Sure, can never have to many filters, though we'll have to come up with a plausible reason for it to still be working. M4$ON, you good with this?

I nodded slightly at his answer before looking back at him, I moved away from the wall and moved back into the class room to see what dolgov was staring at. then Prizrak asked me if I knew what it was. "um....seems like a type of advance microwave, If you compare it to one at least." I answered in a slightly confused tone of my own, I moved over to dolgov and, while keeping my eye on the door, asked.

"what are you thinking buddy?" after asking him I went back to the door of the class room and took cover by it while waiting for dolgov to make a move as an answer, seeing as couldn't talk.

You'll need to look for a diesel generator. Most universities will have generators in or just outside any laboratory building to keep experiments running at steady temperatures in event of power failures. Some come on automatically (in which case it would have long run out by now) but others need to be manually started (and would still contain their own supply of diesel, good to power multiple machines a few hours...or one machine for quite a long time ;)). Autoclaves are also simple and can be built extremely tough, the one at my uni is used twice a week and has been in operation for 45 years.

You might find more diesel by scavenging from vehicles. Think of that Last Light chapter where Artyom finds fuel to power a motor.

Dolgov isn't intelligent enough to open a latch, let alone use a machine.

I ignore the big machine in the room. It's almost unnaturally sterile, polished, and totally odorless. However, a dusty booklet sits on top of it with its title clearly visible.

    'Instruction Manual: Megaclave Model 251'

With it, anyone could operate the autoclave. Through the glass window on its side, a few empty beakers can be seen sitting on a grille, and a small control panel with a digital display for temperature sits idle just beside it. The display is dark since there is no power. Above the machine, a chimney-like shaft leads out of the building. Air would be sucked in and passed out of the building through the autoclave as exhaust gas.

There is no answer from the floor above. An eerie silence returns. Anyone watching the staircase would catch a glimpse of a mutated cockroach the size of Prizrak's palm scrambling down the stairs and running down the hallway. It is too small to threaten anyone and isn't aggressive, but its fleeing from *something*.

    Then another cockroach appears.

    And another.

    Then four.

Soon there is a procession of big insects skittering down the stairs, through the hallway and fleeing out of the exit. I stare at them blankly, even as the light begins to dim to grey and an oppressive gloom permeates the building.

As a side note, the noise and heat coming from an autoclave would be detectable from the outside, possibly indicating our location to other players or enemies.

Right, we'll have to do some scavenging M4$ON/Prizrak.:D

I still tried to imagine what the machine could by used for, sadly my knowledge of tech pretty much extended to 'push button, stuff happens.', I did notice a manual on top of of the machine and grabbed it before opening it and trying to make sense of all the scientific jargon, I sighed after a moment. "prizrak can you make out any of this? I mean, I can read just find but half this I'm having trouble understanding." I said with some frustration, seriously would it kill the intellectuals of the world to put instructions in a more simple manner? Maybe like 'push this and that happens or pull this lever and this will happen.'

But I guess that's wishful thinking on my art. "either way, we need a war to power this." I said after a moment."also you think this thing makes any noise?" I asked, I did not want mutants pouring down on our heads.

I'm just keeping this very simple and not 100% realistic, but enough for a roleplay lol.

The first few pages of the manual contact information for the manufacturer, an introduction, and a warranty notice - totally irrelevant at this point in time. The main body of the instructions describes four main controls - Power (On/Off), Thermostat (keypad to dial in desired temperature), Timer (Off - 2 hours), Airflow (Low-Med-High).

To keep things simple RP-wise, lets just say that

    - In general, the autoclave acts something like a cross between an oven and a pressure cooker.

    - At peak efficiency, it takes 40min to completely renew a used filter, and the machine has enough space for everyone's filters at once, except what we need to breathe with while waiting.

    - The machine shuts itself off automatically when the timer reaches 0, saving electricity. You don't have to be there at the time.

    - There is a diesel generator somewhere very close by that can supply a few hours of power. You could RP searching for it as well as additional diesel scavenged from abandoned vehicles.

    - Other machines in the building will drain electricity and shorten the available operating time of the autoclave if you have not ensured they are all switched off. You'd need to go upstairs to check...and something unpleasant is upstairs. You could try to make up what it might be. You don't have to leave it to me. Or maybe some of the other machines might be useful to you - use your imagination.

    - There is a set of tongs sitting on a nearby table to safely remove hot objects from the autoclave.

    - There are three warnings. One, you must ensure the airflow is constant, otherwise air pressure could build up and scalding hot air will blast into your face when you open it later. Two - ensure there is a little bit of space between each item you put inside, to ensure even airflow. Three, don't be silly and put explosive material inside...(unless that's your plan anyway ;))

Its a fictional setting guys, don't worry if its not 100% accurate. Have fun.

"this is UNDER the university, we are not going to go to the university above though. WE will use a tunnel under the station to get the parts, it makes up 1/4th of the machine but it's in 7 parts, 20 kilos each." I showed them the exact co ordinates. "you all ready?"

I felt the heavy burdain of twenty kilograms over my shoulder when Joe said how heavy the parts would be. It demotivated me even more. Yet, I straightened up and made the weight on my shoulders feel as light as feathers. My mind was debating itself wether to speak out loud the horrifying truth about our first destination or not. We had been there not long ago, yet Odessa and I were the only ones left in the group to know about it if my memory served me right. I came to the conclusion that if I spoke out loud now, the steps towards the destination would be even heavier for the rest of the group as well. For those that would even dare to join us, that is. And so, I decided to let it wait.

