I think Cheaptrix may be a better choice for answering that. I use a Hauppauge HD PVR which uploads from my Xbox to my computer, and from there I upload to YouTube. Fairly simple.

    Maybe try FRAPS?

Well your video's quality wasn't too shabby to be honest, its quite watchable really. :pop2:(nice knife work btw)

What I do to get the best balance of quality and performance while recording is firstly set Metro to 1280x720 resolution. Using Afterburner @ 80% won't be as nice as using the latest version (or close to it) of fraps or you could try 100%? lol. I record full res with fraps @ 50 fps capture ( my personal choice for my hardware) I then take my raw AVI files and then put em together in SONY Vegas. After doing that I render the file using a MP4 720p 16:9 preset made for internet uploads. I take that puppy and upload:pop2:

Looks pretty good I think this way:pop2:

I record in 80% quality 720p in Afterburner, and it looks quite good IMO :)
    I don't compress it, though.

The reason why I record at 720p is because its silky smooth frame rates while recording and a very small % of youtube viewers use the 1080p option when available. Another reason is file size, if thats an issue for your your RIG, and harddrive strength... 720p is the way to go.

I can record at 1080p with 60fps and even 90fps.

But main issue is it takes 1hr to encode 1minute of a FullHD video in handbrake, either that or I'm not doing it right.

And sorry about not advertising for this site in my youtube channel, thing is I pretty much don't know how to :|

True well I can record @ 60fps aswel but as long as you are over 30 fps it makes no difference in the end because youtube only takes 30fps vids.

I never tried 60fps recording because I didn't really see a reason. However I just got my new hardware so I am still experimenting with how powerful this new machine is. I can record on 60fps clean(I think I will from now on just for my own viewing pleasure while recording:p), never tried until you just said you did :p.

90fps is just a waste to be honest I think your just going to end up with a bigger file size and then you have to convert to 30fps Mp4 anyways to upload to youtube :p

I have never used handbrake so I cant really help you there. I use SONY Vegas to render my files.

I have SONY Vegas but the file sizes generated are not in my favor :p

And I uploaded some 60fps & 100fps videos on fileserving sites for my friends to show them how fast a game can go, and they were thrilled, though for youtube I am making 24fps videos, because the filesize is short, and efficient. Besides when I had a slower rig getting above 20fps was all that mattered to me ;)

Well the file size is the same no matter what program you use to render, because you should be rendering a MP4 file 16:9 @ 30fps. The level chase for example was only 430 mb after being rendered into MP4.

    Dear sir, that is humongous.

The outpost part 2 video in my channel is only 61.6Mb(720p) on my hard drive, and its a 60fps video, so obviously youtube downgraded it.

No wonder you take so much time with your uploads :p

nvm figured it out. your using MKV. wow i never knew how small i could get them...thx for making me investigate! its a slight downgrade in visual quality from MP4 but its less then half the file size when rendered. :D

Lol you are wrong, for that particular video I used mp4, but for recent videos I use mkv for the vorbis sound codec which is much better than the ones available in mp4.

Lol I don't use bitrate, I use CRF.

And if I have to explain it to you I really don't know where to start :v
