I jumped so high in surprise that I almost hit the ceiling of the cruiser with my head. Someone replied on the radio. I stared at the radio with wide eyes, driving down a straight road. It seemed to be the people from the hotel. How? How could it happen that they, of all the people in the world, had a police radio? I almost believed it to be a set-up; First I hear the people at the hotel and almost meet them. Then, they respond on a radio into my cruiser. I eventually picked up the radio and clicked the button "This is officer Scott of the third rank. I'm on my way to your location now. What floor are you on? Over". I kept driving, and were getting closer and closer to the hotel.

click "Ehh ehhmmm. Uh, we're on the top level here; facing northbound, toward the super market." My heart was racing. Who knew that there would still be some organized assistance around here -so much after a week, or was it two, after the outbreak. "We'll ehhm...We'll meet you front side ready to head out. Over." I waited, hovering over the radio for a moment, then jumped back and began grabbing my things, along with what food was found, and put them inside of a blue pillow case that was conveniently lying on the floor. I passed it over to Svetlana with a smile, in case she wanted to put her belongings, or anything else for that matter, into the pillow case.

I jolted to the window and swung my feet over the ledge. Four stories down is a long way to fall, I thought. I went back inside and grabbed an umbrella to reach over and drop the ladder down from it's latch. Not very convenient in the face of an emergency. The latch released and the ladder fell, stopping about ten feet from the ground. I laughed graciously.

Going back inside, I paced around the room, looking for anything might be of use; but I didn't find much, except for a box of matches that sat atop of a bookshelf.

I was about to mention the load of dead ones in the hotel's stairways, but I figured they'd already know about that and would have a means of getting down, so I wasted no time. "Alright, I'll be there any minute now. And bring that radio with you if it's not stationary. Out". I could see the hotel now. I tried to drive as calmly as I could, so that the engine would be as silent as possible, to avoid any unwanted attention. I turned around a street-corner and could now see the front side of the hotel, from top to bottom with no buildings in between. Just about a hundred yards left.

    DarknessEnvelops: where are you at?

Svetlana was already out the window and waiting down below. I stuffed the matches in my front pocket and was headed out too. The police woman, officer Scott, came back on the radio. Chhhk "Alright, I'll be there any minute now. And bring that radio with you if it's not stationary. Out." I gabbed the receiver one last time, clicked it on, and breathed into it stupidly before hanging it up. The unit itself was stationary, but there was a extension that held a set of portable radios. Two remained out of the three radios that the extension could hold. They appeared to have been charging. I disconnected them and dropped them into the the pillow case and headed out the window.

Swinging over onto the ladder, I climbed down the thin dowels of welded metal to the ground below. "Let's go!" I said, stating the obvious. Rock pick in hand and pillow case swung over my right shoulder, I might appear like a Santa Clause doing dirty deeds early on in the year. I passed cautiously by the back way, in which I initially came in through, and could see the artwork of Zedheads laying on the the orange soup tile. They twitched.

Clearing around the corner to the front, I crashed into a frail Zed -by the looks of it, it had been an old man. It fell backward onto the pavement and rolled clumsily on the side walk, trying to stand back up. I swung my leg and kicked it in the head until it stopped moving. My boot became covered in gross fluid. I could see the squad car driving down the road now.

First thing I saw while driving down the road, was who appeared to be 'Turnbike', kicking the head of a dead one on the ground, until it died for good. I rolled up to them and stopped the car with the window down and my aviator sunglasses on, looking at them. "I guess there's no time to stop right now. There's too many of them around. Hop in the back", I nudged with my head. There was a grate between the front seats and the rear seats, just like in all police cruisers, to separate any convicts from the driver. I looked at the huge bullet-hole in the windshield and sighed.

    Where you are now?

"What the hell are you doing? You're meant to be at the shack." I said to the guy I'd given my revolver to as a police woman in a police car pulled up "What about the sniper? What happened?" The fires were dying out now and zombies probably would turn up again

I look at the police car and hope to the goddess my mother is with them just so I can bash her brains in with my crowbar but sadly she is not I just politely nod at turn and shrug at the new commer before resumming watching the police lady pull up jumping in the shotgun seat of the car and smirking abit crazyly at her.

Grim Reaper himself came around the corner - Black trench coat, black cowboy hat, black bandana and sunglasses. This guy looked like some bandit from a hollywood western-movie. I wanted to bring out some weapons and make sure I had everything in control, but I figured it'd only make matters worse, as tension was building up. I just sat still in my seat and looked over at the girl who had sat down in the front seat beside me. I looked her up and down quickly. I knew her type. But I guess now that society was falling together, we weren't so different any longer after all, other than our general behaviour.

