play ranged classes. I have a tendency to gravitate towards glass cannons, especially ones of the magic type, but I'll also play archers and other ranged, melee DPS classes. I like hitting hard, and kiting is quite fun for me. It's also nice to be able to kill monsters & players before they're even ever able to reach you, or take minimal damage before you emerge, victorious.

 

When I play MMOs I normally play ranged characters. I liked playing mages because they do a lot of damage, at the cost of not having much defense. I have played as melee before, and I do think they sometimes have their advantages (a lot of melee classes have stuns and what not) but I just never stick to playing them.

 

I would prefer melee over ranged any day! Well maybe not when I was a "noob" back then. The only reason I'd play melee is because it just feels more fun. I like to charge at enemies and spam buttons. Ranged is more of a safe pick where you stay far back and just attack from a distance. Personally, I don't really find this fun. Maybe I did back then, but now I prefer melee.

 

Ranged. I tend to always choose a caster, always. What can I say, wizards are my thing.

 

Ranged will always have the advantage simply by being ranged and sitting out of the way of all the cleaves, aoe, "devastating combos" and other stuff the boss throws about we have to dance around.

One thing I will say about melee is it feels exciting to play being so close to the danger and right down in the thick of the action.

 

I think I would go with ranged because I'm a person who loves shooting and attacking from a longer range than being close. Being close to the character and attacking gives me a weird feeling of non excitement. I still would try Meele but id choose Ranged anytime, whether it was Mage or Bow.

 

I like ranged if it comes right down to a necessity. However, ultimately I enjoy close ranged combat the most. That's probably because I adore being something like a berserker in game whenever I get the chance; getting up close and personal with the bad guys and then ripping them a new one.

 

I like memes weapons. I like to get in there and get my hands dirty. It's a lot more exciting and takes more skill, typically.

 

I usually go with ranged as an archer or mage-type. I find archers typically have crazy crit. damage and mages are usually glass cannons. I've never been the type to charge ahead and take all the aggression, I prefer picking off people and when it comes to pk-ing, usually it's the first person that lands their attack that wins so ranged offers some great advantage to compensate for the low defense/hp.

 

In WoW I was exclusively range, although I've always kind of wanted to make a melee character and level it up. It never happened, though. I don't enjoy the game mechanics as a melee character. In Skyrim, I'm almost always melee, with the occasional bow but never magic or anything. I think combat in Skyrim is easier than in WoW, although WoW is basically auto attack like other MMOs.

 

Both have their advantages and disadvantages to make a gameplay balance, so nobody should think that one is better than another from a general point of view. It simply depends on the respective person's liking and intentions with the MMORPG itself. I personally prefer playing ranged because it's a more comfortable feeling attached to the abilities, and I can level up easier than if I played ranged, but I have a few friends who prefer the opposite for my reasoning, so it really depends.

 

Melee has a better feel when it comes to gameplay for some reason.

 

I mostly go with the melee, seeing as I don't like ranged weapons.

 

It would be nice to see some way they could implement melee only mechanics to raid bosses to make a need for them instead of seeing just a pure dps increase.

 

I'm definitely into range, I'm a ranger after all. LOL no really, in Runescape, i use range most of the time even though I'm fighting high level monsters and my range level is laughable but hey i was determined to prove that range is the only combat way to go. I died so many times until i didn't. I trained range and i think i went to level 68 and then i quit playing the game.

 

I've always choosen melee class but lately I'v ebeen founding myself quite good with ranged, especially archers and gunners but I dont' really idn also playing some mage based ranged class like sorcery and stuff. By the way if I can I always choose melee character.

 

Grinder -Ranged champs are good! Out of all games, can you say what's your favorite one? I'd love to hear it!

 

Personal preference? Hybrid. Somebody that can jack of all trades master of none but still do it well enough to be 3rd or 4th on DPS charts constantly. Like a feral druid from wow. Switch in form, smack em up, back out, support the group, dive back in. Like Nidalee or Jayce from League of Legends.

What do I normally get stuck playing or end up playing? Tanks or Healers. Generally Healer, but I love tanking and getting into the thick of it and trying to hold aggro against everyone in my party. Makes it fun.
