The whys & hows have been explained to you but if you choose to hold onto that preposterous but mostly biased and short-sighted view of yours, then there's nothing else we can do for you.

No publisher means you better hope people enjoy your game. Or at least kickstarter members do.

It's funded by the people for the people by kickstarter. But that wasnt what I ment. I meant that they were showong the world that a game doesnt need a publisher and that if we are treated right we will donate twoards a game before its even out.

It's hard to make an indie game. You need a team of at least like 50 people if you wanna make it amazing and some what fast. That costs money, then you need the engine, then you need office space, computers. It costs a lot of money and unless you get a HUGE amount of people to donate you're stuck either getting a loan from the bank or finding a publisher.

Here we go again. Why are you so sure of this? Have you met any pirates in person? Have you pirated anything? Have you ever talked (not argued, not accused and not harassed) a pirate about what he or she does? Every pirate has different motives for pirating. You do not know every pirate in the world, so you cannot make a statement like that. You cannot speak for such a large group of people.

In fact yea I do pirate. I know a lot of pirates and we all do it for the same reason. We can't afford much. I live with a single mother who has been laid off. She raises two children one about to go to college (me) and one about to go to high school (my brother). I pirate because I can't afford much at all. My friends and the people I know who pirate do it because they can't afford much at all either. I know some people who pirate a game to try it out but 80% of the time people pirate because they want it for free.

There now you know are you happy?

there always more than one reason that you mentioned why people pirating
    a game.

in my country , the game that have genuine/original are very rare, you had to purchase online which is hard since most people like me doesnt have credit card..
and also its really expensive ( a half of one dollar is worth to be spent )...

"try to get better understanding of thing before make your judgement.." seem right in these case :p

You just said that they are expensive and that they just want it for free. You just helped my argument so just get out.

I pirate randomly. I don't pirate strictly as "try-before-you-buy", but I usually end up buying the original game/movie if I find that the benefits of being a legitimate owner or preferring the original service is worth the extra bucks (sort of like the Valve-guy stated pirates did)

No, not at all. This doesn't really lessen the ignorance of your original statement. Now that we know that you are a pirate, you can safely say that you pirate things because you want them for free. However, that doesn't mean you can speak for millions of others.

Do you even pirate? The only reason you truely pirate it to get something for free. Even if you say "Oh DRM DRM DRM nope i won't pay for it" well guess what. you're pirating it so you don't have to pay for it.

Mr. Shurfire, I hold in my hands legally purchased retail copies of both the PC and 360 version of Metro 2033, bought at launch and at full price. Yet, on PC, I play the pirated version. Why? Because Mr. No-Fucking-DRM-On-My-Rig said so.

And here's a vacuum cleaner for that shattered argument of yours. It made a mess.

What DRM in on Metro? Steam? Doesn't really restrict you since you can pretty much do what ever you want with your digital copy. Mods, hacks anything. Steam is amazing because it gives indie developers a chance to sell their games.

And you're not a pirate. Do you pirate everything? Do you pirate games, movies and music constantly? No. A true pirate does that you just pirated one thing and in truth you bought the game so that one pirate doesn't count.

Well there is a difference with what Cerberus did. He BOUGHT the pc version and instead of downloading it on steam he just pirated it. Since he didn't download it before and it was his first time downloading it, his version is still counted as a paid product considering he most likely used his own key.

Steam being amazing is popular opinion. Steam is DRM. It's intrusive and it's restrictive. Why? Because if I don't install Steam, I can't play Metro 2033. The end.

Even though this is irrelevant; Steam has indeed opened up a portal :)drum:) for indie devs but there's a far better alternative they can turn to and it's GoodOldGames.com. Unlike Steam, digital copies from Gog.com do give you the freedom to do whatever you want with them: no DRM, infinite backups, mods and all the other bells and whistles you'd expect. Add to that significant bonus content such as wallpapers, soundtracks, interviews, 'Making Of' videos, etc. and we've got ourselves a trustworthy and gamer-friendly service. On a personal note: as soon as Metro 2033 hits Gog, I will delete my pirated copy and buy the Gog version (and sell my other worthless PC copy).
All irrelevant. Your point was that no one pirates software because of DRM. This has now been debunked and I bid you a good night.

If I took part in illegal activities, would I go out into the crowds and let myself get arrested? Going on the internet and telling people that you are a pirate is quite similar, only there's always a huge chance that your comment will not be noticed by those with the power to take away your freedom - simply thanks to the massive size of the internet.

Anyway, my point being to everyone on this forum: be careful and pay attention to what you say on the internet, because you never know who might be reading.

I said most people who pirate are just looking to get something free and even the people who pirate because of DRM are still pirating so they can get it for free. In truth your copy is a legit bought copy.
