    But, I'm... uhhh.. 47! Kidding.

That's a peculiar story there, but the thing is THQ didn't force 4A to put in multiplayer; in fact, 4A wanted to ship multiplayer with Metro 2033 but weren't able to do so due to time constraints.

However, I doubt Yagar has made 2K as much money as 4A has for THQ.

I really doubt that the MP was forced onto THQ, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to cancel it.

Why it makes me same they're putting it on hold/cancelling it. You can tell if you decided they wanted to do it, it would have been qaulity.

As i have already said to Darkbringer in a Private Chat, i think this is a very disappointing behaviour of 4A.
The MP could have really brought soem fresh air into this game, and the combination SP-MP could have brought this game in history of game developing.
Now,i think we can all put the MP of LL into a grave, and bury it deep underground.
As it already has happened, the DLC MP will eb a shitty-ass (excuse me for my words) MP,with almost no connection to the SP and absolutely not fascinating.

After this news,i am reconsidering pre-ordering the Game and buying a Collector Edition.
Also,i will make sure the SP is just ASTONISHING before buying the game.

    Rolf over and out.

I really don't get this itch for a MP component in what is primarily a story-driven single player experience?! In the end, the only relevant question is: is a MP necessary for this type of game? After all, Metro 2033's single player campaign is the reason why we're all here and there's no reason to deviate from that path with the sequel. Leave the tension-breaking dudebro co-op aspects to games like Army of Two, Gears of War, Resident Evil 5/6 and Dead Space 3, leave the mindless online shooting to Modern Warfare, Battlefield and the rest.
Want to shoot each other in the face for the umteenth time online? Fine, but look elsewhere. This is Metro. I'm in it for the single player and so should all of you.

I'm very disappointed, I don't buy a game day 1 for a short single player campaign, I need to get my money's worth, that's where Multiplayer comes in. I smell a rat and that rat is paid Multiplayer DLC. I really am gutted, I was so much looking forward to playing online with friends.

The game's no longer a day one purchase for me.

    I agree.

Metro 2033 was perfectly fine without multiplayer and I couldn't see anyway that they could make the multiplayer work in Last Light anyway other than Co-Op.
I'd rather see a perfectly polished single player and awesome story rather than an OK story and a terrible multiplayer.

The great thing about the Metro 2033 story was that it had so much in it you always found something new almost everytime time you played it.

IMO it's the MP that comes in when you got a SP like M2033's.
You know, after a while it just becomes boring completing the SP 20 times, knowing exactly the number of enemies in each level, their path-routines etc.

I loved M2033 and still do!), but i think that a MP would give it that sparkle that keeps a community alive.
At the end of the day,we have already spoken about almost every detail, character, level, weapons on this forum. If you don't keep innovation up, the community will just fade away.

Also,i'd agree with putting aside the MP part if they worked 120% on the SP to make a 25-30 hour long campaign, and maybe even replayable.
But the only thing they did,is just erasing the MP from the project, without focussing more on the SP.

I'm with you on that, guys. Singleplayer is the most important in this type of narrative-driven game. It would have been nice to get a multiplayer option to play with friends, but I'd rather we didn't get one if development of the main game was to suffer because of it. So kudos to 4A for making the right choice.

@rolfwar: What is with this irrational fascination with quantity over quality? It's irrelevant if the SP is either 8 or 25 hours long. What matters is how satisfying it is.

MP is throwaway entertainment for the masses. It's pointless and completely trivial. However, that being said, I am in favour of 4A developing a standalone Metro-themed multiplayer available for download on steam, xbla or psn.

There are so many ways in which multiplayer could have been ruined that im not at all unhappy about this, just wished they've have done it sooner.

If 4A is still going to develop multiplayer, I'd recommend to 4k to perhaps release a beta/alpha test of the multiplayer if they're having problems determining the feel/fun.

Some of the comments in this thread make me wish we had separate forums for younger folks, or at least list the age of people next to their name so you know the brain its coming from...

I was implying that the campaign has to be long AND well-made. Not just well-made, like the one of M2033.
