Metro: Last Light Bugs, problems and glitches

Whoops, I'll do that, but why would you read a thread clearly labelled as talking about story and characters when you are trying to avoid spoilers?

 

Because it's entirely possible to do so without spoiling major moments.

Not a bad post, just emphasize a bit more that you liked the game in spite of its flaws and maybe put another spoiler tag here and there just in case. Kids and attention spans these days, you know.

I agree with a fair amount of points. Just to (somewhat needlessly) clarify, I really do love the game, but I feel like Anna should have definitely had some more backstory. I felt like there was a huge portion of the developed relationship missing.

Miller and Ulman were alright. I preferred their 2033 counterparts greatly, but they still work as characters.

Also yeah, Ranger Mode is very disappointing. What a shame, I played nothing but it in 2033 after my first playthrough.

i'm with you on the new Khan, Oppai. The journey through the ghost tunnels with Khan in Metro 2033 was a very special time. Some of the best moments ive seen in any game. His philosophiocal speeches in 2033 were far 'darker' in tone (...heaven, hell and purgatory were atomised as well) and was made more intense by the great voice acting. One of those old wise voices that reassures and can send you to sleep, but when angered would be full of power. Just perfect casting for Khan. The darkness was sadly missing from Last Light. i can get over the makeover, khan as a hippy seems quite fitting, but changing the voice actor was a terrible choice. The new game is a bit more "hollywood" rather than an obscure european oddity. Is the new khan voiced by Lance Henriksen?

The other thing that didnt sit right for me was Khan taking part in the battle for D6. Yes, we all know he used to be a soldier, but i cant imagine that the 2033 Khan would pick a "side". The Khan of 2033 and the novel seemed to have become a "lone" mythical figure walking the metro tunnels, appearing at the right moment to help some, but appearing as an avenging angel to destroy others..

Heres hoping for a khan mission in the forthcoming DLC...

The latest "bug" I've encountered is I did a reinstall of Windows recently, and afterwards, updated my nvidia drivers to the latest WHQL version, and now the game won't load. Just black-screens completely. Have to use Taskmanager to kill it. Now reverting back to previous working drivers.... Hopefully, they'll work.

 

Anyone else had a bug on Xbox 360 where you don't get the achievement; "Survivalist: Complete the game in Ranger Hardcore"

Even if you have completed the game on that mode ... twice might I add. I don't mind playing it over and over and I'm not after achievements just thought I would bring it up.

 

Bug: Rhino not moving after level reload

So when I could not complete the catacombs level because I couldn't kill the rhino and ran out of ammo I decided to reload the level from the menu.
When I finally came back to the beast it was unkillable and just standing still, not moving. Now I'm stuck because of it
Does anyone know a workaround?

 

When something like that happens, the only workaround I know is going back to last checkpoint save and hoping that it won't happen again. If that doesn't work, you may have to Chapter Select to a previous point. Unfortunately, that usually kills any "hardcore" or "ranger" difficulty playthrough achievements. It is a highly annoying bug that so far I have avoided. But lots of people are getting those. Sad and frustrating, to say the least.

 

achievement problems

I completed the game on ranger hardcore more and did not get the achievement. is anyone else having these problems? also i skipped as many cutscense if that makes a difference.... Please Help!

 

I don't know if other players have this problem, but I can't change the gamma which is really annoying for the first halve of the game. Any solutions?

 

Any chance you locked a file somehow as Read-Only? Not sure if the gamma level is governed by the settings in the user.cfg file, but if you made changes to say...FOV or something...then that might be causing it. Other than that, I don't know.

My latest glitch:
Reinstalled Windows, but saved all my saved games from MetroLL, and now all my progress as far as the diary/notes in my current playthrough are gone. Everything is just grayed out, except for what I've found since then in my current playthrough.

 

Pavel just came out of the closet, apparently.

 

I haven't changed any file, just a standard installation. I can adjust the slider bar, but it doesn't change anything.

 

Xbox 360 Red Ring, Overheating When Starting Game

Picked up the Xbox 360 version from a RedBox last night. The game will not stop crashing my console. I can't get out of the very beginning when you choose your weapons in the shooting range. The console will promptly give me a red-ring and shut off. When I boot it back up it claims it was overheating. This has happened four times in a row.

