Preorder bonuses made me not to buy this game

That's just stupid. That's about the price for a DLC.

A section of the community has spoken

    http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/05/10/i...isnt-it-included-for-all-players-we-ask-koch/

    Read the comments.

You've still segregated the community by offering different regional incentives. Where is our CE? Why can't we get a copy of the book regardless if it's Dimitry's way of getting his own back at America who refused to publish it?

Offering a digital comic which I read months ago or military grade bullets and higher powered weapons in a game which emphasises "Survival" and "Scarcity of ammunition" is a great incentive.

Imagine if COD said "Pre-order now and be guaranteed to play TDM. The way COD is meant to be played" There would be a similar backlash.

Pure hogwash. Truly a nonsensical degree of inflexibility.

Besides which... From a narrative standpoint, it's a year after the events of M2033 and Artyom is now a Ranger -- you think it's unlikely that he'd have a standard issue WP carbine and ~3 magazines of MGR?

Ha. Did you actually play 1999 mode? Maybe it was something more when there were still nostrums/character permanence in the game, but in the final version, the only difference is "increased damage received/increased enemy HP." It bears no resemblance whatsoever to what Levine described back in 2011.

“Game makers and publishers now live in a world where offering game content as a pre-order exclusive is a requirement by retail, and Ranger Mode seemed like the best choice since it was a mode for hardcore fans who would most likely pre-order the game, or purchase it at launch in any case,” he says. “We rejected requests to make story content or additional missions exclusive. We also rejected requests to make this a timed exclusive.”

    Gee thanks.

I personally don't have a problem with the preorder exclusive. I preordered the game, and planned on preordering the game from the first hints of a sequel, regardless of any preorder exclusives. You arnt having to pay any extra fee for the DLC if you preorder or pick up the game up within the first few days, so I don't see what the big deal is. If you're a fan of the game and want the DLC go preorder it, if you don't, no offense to anyone but that's your problem.

LOL - People complaining about $5 when they have $600+ components in their pc's just to play the game at max details.

if Ranger mode gets more people to preorder, then I say that's a good thing. People who want to support the series shouldn't bitch and moan over $5. Sure, it might be a little questionable on principle... but look at the state of the gaming industry.

All games nowadays live and die by their first few weeks of sales. Investors look at a game that's not moving a lot of units and they'll consider it a failure. In some cases, they might even abandon the IP.

To me, it's worth pre-ordering (or paying $5 at the day of release) just for the chance of a third Metro game being made.

Are you comparing a PC to a game?

You don't pay $600+ Just to get the PC, play on it a few times and then just have it hanging there. A PC can be used for many different things and not just for entertainment.

A game on the other hand is only used for entertainment, You can't get help from a game. You can't communicate with people in a game. You can't work in a game. You can't do your homework in a game etc.

Seriously games are utterly overpriced in my opinion. I don't really have the money to spend around on video games (like 60$), I really don't. especially in today's situation.

If you can pay extra for something that is supposed to be included in the actual game, because as they say "it is meant to be played with this difficulty level" then good for you.

    But I can't.

They rejected stuff which is what is probably one of the bizarre marketing contributors to THQ's demise. Personally I would rather do without pre-order stuff, but if it's a retail requirement then offer something of "value" and not something which causes division not only among hardcore fans here, but which is also echoed amongst the gaming community in general.

Pre-order bonuses are meant to offer choice not hold us at ransom.

    Arkane did it right by.

Look at what the last of us is offering.

Whilst I know this was THQ's decision and something DS had inherited, I would have wished that they offered more content. Maybe there wasn't enough time, but I sure do hope that for the next Metro game they absolutely nail it when it comes to content. Most of the stuff in the list from Naughty Dog we all mentioned here ages ago with regards to posters, sound tracks, the making of the game bonus content etc.

If I get banned again I don't care. Only sheeps or those who have been paid of will succumb to this. What's ironic is that before this forum became endorsed by Deep Silver that certain members had a different attitude about this.

As far as I'm concerned only Bamul understands my point and the OP. This is the industry we're in today.

As I've mentioned 100000X before I don't give a shit about THQ, nor Deep Silver. I care about 4A (the creators) of this game. It is them who I feel sorry for if this game sells below expectations and it's because of them I bought it as I feel they would not have wanted any of this. History from Eastern developers makes me believe this.

Anyway the Steam Sale attitude is echoed everywhere and the video I posted above re-iterates my point from a known YT personality.

I would say (note: Im not defending Deep Silver (or am I...?), but I want to bring in another view since they dont want to say much in this thread), that most gaming industries are in such a way, that they have to find ways to earn money.

Ok, now I brought that up. My opinion about this though, is of course that it is a bad idea to charge $5 dollars extra for a Difficulty. It's stupid!
BUT, I can also imagine this to have been a quick idea, not very well thought through from Deep Silver. I won't blame them for that.
It's too bad they havent made up another option of ideas (as it looks like) that could've worked, such as a Concept Art book (downloadable if you buy the LE on steam), OST to the game, perhaps a DVD? I mean, with a extra DVD Im sure you could charge another $10 without people going ALL too mad.

seriously, we need to think further. >_>
