In regards to the redstone circuits and that type of thing, yes I believe it is educational. However, it would be very hard to make kids stay on task while using it as it is essentially a fantasy game.

I think it's a pretty good idea because it encourages creativity. I can see how children could really benefit from using it as an educational tool.

I think if it were used purely as a mandated educational tool then the game would lose some of its luster with younger audiences. Yeah, who wouldn't want to have a homework assignment that's in Minecraft? But, imagine if you had to do something for homework every day. Slowly but surely the game would just become some sort of math problem or other boring schoolwork LOL

The game is an excellent educational tool but I'm not so sure about implementing it into a curriculum. Let the kids use it as a fun little game instead :D

Yes Minecraft is cheaper than having to buy your kids Legos. Have you seen the prices of legos these days and to think I put my mother through all that as I was obsessed with legos. Minecraft is like a one time buy, perfect for keeping your kids happy and saving you money.

I could see it being used in that way. It would be able to help kids visualize math and everything. It would have to be modded a little bit or something. Otherwise kids would get distracted and forget anything informational.

Minecraft would not be bad as an educational tool. I think it's a good game to make kids understand the geometry, nature, minerals, etc.

I still don't think that kids should be forced to learn with yet another electronic program/machine. I think legos would still be better to teach this, because it would actually be social, instead of being on a separate computer, and staring at a screen that much more each week.

I see where you're coming from and if implemented properly, that could work out I believe.

I think Mineraft can be used as an educational too if used cauitiosly, but no one is going to do it as games are perceived as time waste in pour country.

I think it's great for kids to learn for educational when their young but not when their older because they'll be like "I need pickaxe and shovel to survive" xD but yeah too much time on screen can hurt you so it depend on the teaching method of learning.

Yes I agree with all of you. Minecraft engages the student making the experience fresh and fun every time also children are more interested in something if it's a game. Here in the UK some schools already use minecraft in primary schools, this helps children keep happy and be educated as well.

Minecraft is a great educational tool, especially considering the for kids. There a lot of games out there that offer no benefits for kids at all. Minecraft encourages creativity and allows kids to expand on their greatest internal creations. I think it looks better to see younger kids playing a game like Minecraft rather than a game with no benefit, like Angry Birds or Candy Crush, or even violent games like Call of Duty.

I think it'd be really cool to use as an educational tool. It's approved by some school boards for free time in computer labs and classrooms. My mom is a kindergarten teacher and she lets the kids play in their free time. I've actually been impressed a few times at what they build. She lets them take screenshots of their work and lets them hang them around the room. I think it's be cool to use it to teach them about agriculture and architecture.

I've seen Minecraft used as an education tool in various places around the internet. I'm sure I saw some sort of video on YouTube where Google was using Minecraft to teach quantum physics or something to children. Cool stuff.

I think Minecraft is a great idea for arts classes, especially design. I feel Minecraft is a great creative tool for creating and designing things in 3D where you can see what you are doing and is more efficient and interactive than simply drawing it.

I would be usually all for it, and I do think it is a valuable learning tool but my fear it that they get too much sucked in and addicted by the games awesome mechanics and replayability that they forget to go outside and play. That what you're supposed to do when you're young, its what its healthy and prevents your muscles from atrophy and doesn't bend you spine which, arguably, sitting in front of the pc all day will do to you. I know that first hand, my muscles and bones ache cause I don't do much exercise nowadays.

I think it would be possible that this game will be an educational tool but it will doesn't help a lot. It might be a memorization of how to craft a weapons or armors. And also it will help our mind to create things or build things with this.

I absolutely love this idea. It definitely has spurned on the creativity of this old man! The youngster might need some instruction or encouragement, such as asking them to build something, or their creation being the answer to a problem. An example: "Where can the dog go to get out of the rain?". Then the child could create a dog house, tree, or other possibility.

I definitely think that Mincraft could be an educational tool. It teaches survival skills, basic math, programming with redstone and many more things. I just think that many school boards and scared to try it because it is a video game, which is a bad mind set. It could even be used in art class and inspire creativity in the young children.