I've tried turning it off and unplugging everything, waiting an hour then when that didn't work I let it sit overnight. I cleaned out any dust I saw. There's nothing blocking any of the vents, plenty of space. I successfully played another game and watched a TV ep for a time without any issues.

This Xbox is from 2007 is it possible the game is pushing the console too hard? I've yet to find anyone else with this issue and haven't experienced it with other new games. If so that seems like a massive design flaw. ...or it could be my Xbox.

 

Bug

I know you have heard this before, but I have a bug.
Yes - I have all the patches installed and I do not use mods ( if there is any ).
I've had the same problem before the patches, the patches obviously didn't fix the bug.

The problem is that the characters look like that they're covered in icicles or in spider web and unfortunately I don't care for Ice Giants nor for Spiderman.
Without that the game just runs perfectly.

Xbox bugs

Hi there,

I'm running MLL on Xbox 360 - all ran fine until the bandit chapter. After taking out the first lot and getting through the first closed gate, the game started doing weird things;

Two guards standing facing the track become 'frozen'. I killed them but they stay standing but no longer move, collide/clip or animate. Went further on in the game just to see if it was localised to those two guards, but same story further on.
Reloaded from last checkpoint - same story. Rebooted Xbox, same story.

Then I figured perhaps I should restart the chapter. NOW the damn thing hangs my xbox outright (no control, forced reboot to fix) when I've finished off the first two that are raping the woman and the third guy that comes looking for them (long before the two guards mentioned before)

Rebooted xbox twice, hung twice....seems like something is proper buggered. Now not sure what to do...anyone else seen this?

Repaired PS3 Savegame after Game frooze

Hi,

as I was playin' M:LL yesterday on the PS3, after the Theater on my way to Polis,
M:LL started to freeze. Couldn't even go to the System Settings to Exit the Game.
So the only solution was to press the Power Button short to let the PS3 shut down,
after restarting the PS3 and starting M:LL i only had the option to start a new Game.

AAAAAARRRGGGGGHHHHHHH.

So, i came here and found out that there are more People with the same Problem.
Broken Savegames after a Crash. Shit.
So i tried to find out what happend.
I have now a savegame called "_UAS_2013052613473000385866" (the broken one) and
the new One created by the Game itself (By the Way, ONLY ONE SAVESLOT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Come on Guys, thats S***)

So i tried to copy them both to an USB-Stick, which didn't work out.
The Broken one can't be copied, because it is, nahh, broken, ah shit.
The new one, working one, can't be copied because the System has an restriction
that it can only copied into the Cloud (which i do not have), not to any Flash. (see Screenshot,
i'm German, but the thing in Red means:"Copy not allowed". Ah really, only one Save and im
not allowed to Copy it !?!?!?!?!?!??!

Fortunately, i have Multiman on my PS3 (before you start cryin, i bought my Game, liked 2033 on PC already).
So, i started MM, got into File Manager, headed to:
PS3root -> dev_hdd0 -> home -> 00000001 (or your Userid) -> savedata
This is where your Savegames are stored, there was an Folder named:
_UAS_2013052613473000385866
(This is the broken Savegame, don't know if this name changes, but i would guess so, looks temporarely)
And i have another Folder inside there called:
BLUS31184-AUTO-
(This is the working "From The Beginning"-Savegame)
I copied both Folders with the Filemanager onto an USB-Stick,
checked what both has inside on my computer, both seems working,
all data should be there, even when it says "broken Save".
i checked with the Hexdump what both was saying, after that,
i decided just to copy the stuff from the broken folder into the working
Folder, overwriting anything that existed there.
Copied the whole working Folder with Multiman back into the right Location, also to:
PS3root -> dev_hdd0 -> home -> 00000001 (or your Userid) -> savedata
fired up the Game, and Voila, i could resume my game, well , from the start of the last chapter i was, but not from the Beginning.

And, did i just mention it:"REALLY, just one Saveslot?!?!?!?!?!?!"
