Shut up please. We are given MGB from the start of the game which doesn't help the fact that ammo is suppose to be rare yet we start off with money. Then we get 2 guns. Ranger hardcore was sold yes, but the DLC also had 2 guns and the DLC was like 240 microsoft points. Also I hope you do know that when you buy the standard edition you get the limited edition. The standard edition isn't going to be cheaper, the limited edition is just another phrase for the pre-ordered edition of Metro Last Light.

True that, but it might also be time exclusive and become available for other players after some time. Still cheap, but better than paid DLC.

We don't know if the weapons are automatically given to you, they could just be available via the shop but only for people who got the Limited Edition. Please, calm down.

No, problem not solved. I refuse to redeem an unlock code for a difficulty mode that is most likely on the disc and I refuse to be forced to pay for it later as well. Either THQ cleans up their extortionate business practices or they release a GOTY edition. Anything other than that is no sale for me.

At least you haven't gone as far as some people who said they'd pirate it

Well, hopefully the limited addition will be the same price as the normal version. Like MOH was.

They had about 50 employees during the development of Metro 2033 and now they have 80 during the development of Last Light, with some additional help & funding from THQ. I agree that they are a small studio, but saying that there is only 18 people working in it is a lie.
Is that why Metro 2033 sold so "well" in the US (both the book and the game)? Because surely there wouldn't be as many people buying it in Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Germany (regions where the Metro universe is far more popular), right?

I've read all the comments in this thread, and this is what I've been thinking the whole time^
Those who criticize Joe for telling us that it was a lie, are prejudicing him. Just because he is in the crew, it's not guaranteed that he has been told about this, but still believes that he would be told about it, and therefor comes to the conclusion that it's a lie. Saying that Joe is a liar and anything else that some of you guys have called him, is a hasty move which is not based on enough evidence. If it happened that this wasn't the cause, you'd be very humiliated, and I assume none of you wants that.

Please be rational and mature yourself and don't judge the whole forum based on a few members' reactions.
But yes, I must highly agree with you that the game won't lack the main things that we like and want.

    I say, Yarr mate!

That is absolutely not tolerated, and if you repeat anything in that manner, I will personally ban you from this discussion permanently. Capiche?

I know I might seem angry right now, and that is because I am. I am very disappointed and annoyed by all this Limited Edition stuff too, but what I have read earlier in this thread, is not the way to react. So far, I Hate Lurkers, Bamul and Majnu (Sorry if I possibly forgot someone else too) are the only ones who have reacted in a way that I, personally, as a moderator, will tolerate. So keep the tone down or I'll have to temporarily lock this thread and/or delete it. Thank you.

Ok having calmed down, I come to this conclusion:
THQ is milking the metro franchise for every penny
We are not being heard by the developers
The developers are trying to appeal to a broad audience, even sacrificing atmosphere, immersion and story to cater for the newcomers.
I will preorder the game anyway, because I want it so badly, but I won't recommend it to my friends and people in doubt, because I don't respect the scrupleous marketing this gem has been faced with.

You are of course free to do as you please, Mr. Dark, but I hope you realize you are sending them the message that you are "ok with this".

I NEED the ranger hardcore mode. Without it, 20% of the fun goes out the window.
But I don't want bullets, OP guns or any other stuff they'll add. I hope they make a collector's edition as well.

I'm thinking the exact same. As non-proud as I am of this, I will still admit it: I might even concider to not pre-order the game, and rather pirate it instead if the pirated version has the Ranger Hardcore mode. I know it's "morally wrong". but I believe that THQ will get a lot more money from people who aren't like us, and are more like "Wow another gun and ranger hardcore and more moneys, awesome!". And I, for one, will not be one of the people who takes part in supporting this wrong move that THQ and/or 4A games did. In fact, I will be rebelling against it by pirating it. (Though, again, this is just a concideration, not actually something I've decided yet).

And I just contradicted my last post by toning up a bit, ain't I? :p

But, really, I'm thinking that there might be more or less to this, and I don't want to be prejudicing the situation, as all my information comes from this thread, which isn't 100% reliable. (I was too lazy to check out any links).
So my questions are: Is this actually 100% surely confirmed, or is it possible that it is actually might be a prank and/or rumor? If I don't pre-order the game, will I ever ever be able to play the game on Ranger Hardcore, and is that 100% surely officially confirmed, or uncertain?

Preordering will get you the Limited Edition for no extra charge. Whether or not it will remain a preorder bonus is unknown, but highly unlikely; look at New Vegas for instance (though they aren't the best example due to the time between launch and the DLC, or even Battlefield 3. I know the guns and the MGR are immersion breaking but if you feel that strongly, shoot away the MGR and don't pick up the Modified Russian Rifle.

I need it too. But at what cost... There's something more at stake here than merely cash.