I realized that the black-clothed man was apparently coming with us, since she placed herself in the front seat. "Come on, let's get a move-on! You can talk once you're in the car and we're outta here!", I said loudly to the two out through the window.

Cool; well, we're together now :). Also, I messed up with Svetlana's RP character's name by calling her "Svetlana," while, in fact, it's actually Lana.. Edit: I just found out I can call her Svetlana, but just for the heck of it, I'll call her Lana right now.

The back seat? I questioned the command, in my head, as the woman officer told Lana and I, to do, when we got inside in the car. Preacher reappeared and asked questions.

"The sniper isn't where we thought he was" I said, looking around at the deserted town. "Or, he bolted from his nest just as we" I pointed back and forth over from Lana and me "got there." I approached the car cautiously and opened the rear door on the driver's side and climbed in, slowly. I pulled out some stashed receipt paper I had in my coat pocket and began folding it in halves to wedge in between the door and the frame when the door was closed -in case Lana , preacher, and I needed to escape and could still open the door from the inside. Luckily, Lana disobeyed, or simply didn't hear the officer, and went to sit in the front seat; so escape can be achieved, even with me in the back seat. I threw out the receipt paper and closed the door.

I clutched onto the pillow case, which was atop of my lap, like an old woman would do when she rode by means of public transportation. I looked at Preacher from the window and thumbed him to get in the car.

I glanced at officer Scott through the rear view mirror, for a moment, before breaking the stare and looking back at the hotel. Some Zedheads were coming out from the side door and from alleyways near by.

I'm gonna give you about six hours to reply so we can get onto the road again, DarknessEnvelops, or I'll RP that you just stood there and didn't come with us. It's not cool of you to just be away for so long and then jump in and slow things down with one short post. Though the RP Help/Rules-thread is in the LL RP subcategory, it counts here too.

Well, looks like I gave him more than those six hours. From his last post, more like a week to be more specific. Sorry, Darkness, but it just doesn't work :(

Dead Ones started stumbling out from the hotel's doors and the dark alleyways surrounding us, and the stranger made no indication of getting into the car. This would lead me to tell the girl to get into the back with Mister Turnbike, but there was no time for that. Quickly I closed my window and sped away, just in time before the Dead Ones got to us. I didn't look in the rearview mirror to see what happened with the man because I was so fixated on the road ahead, and to get away from the swarm of dead ones. I went almost kind of grumpy because of the Grim Reaper-man's behavior, but also calm at the same time as I was almost a bit pleased that a man like that had decided not to come with us. I knew what kind of people I wanted around me, and he didn't look to be one of them. But then again, neither did the girl beside me... or the guy behind me... or anyone I'd met so far in this apocalypse... not even my own mother.

"Name's Scott. Kimberly Scott, but you can just call me Kimii. I'm the new Sheriff in town. .... So what the hell were you guys doing in that hotel?", I asked as I tried to look through the bullet-hole in the glass-shield. I wondered how that had gotten there. I then looked at Turnbike in the mirror and then the girl beside me. There was something familiar about her. Yes, I had dealt with a lot of criminals in my time, but never her. Why not? I felt like I had seen her before, but only in my mind. Like someone had told me about her, but at the same time she reminded me of someone I knew..

The middle distance changed slightly as the car sped away and the zombies closed in. I always lost my concentration throughout life and this lapse could cost me my life. No, of course it wouldn't I briskly walked away. I wanted to go back home. My idea of being God's Reaper was slowly losing it's novelty. I felt no longer like the protector or anything. The end of the world gives you time to reflect, I'll give it that. I wondered if my family were alive, my extended family in Britain. Had the disease spread or was this some cruel reality TV show to see who lives the longest when a fungal disease is introduced?
I didn't know and didn't much care. My end of the world phase had given me a great start off point for living through the end of the world and seeing what was afterwards if there was an afterwards. I may from now on live in my shack. Venturing out once or twice to see if anyone was left. Or I could attempt to find those three who just left. Maybe, but shack first, I had to rearm and refuel.

Officer Scott, now Kimii, sped off away from Preacher as I closed the door. I turned back to see his silhouette in the distance as the hoard of Zedheads burst out from an alleyway near him. Knowing him, though, I'm sure he could manage to make it away without getting killed (some what like the preacher from HL2?).

