[ROLEPLAY] Enter the Metro!

The barman takes this motley assortment of replies as assent and pushes the door behind the bar open, revealing a cold, shadowy annexe he evidently uses as a store room. Light floods in, sending rats scurrying for their tunnels, which dot the walls. Getting them out's going to require quite a lot of patients. The barman closes the door on you again, and you light up your torches, each member of the party picking a cluster of tunnel exits. A few hours of silent waiting interspersed with frantic stabbing later, and you emerge with a bloody harvest of rats: twenty, all told, which'll fetch you a small bounty from the barkeep.

As you make your way back through the door, the barkeep looks impressed. He wasn't expecting such prowess from a bunch of wet-behind-the-ears newbies, and the bloodstains that decorate your armour can only add to your perceived badassery.

"Kill 'em like the rats they are! Truly a battle to go down in the annals of history! Here's 60 bullets, don't spend them all at once. And as a bonus, a vodka on me. Pleasure doing business with you all."

You're standing in the corners of the bar, sweating and smelling slightly of rat, as patrons being to file in, released from the metaphorical chains of their work for a short lunch break. Where do you want to go now?

Normally I'd wait for the whole party to be ready before I resolve events, but a single event like this with minor consequences is easier to just deal with straight away. Congratulations on completing your first mission. Your options remain the same as earlier.

 

The lieutenant looked Sasha up and down, taking in his scarce possessions and extended hand. Further down the tunnel, a guardsman cleaning his shotgun looked up and chuckled, savouring the entertainment.

The lieutenant shook Sasha's hand, crushing it in a grip that'd put mere vices to shame. To Sasha's credit, he didn't wince.

"I'm Lieutentant Daniil. Captain's asleep. Who the hell do you think you are?"

Not waiting for a answer, he turned to Vlad.
"Looking for mercenary work, are you, ratslayer?" News obviously travelled fast in the Metro. "I might have something for you, but don't come crying to me if you get chewed up. Nosalises don't care what qualifications, you have, they're rip you to shreds all the same."


I think the guards may be slightly less impressed with your martial prowess that you'd have hoped.

 

Lieutentant Daniil looked bemused.

"Glorious military history or whatever, with your gear you're going to get slaughtered if you venture out of the tunnels. Still, I'm short on men at the moment. Have you heard of the Dobryninskaya sub-level?"

Taking their silence as a no, he continued.

"What with you lot from Polyanka eating all our food, the mushroom farmers can't keep up. We need more room for pigs, for growing, and to take some of the stress off everyone - living this close together isn't healthy. Trouble is, it was sealed up a good five years back. There was a tunnel down there leading to a whole nest of snouts. We wiped them out a while after, but there's probably a few left down there. Hopefully your guys and your fancy medals can handle them."

 

The lieutenant sighed. Waited for the group to assemble behind him, he slowly made his way back into the Metro Station. After a confusing series of twists and turns you reach what looks like a dead end. The lieutenant pulls away a plank of wood from a wall, revealing a doorway.

The lieutenant leaves you to your work, and after pulling away the rest of the boards, in the dim light you can see a ladder descending into the gloom.
