Metro Roleplaying part 1

Passing the officer Benjamin i prepared for what is to come, who knows what were going to find out in there, i followed Boris's lead nevertheless, looking to the others i said "Dont get yourselves killed while we will be gone, it will be such a shame haha"

 

"Ok lets go," i took my flash light took a bunch of deep breaths and finally filled my lungs with a huge lump of air. I began to swimm and Vlad followed. It took us a good 2 minutes to swim to the small air hole. We barely fit our heads. We dove again and swam the remaining 18 meters through a very tight sqeeze which made me feel really horrible. Once we got throught it we were presented with a huge room. at the end of this room were two tunnnls one of which has collapsed. The other one would head out to university. "Ok wait here get your stuff out and hold tight. Ill go get the others". I took another deep breath and dove back to the others. 4 minutes passed before i returned to the others.

 

"Okay, I'll go next", I said after Boris had got his breath back. We swam quickly, but by the time we reached the dry ground, my lungs were ready to burst. I collapsed on the dirty concrete, and just breathed harshly for what seemed like an hour. Boris was immediately back in the water. Damn, that guy had lungs of steel! "And Vlad" I gasped, "Please... don't make... me laugh... right now..." He laughed.

 

It felt like an eternity while Boris and Vlad were away. I was about to ask the others if we should get moving, assuming the posibility that they had drowned, just when Boris hit the surface and took a deep breath. I looked at the others, willing to be the last one going through.

 

Me and Boris went through the last few meters of the flooded area untill we reached a room, it was pretty big which was good im done with claustrophobic places, the Boris told me hes going to go after the others so i stayed and i took out my gear and put it on me, i still left the scope on Spike so i took it off and placed it in my bag, then i was all alone, Boris went back for the other, but i still had the feeling that someone is watching me, out of a sudden i hear a voice, i recognise it, the same voice i heard in D6, Choice is here, i didnt see him but i heard him talking to me, he told me that in that great perills will be encountered on our way to University...as well as from within it, but he told me not to mention about it to the others it may endanger their lives, also he told me that a few of his kind have left their beliefs of helping us humans because of what we have done to them and they whant revenge, then the voice stoped...he left, im not sure if i can believe him, but he did give me choices and i chose not to, its better that way. The others came back, looking to Boris i asked him if there where any dangers in this tunell, and then turning to Steven to answer his quesion as well "Ill try not to Steven, but its realy realy hard, i worked alot on my joke skills"

 

We were all taken through the water and were all on land now. I was the last one to arrive, so I hurried with packing out my belongings. I undid the ponytail and shook myself like a dog, to get all the water off of me. My dreadlocks flew around in the air like tentacles, throwing waterdrops everywhere. Just as I did that, one of the golden beads in my hair flew off and landed in the water. I threw myself to the edge, watching it sinking quickly into the water, letting up a few bubbles. "Rest in peace" I said ironically before I got my coat on along with my belt and lifted the soaked and still unconcious officer onto my shoulders, the same way as last time I did it, ready to go.

 

I tried to shake off as much of the water as possible. Getting a cold was bad, since sneezing and getting sick would jeopardize any mission. It was good to breathe without a gasmask again. My torch illuminated the small group as I unwrapped my kalash and said "Okay, I'm ready too".

 

"Ill be right back guys, i think i dropped something in the water," i said looking at the others as i dove into the water again. i left my bag on the surface and swam for about 30 meters to the airhole. i took a deep breath and descended again i searched the bottom of the tight room filled with water for anything i might have dropped, and then saw what i was looking for. An extra cartridge case i left in my pocket by accident. I arose and took a deep breath again, then dived to grab my belonging. I aros for the 3rd time again and took a deep breath. I dove and began to swimm throught the very tight slot like passage that we were all forced to swim through, until suddenly my flashlight turned darker and darker until it was completely turned off. My batteries ran out! Damn it! The next thing i know im trying to stay calm and feel the surroundings with my hand to find the air hole. I pulled on a peice of debri wich then snapped in half and fell on me. The whole upper section of the tight slot collapsed on me pinning me down under water in complete darkness. I still had lungs full of air but as i got pinned down the concrete pressed against my stomach which was wounded by the demon and i opened my mouth in order to yell. I lost valuable breaths and began to panic. Alone. In the dark cold water.

 

I heard a muffled call for help coming from the water. I took my coat off and dived in without hesitation. It did not take long to find Boris, he was stuck under some debris. I pushed all the pieces off of him, but it took a while. Boris was almost unconscious by then and I was almost out of breath too. I swam as fast as I could back to the dry room, whilst dragging Boris' unconscious body with me. As soon as I emerged from the water, I wanted to check for a pulse. It was also vital that someone removed the water from Boris' lungs, but as soon as I got up, I fell back down and passed out.

 

It felt like a dream but at the same time didnt. I was dreaming of the time before the bombs fell. I was going into the metro and then the doors closed and the sirens sounded. There was knocking on the doors as i escaped into University and people were begginig to get in. 10 minutes of listening to this hell there was a loud bang and the people silenced themselves. 13 years later as we opened the gates to the surface all taht remained of the people were shadows.

