I was looking at my map, and compass, now not as sure of our position as I thought. I said, " Hmmm. Let me think for a minute...." I looked out in the darkness, using my flashlight, trying to think of some way to distinguish which side went where, and - what was that? Movement? I hear a loud cry of "Don't Shoot!!!" I said to my comrades, " Looks like we've got a newcomer! Show yourself, we mean no harm." I was surprised, but glad. Maybe if we found out where this guy was coming from, I'd be able to find our way.

As I heard the friendly response, I lowered my weapon and walked the next few steps until I was close enough to see the speaker's face. I looked at him and said, "So good to see a friendly face in these dark tunnels. But Comrades, what are you doing so deep in enemy territory... wait a moment, I guess you could ask me the same thing. In short: I was looking through some magazines at a Nazi station, and then I run out of bullets. I hauled ass outta there, only to find a pack of those damn mutants waiting for me in the tunnels. I took down as many as I could with my knife before realizing it was suicide, so I ran afterwards. That's how I got here."

I looked at him and continued, "If you're travelling onward, I suggest you stop. That's Nazi territory right there behind me; all sorts of nasty traps and alarm systems waiting for ya there. No matter where you're headed, it's best to retrace your steps two or three hundred meters back this tunnel and make a right. From there, you're in the vents and you can reach the nearest friendly station. With that said, I wouldn't mind if you guys joined up with me as I'm travelling there to stock up on ammo and get myself some drinks before tomorrow's journey." Just when the man was about to speak, I bumped in and said: "By the way, they call me Wolf." I shook his hand and awaited his response.

"Well, we're obviously not going into the fascist station, because the Nazis are, well, nazis. So that leaves us one way to go!'

I've seen this before. It's a fantastic speech, one of the best I've ever heard.

You guys just got back from the surface and I joined in. I was running through the tunnel you guys ended up in, and I basically told you where it's best to go from there. So I guess we head there.

My knowledge of the Metro was limited. I had been born and raised in the same Station all my life and had only ventured to the surface in the previous month. All those round me seemed to have a wealth of knowledge on all aspects and localities. We couldnt go one way due to some problem involving a Nazi, whatever that was. "Why cant we go this way? Why is it so bad?", I questioned pointing in the direction we were moving away from. The look upon the aged faces was not one of understanding, more one of mild disgust. Perhaps I should have remained quiet.

As we moved further back towards the passage I spoke of before and heard one of my new companion's question our next move, I looked around and saw that it was met with an exchange of disgusted looks. The questioner seemed to be of similar age to me. Without stopping, I turned to him and spoke: "All you need to know is that they are a bunch of psychos. Heard the name Hitler before? Maybe read it in one of those old, pre-blast history books? Well, he is their role model. When you reach a Nazi station, you either turn back and never go that way again or you kill every last one of the bastards, they deserve no less. Just make sure you bring plenty of ammo if you pick option number two, or you'll end up running away with an empty rifle like me." I thought it would be good to get to know my new comrades. I wasn't thinking of leaving them and once we got to the nearest bar at a friendly station, I wanted to discuss my plans with them. Maybe they'd go with my for my next task.

I nodded in agreement, "Nazis pretty much hate everybody. Unless your what they deam 'pure' they pretty much want you exterminated. They call it 'cleansing,' I call it barbarism." I tried to change the subject by asking our newcomer, " Do you know whats down the other way?"

"The nazis are monsters, apparently they killed thousands of people in 'camps' long ago. How they still exist... I don't know. We have only heard stories of them at exhibition". Yes, stories of Nazi prisoners, forced to work their lives away in the dark for the 'pure' race. I couldn't understand how men could be so cruel to their fellow men. I hoped we wouldn't have to find out.

"Im afraid I dont know where the other way takes us either. I've never been further than my station below ground and I'm completely turned around up here. Where does it lead?". My questions and responses must have seemed stupid to these veterans of the Metro but this world was alien to me. I had heard so much about Moscow from stalkers at our station, read so much about its glory and grandeur from books and heard it from stories told by the old timers. But the reality had been much different.

"The way we are headed leads to an abandoned Nazi outpost that marks the border of Nazi territory, from this side of the metro. It seems to me that you dropped through an upper tunnel somewhere in between the Nazi camp behind us and that empty outpost ahead of us. However, we're not going to the outpost. I don't remember the area beyond that point, so it's best that we make a right soon and go in the vents I mentioned before." We walked on for a few more minutes.

I looked at my surroundings and realized I almost stepped on a broken rifle. I stopped walking and picked up the rifle to check the clip. Empty. I turned to my comrades and spoke, "Passed by here before when I was heading the other way. Three or so hours ago. I remember this half-eaten rifle, we are near the ducts." I moved a little further, looking at the right wall. There was a doorway. "Come on comrades, we go here." I walked into the small room and opened up the duct on the upper part of the wall. "Now we climb, into this." I said to my companions, pointing at the air duct in front of me. "This is the only safe way I can remember that will lead us from here to a little market of sorts and bar that is also nearby. This way is uncomfortable, takes around half of an hour and isn't very nice on your back, but it's worth it for the drinks, rest and extra ammo we will be able to get at the station. Besides, I'd rather not risk my neck by going an unknown way."

"Oh no, no, no. We are not leaving your guitar here. Music is one of the few great, pre-blast things that survived. Besides, to think a little more realistically, I'm sure you'll be able to collect some nice, shiny bullets for playing catchy melodies at the station" I walked towards the man with the guitar and continued, "If you give me your guitar for the duration of this trip, I shall push it on before me. I know the way so I'll be in front of the group and no one will get left behind."

    Before thuner
(sorry, I don't know the names of your characters) could reply, a scream was heard coming from somewhere away in the distance. This was followed by the sound of dogs barking and running. We stood there for a few seconds, not entirely sure what was happening and what we should do next. "Hurry up, the red spy went this way!" was what we heard next. Now I realized that those were the Neo-nazis who chased me out of their station.

"We've lingered here for too long. These assholes are after me, but they're Nazis, they'd shoot anyone with me. They are from the Nazi station nearby. If they die, more will come but with even more attack dogs and better weaponry. Our only chance is escape. Quickly! Everyone into the tunnel!" I exclaimed, grabbing thuner's guitar and throwing it into the duct, before entering it myself. "I promise I won't scratch it too much!" I shouted, before moving on.

No idea, just until we die or we reach our destination.

Climbing into the duct behind Wolf, I crawled after him. The dogs were barking madly, and I didn't plan to be bitten by them. "C'mon guys!" I said.