I turned back around, somewhat in disbelief, and caught Kimii's eye looking at me through the mirror. I quickly looked away and stared out into the burning city and occasionally caught the glimpse of a pocket of Zedheads, here and there. Also, Kimii's statement: "new sheriff in town." What'd she mean by that? Was she just a wandering stray, like us, and decided to pick off the cloths off of one of the many dead officers scattered around the town and call herself sheriff? I kept my guard high and answered here question. "I was," I stated, pausing for a moment "at the hotel to look for a sniper who was shooting at a group I was in, earlier this day. Then Svetlana," I said, pointing over at her "came out of no where and, well, helped out! I don't know where she came from, exactly, but that man back there, the one you left, was initially part of the group I was in. He apparently has a shack, somewhere, on the outskirts of town, filled to the roof with the armaments we need to help us survive." I paused for a while, recollecting what I said, before asking a question myself.

"Where exactly are we going?" I said, sternly.

I processed everything in my mind that Turnbike said. When he said the girl's name, my mouth almost slipped out a question to her, but I managed to stop it as he kept talking, until he finished. "Well...", I said before pausing for a moment. My original plan was to go to the police station again, but upon second thought, I'd might want to keep that out of anyone's hands but my own. And this shack he spoke of, was intriguing. "...I guess we're going to that shack of your friend..", I took some time to calm my voice, but continued determinedly "If I hadn't left him back there, we'd be in the middle of that pit of dead meat right with him, and you know it, so stop making it sound like I should've done something differently", I finished, leaving the ice intact.

I grew calmer after Kimii's decision on taking us to the Preacher's cabin, wherever that may be, and readjusted in the back of the seat. To think that the law was still intact during a time, like this. Keep the living in custody and let the ones doing the crimes run rampant in the streets. Whatever.
"Well, gee, then. I guess I never thank you properly for picking us up and giving us a ride." I stated, somewhat sarcastically; trying to sound tough but, in reality, I really meant the gratitude. The words lingered in the air with bitter taste. "Thanks. The shack is suppose to around the edge of town, something like that. I'm sure It'll be easy to find, considering that their aren't too many properties out skirting the edges of Elderwood. " The squad car hummed past abandoned shops that were once focal points to the town's market. "And I've got two portable, communication radios at hand from the hotel room we were at." I told Kimmi, as well as to let Svetlana know of my possessions. "One will be for Svetlana and the other for me. I assume you already have your own."

I strolled into the forest, I had lost all the zombies and was perfectly calm. The God's reaper character had to go, keep the clothes and everything because they looked cool but the accent and god bothering, that had to stop. Back to my real accent, BBC english, it's time to wipe off the disguise. My shack came into view. I passed one of the many signs surrounding the shack saying 'come no closer, shout for assistance', a hazard warning, the shack was surrounded by a ring of fougasse mines then some more bouncing mines, I knew where they all were. I followed the path to the shack.
From the outside, it was a hillbilly shack, porch included with chair. Round the back was a garden and next to the garden, a generator fueled by petrol and solar panels in a clearing not far away. the generator powered sprinklers and the house. I walked into the shack. My home. In one corner was a sofa, and two armchairs and across from that, an HDTV because I will watch my films in high definition. To the right was my kitchen, running water and cooker included. In the center was the bookcase with books I had read many times over. But this one floor shack had a basement. Under me was a trap door. Open it up and down I go. Twice the size of the shack, it was my bunker. In it was an armory and my supply of canned food and also my double bed with cd player. I had the world's supply of batteries to go with it, phone and normal. I lived the high life. I bet the other three hadn't had a good night's sleep in a while. I have one every night. I put my uzi away, regretted the loss of my revolver, pulled out a shotgun and ventured out onto the porch, not before picking up a copy of Little People by Tom Holt, and sat down on the rocking chair outside to read, shotgun by my side

Turnbike seemed to have plans for the radios; one for himself and one for his friend. I was about to protest, but realized that if not to give them to anyone, what use would I have of them? "That'll do", I replied slightly more cheerily. We drove for quite a while. So long that the man had probably already arrived at his shack on foot, while we were still driving around in the car. I don't know how much time passed, when we were driving up a dirt-road, and I stopped the car and went outside. Several warning-signs were visible, saying "Come no closer, shout for assistance". I didn't really know what to make of it. If I yelled, it could be a trap, and we'd be surrounded.

I shook out of my paranoia, realizing that although the world was infested with dead ones, and it was every man for himself, it had only been what... a couple weeks? Besides, this was most likely the road up to the shack, by the looks of it. "Heeey!", I yelled up the road eventually. It would probably not attract any unwanted attention, considering how far we were out into the forest from Elderwood.
