I have to play as an opposite gender when I play League of Legends. The only customization is the summoner icons and buying skins.

I play both male and female characters, but I think I probably play males just a bit more. In some games, female characters just look better--like the female blood elf avatar in WoW. I mean . . . yeah. I don't think I divide my male and female characters based on class lines--I have to check, but I think that my healers and crafters are just as often males as my warriors and mages are females.

I am not going to lie. I have played with opposite gender avatars in the past, but I admit it unlike others. Is there something wrong with it?

I've known many male players that played as female avatars just to hustle other guys who dont know any better. You'd be amazed that the real life money some people will spend on someone they dont even know just because they think its some hot girl. "Dude, she sent me a picture!" Yeah? Go nd bing images of "hot chicks" and you could take your pic of who you want to be. lol.
Not that I personally have never played a female character in an offline game for stats or abilities. But to me, playing online, even if your avatar looks nothing like you; I think its still a presentitve of you and who you are.

I'm female but I always make my character a male because I like it more and also it makes me comfortable.

I play both genders equally if an MMO has good graphics just because it's fun and sometimes the voices are more appealing. For older games like WoW I stuck with female avatars because they were more appealing than the male models. Human males were pretty bad before the graphic updates.

Mostly depends on the replay value of a game. As well, as if there's other options only available to that particular sex. I mostly play as my own sex because I felt like seeing more women in games and hope that they're just as equally as bad ass the male counterparts. Other than that, I just play as my sex. Then get called out for being a guy because "There's no girls on the internet!" Oh well, at least I'm not getting hit on.

I used to play female characters more than male just to get out of the masculine norm when it comes to video games especially on RPG's. I also enjoy playing female characters for some reason but for the most part I go with male characters.
