I get that development costs money and time and that it shouldn't be free which is why we pay 50 to 60 euro's/dollars at release. And while I really liked Ranger mode for Metro 2033 and I'm glad to make it see its return in First Light it leaves a sore taste in my mouth because I need to pay extra for it. Yes I could pre-order it but who knows, it might end up bad (while I don't think that is the case) like Aliens: Colonial Marines. Yes it costs you extra money to develop more for it but the better your game is the more people will buy it.

And to alter the pre-order bonus might be hard for you guys, I'm not sure, I don't have any experience in the publishing world so I won't comment on that. But you're really shooting yourself in the foot here. Alter it so people who pre-order it get it on launch and the people who didn't need to wait till June or something like that. People don't like these practices and many including me won't pay full price or buy it at all if the Ranger difficulty remains PAID DLC.

PS: If you pre-order the game to get the harder difficulty don't make the supposed harder difficulty easier by getting free money and a (assumed) better weapon. Or atleast give the option to not acquire the items on start ;)

"There's a lot of dev time involved with Ranger Mode, which is why it is a paid DLC. "

I bet there was a lot of dev time involved in making the content CD Projekt Red put on the Enhanced Editions of Witcher and Witcher 2 and that was released for free ;)

"What about that weapon and the 100 MG rounds?

In addition, a special AKSU weapon and 100 Military Grade rounds are part of Ranger Mode and only available in Ranger Mode. So these weapons won't make the regular campaign too easy. You can use the AKSU and the Military Grade ammo to upgrade and increase your odds of survival in Ranger Mode. If you happen to lose/swap out your AKSU or sell it, the merchants will also have the AKSU for sale in Ranger Mode."

Is there any of not getting that stuff in the game, even if I pre-order it?

I bet you can't, I guess you will have to drop the gun (if you start with it) and fire off the extra rounds.

I'd prefer not to have the rounds at all to be honest, especially in hardcore mode because it's fucking stupid.

Before you release the game will you please make these (AKS-74u and 100mgr) optional? :D

Well now I guess I'll pre-order the game soon At least you're trying to give the DLC for free.

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure you just get it at the start of the story. You could drop the weapon and not use the rounds if you want. Or load up the MGRs and fire them into a wall :). Or only fire 50 of them into a wall and spend the rest on a scope or barrel, then throw away the weapon? The choice is yours! Maybe try that across different playthroughs.

Ahh, the inevitable CD Projekt comparison! ;)

I do love CD Projekt RED, big Witcher fan myself. I think it's great what they do for PC, raising the bar for mature "Western" RPGs. Not entirely sure, but I thought the EE content for Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 was created to flesh out the game because they could do it (and wanted to do it) with a console version in development following the PC release. And then it made sense to just release that for PC as well once it was done. Could be wrong.

They're a risky bunch, and their approach worked out well for them. Not saying we shy away from risks ourselves, but the situation isn't entirely comparable I think. Perhaps if their parent company CD Projekt had picked up a game this close to its planned release, they would've done other things. Perhaps not. I'll ask them if I ever see them again :).

Guys. Guys, guys. Don't force Pew to say this pr crap. This is THQ's fualt for biting the hand that feeds them. Deepsilver is just stuck in this lunacy. Don't punish them for thq's sins.

Doesn't mean they can't alter it. Just look at the Facebook page of Metro.
    Which I can't link because I don't have 15 posts.
Look at how many people dislike this choice and decide not to buy it because of it, I WANT Last Light to be good, I WANT to play it but I also want to be treated like a valued customer and not like a milking cow.

I agree, dude. At least in terms of accuracy, which is where the AK-74 really blows the AKS-74u out of the water. They should do nearly the same damage, though, since they use the same caliber.

A bit disappointed about the AKS and MGR stuff, guess I'll skip pre-ordering it.

CDPR is the standard I use to judge other devs/publishers :p

Well they could make the limited edition not limited, it is a digital copy after all, it doesn't cost anything to 'produce' more. Really do something about it, I don't want this to be the last Metro game because of it.

The fact that something takes a lot of time to develop does not mean that you have to charge extra for it. Anything made before the game's release should be included as part of the package that we get for paying the full price of the game. Many people wait to get games after they have been thoroughly patched and/or because of financial problems. If any of these people wanted Ranger Mode, you've effectively forced them to buy the game at launch or pre-order so they don't have to pay extra later.

Still, I understand that this is not your fault as an individual who has no say in these things, and I understand that it's not really the fault of DS since this was a deal dictated by THQ before it went down. I also appreciate the answers you give us and, thankfully, most of it is good news apart from the limited edition stuff. It's just a shame you couldn't change it.

Yea I'm with Bamul on this. I understand why you can't, but at least we know you guys care for the customers. Hope to see multiplayer come out well.

Metro Last Light now is listed on Origin for preorder, does that mean game will be available on Steam and Origin simultaneously?

  15. No, you click play MLL in Origin and it starts up Steam. Like the latest Tomb Raider.

It's not THAT strange. A lot of games now require steam but can be bought from other stores :)

I would be every surprised if people bought it off origin. The only reason people use it now is to play BF3 and some other EA games like ME3 and Sim city.

Yeah, Origin is filth. The only reason I have it on my PC is Mass Effect 3. Even so, I use sandboxie to stop it from scanning my hard drive and send my information to EA.

So, I'm assuming the AKSU comes with ANY ranger mode? Or is it Pre-Order Exclusive?
