OK, I posted some while back that my friend and I were going to make a metro shortfilm. Now, we have got closer to the appropriate season (Yes, winter), and I have got some money at hand. But one thing we are quite clueless about, is the clothing.

We are supposed to imitate rangers, or at least Hanzan stalkers, so we want some fair equipment. Also, we'd like to do it in one camo - not a mix of urban and black, for example.
We already got gasmasks covered, so don't worry about that.
On weaponry we are still open for suggestions, but we have found some good replicas already.

Budget pr. person is 90 USD. If you can throw in a vest without exceeding this, it'd be awesome, but it's not critical.

I hope to see some suggestions here, because we are out of ideas :)
Might throw in a few bullets, too ;)

That is so awesomely done of you! I'm going to use my whole monthly saving (Not much) to buy a Ghillie suit, so I unfortunately can't afford to donate anything. But good luck anyway!

A nice cheap vest could be the Chicom...looks Soviet, not very expensive.
I'd also suggest you to buy some Trenchcoats/Coats Soviet style to give that nifty look.

i'm guessing you still want authentic russian camo? Personally, for me it would be the KZS soviet camo oversuit, cheap, smelly but you'll love it.. Supposedly flame resistant too, though i wouldnt put it to the test!
Theres loads of companies producing "russian" camo sets fairly cheap, heres a couple of 'urban' styles -

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RUSSIAN-S...US_Men_s_Athletic_Apparel&hash=item3ca853e957

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-RUSS...US_Men_s_Athletic_Apparel&hash=item3ca8426d80

Ukrainian TTSKO camo (copied from the russian version, but in a slightly different colour) are cheap and plentiful at the moment:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USSR-RUSS...656?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35a593d120

As youre in northern europe have a look at Varusteleka, they have russian TTSKO and VSR camo sets pretty cheap. And they only charge one postage rate.

But i guess it depends on your exchange rate!

Unfortunately, my lame skill as photographer interfered, but i'd like to make you notice that this guy i met had built a Duplet with some wood....it really resembles the game's one.

Off-topic: Making a Ghillie suit would take ages, SunBunny :p That's the main reason they're so outrageously expensive.
On-topic: Those suits look really awesome! Perfect metro-ish, and the typical russian-look instead of the typical wanna-look-badass-style, like me :p Only thing I can say, is put a hood or a hat on the guy with the duplet ;)

Well, I certainly didn't try too hard to get it correct and realistic, so I strapped a Dan Wesson to my leg, an AK in my hand, a katana in my other hand and an HK G36C hanging from a string around my neck, and a British S10 gas mask with red night lenses. The clothing was pretty good though :)

Well, maybe the Katana and the HK g36 were a bit out of topic...

I think a lot of people don't do factions because its a lot of effort crafting gear that is recogniseable to each, and doing so by altering factory-produced articles can deface or damage military items, which a lot of Rangers' gear looks like. Plus the only rangers we know of with recogniseable faces seem to have facial hair and we are all young'uns without a Miller-style Santa Claus beard in the making. But I really admire the effort that m1shooter2 put into his!

Having said that I *think* I might try altering my costume posted in the costume thread in the Roleplay section to look a bit more Red Line. Would love to get some feedback there, but I'll be adding a long-sleeved shirt underneath and taking photos again.

BTW, I tried getting an older relative of mine with a full beard to don a gas mask ....lets just say that facial hair is IRL actually bad for masks as the hair allows some outside air to seep in between the rubber and your skin.

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm thinking about going with a Ushanka instead of the helmet, like Boris. And yes, I have a dog, :p It also gets extremley hot, if any of you are wondering.
    Here is my backstory:

    Name: Iakova Cardinski
    Age: 16
    Bio:
    Early Life:
Iakova was born in 2017 to a rich Hansa (an ex-FSB operative) stalker and his wife in Revolution Square.

    Hansa-Red Line War:
Iakova was only 4 when the Hansa-Red Line War began. Because of his wealth, Iakova's father was initially spared of the draft, but when the stalemate began at the Lenin Mausoleum his father was recruited because of his knowledge of the surface. Three days later, he was reported K.I.A. when a group of Red volunteers strapped grenades to themselves and rushed the fortification where he was stationed. Life for Iakova, now age 10, got worse when the battle of Revolution Square began. When his mother could not afford to send him to another station (his father's remaining funds were spent on survival and skyrocketing taxes), Iakova was told to "step in your father's shoes" and become a stalker.

    Stalking:
Iakova, though worried and frightened, began leaning from his father's old notes and various maps what the most interesting (and profitable) locations of the surface were. His home was a tank that had been suppressing riots hours before the bombs fell, as it's CBRN capabilities protected him from the radiation outside. His most favorite location was the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, where he learned about the war that "made this current war look like a cat-fight", as well as finding new technologies that could be made in the Metro. Most notably were artificial fuel, simpler rubber, and (his favorite) a lightweight rocket launcher that could be easily made in the Metro. However, he did not spend more than 3 hours at a time there, because of strange phenomena, battlefield sounds even though he was many miles from any conflict in the Metro.

Return to Hansa and the Rangers:
After a year, Iakova returned to the Metro in search of his mother, who was killed loading ammunition for a Hansa DShKM during the final Red charge of the station. Discouraged, he moved on to find more peaceful parts of the Metro. It was here, in a tunnel leading to Oktyabr'skaya, where he met a lost Ulman, about to be executed by a squad of bandits. After killing the bandits with his Kalash and his custom weapon, the Tovarich, he offered to bring Ulman to Polis in exchange for becoming a citizen there. Ulman agreed, and, intrigued by Iakova's skill in fighting and his knowledge of the frozen surface, later pitched in a good word to Miller (who had actually known Iakova's father) to ask Iakova to join the Rangers.

    Rangers and D6:
Upon being accepted into the Rangers, Iakova sought out to get a thank you gift for everyone of the then-small group of Rangers. Ranging from a (hilariously bad) joke book for Ulman to Vasili Zaietsev's sniper rifle for Anna, Iakova was soon sent to scout the surface with Hunter and another Ranger, Red. Being a Ranger, he had various perks for life in Polis. His favorite is a room to himself, complete with his own, fully functioning, bathroom. Upon hearing the declaration of war between Reich and the Red Line (to which he was not surprised at all about, given his knowledge of the Great Patriotic War), he was tasked with renovating a base on the surface, Sparta Base. It was here that he met an old philosopher, who frequented the old chuch. After discussing life, the state of humanity, as well as the phenomena that inhabited the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the man told him to, "Think before you make a life-altering decision, whether it be yours or someone else's." With a new crisis occurring at VDNKh, he decided to have a neutral take on the matter, staying post at Sparta Base. When Miller decided to eliminate the Dark Ones at Polis, Iakova had a heated argument with Miller. Miller ordered him to stay "one step behind us" and shortly after the six Rangers departed for D6, Iakova departed for Sparta Base, and later D6 to protect Vladimir. Changed by the destruction of the Dark Ones, Iakova now stands watch at Sparta Base. He makes periodical stops to the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, to relive the only time he can remember being happy in his life.

You look like a true stalker :p
Anyway you should get some Bakelite mags for your AK, I'm working on getting some. This Christmas I'm debating getting an RPK-74M or a K6-3 helmet and a PMK gas mask (which is one way to make a Ranger helmet, it's how they did it in Enter the Metro).
