Playstation 4 Announcement

My worry is that at this point is that developers' efforts at increasing what they can do with the consoles will be wasted. I doubt they've hit the limits yet. I mean, Metro Last Light comes out looking good and suddenly we got to switch over to the next generation?

 

All this stuff about the PC having much better graphics, from the look of Watchdogs, they aren't exactly bad

 

Were not talking about better graphics. Were talking about what the thing that processes those graphics is. The ps4's is looking bad. It's already dated and I can't imagine it lasting 6 years.

 

A scaled down medium range PC that can't do anything but games.

 

The only impressing thing from the ps4 was the livestream thing.
But even that was really lame.

Dated compared to high-end PCs, yes. But, it's so much better than any console out there, and most likely will be for the next generation (I doubt Microsoft will try to outdo them graphically).

 

NO DOUBT THERE. But the prolbem is there using a 2 gen old mid end gpu. That's already quite dated. I cant imagine it lasting 6 years.

 

Wow, based on these specs it sounds like it will be ALMOST as powerful as my PC! That I built over three years ago...

It's enough for a console, don't compare everything with a PC. Honestly, I don't give a shit about graphics, but it's a good step forward from PS3 -> PS4.

 

I agree about that man. But I was expecting more from the hardware so we could advance in gameplay. worlds as big as microsoft flight x. Gameplay>Graphics.

I completely agree with you. I think many of todays games focus too much on the graphics and not on the story; but if they focus on both of these factors at their full potential, you get a masterpiece lilke Metro.

 

Gameplay>Story>Audio>>>>Graphics

 

The GDDR5 RAM is a nice surprise... this may give the PS4 an unexpected edge over some of the gaming PCs, but not for long. I wonder what Microsoft comes up with for the Nextbox. Personally, I've been planning on building a PC since a year or two ago anyway - I just don't have the cash for it. I doubt that I'd have the cash for overpriced consoles either.

 

Here is the problem. New consoles cost around $600. That's a lot of money. Now a normal home PC costs around $500-$800. That's a total of about $1100+. That's a lot of money for a new gaming PC that will outlast a console. Then you factor in the savings of PC games and your PC saves you money over time. One console game might last you a month (single player). A single-player pc game will last you about 5 months because of all the mods you have. People make entire expansions for games! Games are also cheaper. There are some killer games out there that are only about $20 that will last you months. Then you factor in f2p games like Planetside 2, TERA, LoL, Smite and other games, your PC saves you even more money! Over all PC is the best choice for gaming since you could also multi-task! Loading is a shit ton faster! In Skyrim it takes a while to load a new area on consoles. On a decent PC it's nearly in a heart beat! I load Metro 2033 level before Artyom says a word! PS4 is just lame and if I were to buy a console it would be the Nextbox...after it's a shit ton cheaper and only if all my friends got it and even then I wouldn't know if I would get it.

Although I am shitting my pants about Watch Dogs. I just hope they don't fuck it up.

 

I personally wouldn't buy a console from the people who want to make gamers pay for online.

 

Well I find the $60 a year for XBL is worth it if you can spare the cash. It makes it feel almost like a PC since you have Xbox live parties (Teamspeak, vent, mumble or what ever other thing you use) you have a form of keeping hackers out of games, (Punkbuster and other forms of keeping hackers out) and you get some sweet exclusives like Halo 4 and Gears of War. Metro 2033 also counts since it's 360 and PC only.

Oh and I found my 360 Metro disc. Doesn't really matter though since I got it for PC from the humble bundle.