 

As quickly swam through the water trying to keep calm as soon as I reached the other side I let out a huge gasp for air.I shook my head as I got out.

 

While everyone was gearing up Boris told us that he droped something in the water so he dived down to get it but something wrong happened, we heard sounds coming from the depths of the water and Wolf jumped down in the water...we waited...a few moments passed and Wolf brought Boris back to the surface then when he tried to see Boris's vitals he passed out, thinkig that we dont have much time left i told Steven to help Wolf while i provided Boris with CPR and attending to his wound

 

I opened my eyes and began coughing water out of my esophagus. I looked around and noticed myself in a very dark room. Every body was around me looking. Awkard moment it was.

 

As Boris and Wolf came back, they were both in bad conditions. The fact that only the water did so much damage to a human being, made me concider what would next be waiting for us. Vlad leaned back up from Boris as he woke up from his unconciouness' depth. Vlad looked up at me, and I looked back at him. "Take a close look at the road you follow, Vladimir.. and be aware of how it might end." I preached dramaticly before I looked back into the darkness of the tunnel. "In glorious triumph we shall march, and the light of death shall glow from beneath our eyes. May my tongue work like a skilled writer's hand as I say: Tighten your sword around your leg, you precious. With your dignity and honor. And in honor, go further to victory. Go out there for truth, humanity and justice. Your eyes shall teach you fearsome things, but your sword is sharp and your arrows are penetrating; Battles will keep falling below your feet." I announced while staring into the tunnel, almost talking mostly to myself.

 

Looking to Benjamin i was amazed also disturbed by what he has just said, though he spoke the truth he also was wrong, i replied "If killing is what you think im trying to achieve you are wrong, i seek peace in everything and resort to violence if there is no other option, i do not believe in the ranger code 'If its hostile, you kill it' and as sure as hell i do not believe what Miller once said to me ' By fire and sword we will reclaim what is ours' " then i punched Benjamin and said 'force answers force, war breeds war, and death only brings death. To break this vicious circle one must do more than act without any thought or doubt' think of this because you wont get a second warning.

 

I kept relaxed, though surprised at this man's brave words. "I was not aiming for the slaughtering itself, but for the reason why we are doing such an act. Those who have enough courage and strength to wander through a dark tunnel are the first to see a flicker of light in it. We have wandered through the tunnel and are very well aware of the light. I am attempting to point out that there is a positive reason for the deeds we are performing, though the deeds might seem unreasonable. Reminding one-self of the reason for doing awful things is the reason why we remember so. Our heritage, our future, depends fully on the fact that we keep our focuse on the one thing that really counts when it comes to morality: We are a houndred percent sure that we are doing this for a good cause" I said in a defending, but pleasant way.

I took a deep breath and sighed slightly before I continued "As I always say: 'Try to get a better understanding of things before you make your judgement'. Even though fire might possibly burn one to death, it may be used for several other deeds; You just need to know how to use it.". I said the last sentence deeply to him, seeing that I was a little annoyed because of his questioning of my morality.

Vladimir had just told me to do more than to act without any thought or doubt, though he punched me because he prejudiced the intentions of my words. I did not tell him this, though, because I knew that he was wise enough to already know what he had just done. I gave him a short friendly smile to release the tension of the situation.

 

Regreting that i resorted to violence on my part i was ashamed of myself but i replied calmly this time "The ends dont always justify the means" but he was right at some extent, what they have done so far was the good of everyone but those means were not always the best, " As Newton once said, every action has an oposite reaction meaning, every action has a consequence think of that before you act, sorry about the punch but i couldnt resist and i need to be in a tiptop shape eh"
And we went on into the tunel

 

I nodded friendly to Vlad. I had taken his punch as something far more valuable than thoughtless violence. I recieved it as an illustration, and a very good one indeed. Before we went further onto our journey, I turned my sight to see if Wolf had arised from his unconciousness yet..

 

I thanked the others for getting me and Boris back on our feet and then we continued on our way. Listening to Benjamin's and Vladimir's conversation, I decided to speak out; "There is no such thing as killing for a good cause. We are not so different from the Nazis, from this point of view. Our political beliefs may differ a lot but we are murderers nevertheless. However, there is one thing that sets us apart from those fascist pricks... They fight for their own glory, for the glory of the "master race". They prey on the weak and slaughter everyone who stands in their way. We use their methods against them. We fight them, so that the weak may prosper and balance is restored. Whether it is our job to restore balance or someone else's, that's a question for another day. One way or another, we are making this world... Or what's left of it... A better place. Remember this, my comrades, because if we forget what we are fighting for, we will be no better than them."

 

I listened with interest to the conversation. I decided to voice my thoughts. "I think sometimes war, and killing, are necessary for the greater good. Sometimes people deserve to die, for atrocities they have committed, or for killing innocents. This isn't enjoyable, and it sure as hell ain't nice, but sometimes we have to do things to protect people, people who don't deserve suffering. And I will fight for this cause". We walked on, each thinking his own thoughts, each pondering the choices between good and evil, and what separates them.
