    I agree wholeheartedly. If the devs had enough time to implement some type of non-HUD action that allowed you to check ammo in your bag, that would be ideal. Maybe- Hold P and you look into your bag and see a general amount of each type of bullets; low, medium, max, or none. It wouldn't break immersion so long as it didn't pause time.

    Us realism mongers can't go expecting too much, however, otherwise we're left loading up clips with bullets manually.

    As a compromise, I am looking for a way to enable the HUD in Ranger mode in my other thread. If anyone is good at light modding, please hit me up.

    Well I mean, if you have mutants charging at you, it's hardly the time to check your ammo. It was a feature in 2033 that made Hardcore actually bearable.There are plenty of safe moments in the tunnels when we could "realistically" open up our bag and take a quick account of how many clips we have before we go charging into battle. It really makes no sense, from a realism or gameplay perspective, to be completely unable to check out inventory. Relying on memory is both pointless and futile, as you never even know how much ammo you're picking up. When I first got a gun after our little escapade with Pavel (vague enough to not be a spoiler IMO), I literally had no idea how much ammo it had, and how much I had in reserve. I shouldn't have to keep a checklist next to me and leave a mark every time I fire off a magazine from my pistol, this just seems way too much like a design oversight than a design decision.

    Don't get me wrong, I completely agree it's a very half-baked idea in it's current state..all I'm saying is you -can- deal with it whereas I originally thought "man screw this" The bigger issue for a realism buff like me is how stupendously easy stealth is, especially compared to games like dishonored or thief series etc.. enemies are utterly moronic, always end up facing away from the action for an easy knockout/throat-slit and are happy to stroll past corpses not even noticing anything's a bit off. And it's artificial too.. the only real challenge one could try is NOT waiting for the dialogues to play out.. if you DO (which all of us will ANYWAY since we want the lore) it becomes way too easy, even on ranger hc. I really hope they look into this and the hud if they ever make a new sequel.. as it stands, going in guns blazing is actually more fun and way less predictable.

    Is there a how to guide anywhere? I am playing on Ranger Hardcore and dealing with the no HUD is kinda of a PITA.

    I have a question... if my bullets are lighting people on fire does that mean I am using the bullets that are used as currency? How do I switch?

    I figured out how to switch throwing weapons but man this is getting annoying.

    ? For how long... that doesn't really make any sense. I am shooting people and the bullets have flames when the hit the person.

    If you are saying the bullets catch people on fire after hitting a lamp that doesn't really make sense. I could see a lamp catching someone on fire if they are standing next to it but why would my rounds all of a sudden have an incendiary effect after shooting a lamp?

    Also there are no lamps around!

    Yes, the MGR in LL have incendiary damage. To switch, atleast on 360, is hold Y and press RB if I remember correctly.

    Breezed through ranger hardcore without any trouble. Far too easy this time around. I was swimming in extra ammo and filters throughout the entire game and no enemy provided challenge.

    Changes I'd like to see:

    - remove bullet restrictions
    - allow items/bullets to be viewed when holding Tab or bringing up journal (like 2033)
    - Add a huge amount of drop to throwing knives (too overpowered)
    - Allow items to be keybindable (none of this dpad nonsense)
    - Make enemies more perceptive (blue light on watch =/= challenging stealth)
    - more traps (broken glass/tin cans/spike logs etc)

    I'm having a lot more fun with run and gun approach because at least enemies put up a fight. Currently stealth is waaaay too easy.

    Yup, pretty much what I was just writing in the other thread.. the knives need the nerf bat and the human ai needs to get a hell of a lot better. Less filters and gas masks too.. annoys me that people bitched about this in 2033 and now we have a situation where it's not only never an issue.. you'd have to REALLY REALLY try to even get close to running out, which really kills any sense of urgency when on the surface. Also, what happened to the bayonets? Bring that shit back guys, seriously.

    Playing Ranger normal and enjoying it. However I've notice few things that are kind of annoying. The ammo restriction of what you can carry is pretty lame. You can carry a lot and I mean a lot of MGR's but not few extra magazines. It doesn't make sense. I play a stealthy game whenever I can and fill up my inventory fast. The restriction on explosives and so on I understand but the restriction of ammo is just such a waste. Whenever I run into a town I just sell every ammo type of what I don't use and in the next area or two I fill it up again. The only thing I run out of frequently is shotgun rounds. The quad shotgun is awesome but you have very few reloads.

    I see some of you complain about the no HUD thing, that's why it is in fact hardcore and only for the most experienced players. If you play trough the game once or twice you're pretty much expected to know all controls. To not see how much ammo you got left is pretty nice, adds the fear of running out. Best way is to reload when you can and if you cannot reload anymore you only got one clip left. That's one way to find out.

    I have no HUD playing ranger hardcore and I like that ! Only takes a bit of time getting use to the feel but then you only want to play this way .

    I wish you could press a button and it would tilt the gun or open to see ammunition left inside or hold it longer to check how many cartridges your carrying by showing them in your hand .

    For stealth they just need to hear you more when changing filters , walking on glass , turning on your night vision or even spotting the green tint . NPC should be on radio call timer , so if you kill one be sure you killed the NPC after he called in . If you are to slow to move they will send a few to his location or turn on the room lights for a few seconds and sweep - this would add more rush to clean out the room and picking the targets in the right order . They spotted me once because I reloaded my gun near an NPC so that was cool .

    Registered to bump this so it doesn't fall off the front page.

    I agree with the other concerns here, primarily being unable to check pooled ammo and gas mask filters. Also, however, I dread getting to the surface sections where time is limited but I still want to have a quick forrage for loot. The only way to tell now if a body has loot is to stand over it and spam the 'x' button, listening for the click of rounds collected. There's no way I'm going to try that with every body that I encounter up there, especially if I can't tell whether the current gas mask filter is my last!

    Deep Silver need to acknowledge all of this, I feel like I went through the hassle of pre-ordering just to get a botched mode.

    Idk if there's another thread for this but has anyone from deep silver mentioned a future patch for the Ranger achievements not unlocking? I know this topic is exhausted in other forums but i have yet to see a response from someone in a position of power.
