They'll probably do the same as they did with Metro 2033 and release the DLC for free after a year or so. But for real the retail Limited Edition is cheaper here in Sweden than the Standard Edition. If it's a question of money you should go to Greenmangaming and use a 25% discount code to get the game for $37.50 instead of $50. The prices wont sink for a good while and it would be a shame to miss out on a great game.

I don't feel anyone should be banned for voicing opinions like this, really. There's room for discussion, and it's perfectly understandable for people to feel the way they do.

This was just a situation where we had to look at the game we got and the release date, and try to make the best of it by adding other things and offering 10% if you owned Metro 2033.

It's definitely not bad for people to raise their voice against this kind of stuff, if you ask me. It helps those who relay the community's voice to make a good case towards those who decide these things in the future. If there will be a new Metro game after this, where we can decide from the start what kind of pre-order bonuses -- if any -- we need for release, the community response can and should be taken into account.

Still, for Metro: Last Light I do hope you won't let old decisions and publisher switches stand in the way of just enjoying the game next week, when it's finally in your hands after all this time.

I agree with you, Majnu. However, I'll still play the game with Ranger Mode. I pre-ordered the game so I would not have to pay extra for Ranger Mode later on... and I agree completely, it's absolute crap that I felt forced to do this. I would not have done this with any other game. After all, Last Light is the second game I've ever pre-ordered in my whole life so far. Normally I wait a few months, sometimes even a year or two, to get a game that I really like so I don't have to pay the ridiculously high release price. Making people pay extra for a difficulty setting is really shady business practice.

Still, I'm not mad at you, Professor Pew, and I personally think that you deserve no hate from any of the members of this forum. Publishers are publishers and they'll always use things like this, unless the whole gaming industry changes... and for that to happen, the society around it needs changing too. Deep Silver is in a better financial situation than THQ, so I don't think they'll do anything like this to get more money from new releases in the future. And even if they do, then Professor Pew is not to blame.

As he has stated himself numerous times before, he does not take part in the decision making process at the company. His job is to communicate with us and pass our words onto his employers and 4A Games, so it seems to me that he is doing a brilliant job. Whether the publisher or developer actually act on his advice is a different matter altogether and something that is not up to him.

What the fuck was that answer to PCgamer? I thought they only did because THQ fucked up, but there it looks like Deep Silver own idea. (timed exclusive)

    No I won't.;)

Justifying Ranger mode as a pre-order incentive as being reasonable is what is causing so many people to become frustrated. Just as Angry Joe alludes to in his video.

If your earlier comments from a month ago was given as a reply in response to PC gamer I would have thought nothing about it and understood the situation as I did back then, but Huw made it worse imo.

Anyway, moving on I do trust in you as a community manager to explain the circumstance and in any future Metro games this can all be avoided much earlier on.

I hope you haven't bought it, because you won a copy: http://www.lastlightforum.com/showthread.php?t=4777

If you have, quickly contact steam support to cancel your pre-order or, alternatively, give your extra copy away to whoever you want to :)

Unfortunately, it will. I do not intend to buy this game until it's very cheap.

Does these numbers account for the great deal of players that just grabbed the game for free and never even installed it?
And since DS says that it is meant to be played in Ranger mode, then why is it not included by default?

Sucks for 4A Games since it looks like they made a worthy sequel to Metro 2033 that's been getting great reviews and that's all that could have been asked of them but thanks to the now defunct publisher THQ not sure if or how much DS is to blame the game has taken a reputation hit. Removing a difficulty mode forcing people to either pre-order or pay $5 is a shitty thing to do. This can't help Metro: Last Light's sales. I wish I could give my money directly to 4A Games.

I don't know why Angry Joey is bitching so hard about this, he probably couldn't beat Ranger Hardcore anyway.

I can relate with Angry Joe here. I can relate with him most of the time, but in this video especially. Sure - he got some facts wrong, but I understand why he is furious. I was frustrated about it too.

They made a weird decision to make that the preorder bonus. Sometimes the managerial choices are totally illogical.

Coming from someone who put 161 hours in the first game... It's pretty obvious I loved the first metro and had every intention of pre ordering the next one....So with that said... Its my bad for not ordering the game in time and saving a few extra bucks for owning the first one (rough times right now)... im not going to shell out the money for a game that doesn't have the difficulty level i prefer. My money is tight right now and i have to choose wisely what i spend money on, and the fact that i cant play this game how i want to without spending extra money on a mode that came free in the orginal just really ticks me off... On a positive note if i can find a limited copy somewhere retail then i will most likely cop it.

Does anyone know for how long approx. the limited edition will be in stores. I ask that because you can still find limited editions of Rage and Darksiders II in stores to this day? Will LL be similar to that situation or is it different?
