Metro: Last Light Limited Edition features hardcore Ranger Mode

So in order to play the game in ranger mode i have to buy limited edition, however i will also have a pile of extra ammunition and some overpowered gun thrust into my hands upon launch? Seems a bit counter-productive.

 

I swear if the multiplayer costs any money I'm just going to sell my copy of Metro last light and every THQ game I have and regret the money I donated to THQ from the humble bundle and never buy another THQ game again. Whats next you have to buy a pass to buy the publishers games?

Yes, I do (recently saw Indie Game: The Movie by the way). But you didn't answer my question; what of unlock keys? Do they float about freely on their servers or does the publisher cover the costs for that as well?

For me it's not that the DLC is so terrible, it's that they saw how much we disliked it before and yet they continued to release it as it is. The DLC is stupid too, more MGR and a new gun yet Ranger mode is supposed to have less ammo and be harder...
I see them going down the same road with LL as EA with Battlefield 3 (money, money, money.)

I'm just going to wait for a while and hope that they release Ranger Hardcore mode later on as DLC since for me, it's a key ingredient for this game. To me the gameplay was just as important as the atmosphere, If I wanted to sit there without doing anything, just watching the game go by I may as well watch a film but yes I agree the atmosphere was the best part of the game.

 

Yes the Limited Edition is an annoying move by THQ but they sort of have an excuse. I mean look at how much they are in debt. They probably put Hardcore Ranger Mode in the Limited edition hoping that Metro 2033 Veterans would become interested in buying the Limited Edition

 

Yes, those foul things I'm pretty sure Ranger Mode is an unlock key but alright, I don't mind creating another topic for that.

Yes, it's pretty obvious that they barely looked at our several opinion threads. More specifically, this forum was supposed to be a direct link between the community and the devs.Allegedly, they don't look at this forum the way we users do. Regarding this Limited Edition or whatever you want to call it, the completely ignored our thread about it, which was full of good suggestions and tips.

 

I just registered to comment on this. My question is directed at THQ here: How does this benefit anyone? Or have you even thought this through before locking content behind a paywall?

Frankly, I don't mind this whole pre-order extravaganza most publishers are obsessed with these days. Just as long as it doesn't affect gameplay and story. (Ahem, See Mass Effect 3.)

Now Ranger Mode was, to a lot of people, a fairly popular mode in Metro 2033 that fixed a lot of the unbalances of the main game and added a layer of extra challenge that increased the complexity of the game. I'd love to see this mode experienced by a lot of the newcomers who have never played the first game or the people who didn't pre-order but bought it down the line later and will probably miss out on an amazing experience. You know, I get the extra pre-order gun but extra ammo? In a game that is primarily focused on resource-management gameplay? Have you guys even thought this through for a second?

I hope Joe or whoever answers these questions and clarify the issue, they'll most likely go ignored but whatever. Why isn't it available on-disc in the regular edition? Will Ranger Mode be patched in later on or will it be paid DLC? Will digital buyers still get the content early on even without pre-ordering?

Woah woah woah RPK only in a few countries? Most people who would buy the game are from America. Also whats the point of making something like that only for some countries? What do you gain really? Only thing you gain are angry customers who won't buy another game from you.

Look THQ I know you are going through hard times but that doesn't mean you can turn your backs on us. Remember that we are the ones who say whether you stay in business or whether you shut down. No one else pays your paychecks other than us. Learn to fucking listen to the people who are paying your paychecks and pretty much putting food on your table.

 

Ranger mode wasn't basic. You had to buy it for Metro 2033. How is that basic? Basic is everything already on the disc. If they sold it as a dlc in the first game, of course they would sell it in the second. You bought dlc's for nazi zombies in black ops. of course you would by the dlcs for nazi zombies in black ops II (when they come out). they wouldn't be free, thats fucking stupid. these guys are selling their limited edition four bucks less than every other gaming studio. they are selling their standard edition probably around thirty to twenty bucks less than every other gaming studio. if they want to make some cash of a community favorite dlc, fucking let them.