"I am ready, let us get going", I said determinedly.
Alright people, it's time we get a move on.
If the Revolutionaries are going up to the University, I suggest we create a secondary thread where M4$0N, Storchburp, Ranger Jack and DrDarcy post separately from us. I think this'd be a little better so we wouldn't have every second post be at different locations. Alek the Revolutionarie and his comrades meet with Matthew Jackson, Prizrak and Dolgov in the secondary thread where they explore the University and search for the blueprints or whatever they were supposed to get.
Meanwhile, the original group will head for the parts of the weapon in this thread. That will be
    Benjamin Soprano(Me)
    Odessa&Jet (Jet Odessa)
    Anton Oborin (GoodLordApollo)
    Gena/Voskresshiy (AaronPoitras)
    Joe (TheStalker)
    Nikolai Vyachteslav Konovalev (DarkBringer)
Sorry if I forgot anyone. So what do everyone think of this suggestion? Good idea?

How about we just cancel this autoclave sidequest and get to the group ASAP? We'll arrange a big mutant swarm or something like that so Jack, Prizrak and Dolgov will evacuate the building ASAP and meet the primary group.
    ===
"There's a good chance that this thing will make a lot of noise," I said as I took the manual from Jack. After studying it for some time, I found out that this device is called an Autoclave, and is used to sterilize equipment, which means that we can recycle our filters using this device. Interesting. But it requires electricity to function, which means that we have to find a way to restore power to the building, or power the device with a generator or something like that. "Great. we can use this thing to recycle our mask filters, if it works, and if we can power it up somehow. Do you think this place has a generator?" I asked. I was running out of filters, and I hoped that we could power up this autoclave.

While my character is going to the University, he's seen the goods that Joe has and along with Voskresshiy, thinks that this is the bigger prize. So later he'll join with the others, currently he's staying with Voskresshiy for their "re-distribution" of the items that Joe has. Which I'm sure all the other characters are all also planning to do but for different motives. So for now, Alek and his comrades are staying until they can get all they can, then they'll to the actual University to find some books. Plus Joe and Alek have a very loose deal that Alek will help Joe find a book. As far as I can tell, for the minute they both trust each other but they know they don't like each other. Sorry if this wasn't made clear enough.

I grab one of the parts. "Remember Joe our agreement. I help you get that book. Then we can work out some sort of just payment." I pass it along to my comrades who along with me equally share the burden. "Now this book. From the sounds of it, it sounds like a new book. So it must be treated. Paper will take a couple of months to rot if in the right conditions. This book I take is valuable. So it would likely be in a high value safe. The safe is likely to have rotted, while remaining its contents secure. Soviet engineering, it may be broken but it still works." I give a hollow laugh. "Which means we'd need explosives to crack open the safe. The homemade grenades would be no help, as they're too unstable. We'd need some sort if military grade explosive, which I gather Joe you could acquire."

Sorry, but how is Alek going to stay with Voskresshiy to re-distribute the items when the group must leave with Joe first, and Voskresshiy is going to come with them? I'm a little confused. How I see it:
The group leaves to get the parts(s) while Alek and his friends leaves to get the book. They all meet up back at Joe's base, and that is when the re-distribution will take place. Correct me if I've gotten something wrong here :)

Sorry for not having understood it all. Now I get it. Thanks for explaining it. Who should make the secondary RP? Perhaps call it 10.5?

Understood. However I want to suggest we post here if the groups get so close that they might detect each other, eg hearing gunshots etc.

I got up and whispered to them all "alright time to go" I opened up the elevator, and told benji "dreadlocks first". Once we where all in the elevator, I then put in the coordinates of the surface. "alright play times over"......

I realized that when we got into Joe's elevator, we were on our way to the surface. We could take the train from here, University, to Park Kul'tury at the Hansa Ring before taking a train from there along the ring to Taganskaya, before taking the tunnels south. "Why are we on our way to the surface, Joe?", I asked simply.

I turned to Benji and replied "we will only be on the surface for a while, we will then take the tunnel I spoke of earlier, to get to the station". I then looked at the group, "the chance of failing this mission is 80%, but I am confident you have gone through worse odds"

Eighty percent chance of failing did not sound good, but Joe was correct; we had been through worse odds. I would say that defeating the Nazis and destroying their Toxin in D6, after breaking into it in the first place, was against all possible odds.
"Alright, I trust you on this", I said insecurely to Joe as I took out the spiked Israeli gas mask out of my backpack and strapped it on my head. I screwed on the spiked filter before taking out the heavy dark brown coat from my backpack and put it on. I put the backpack onto my back, closed the coat and adjusted the mask on my face before I looked upwards in the elevator, awaiting the arrival of the surface.

As we went up to the surface in the elevator, I started putting on my gas mask and made sure all my gear was in the correct position. My beard made the gas mask uncomfortable to wear, but I head got used to it over the years.
As I looked at my comrades I noticed Big Ben had got some weird-looking gas mask, that made me sort of uneasy - was this guy some form of satanist? I didn't want to ask as it might worsen the already fragile impression I had given the group. Instead I cocked my AS Val. "Time to show these guys what I'm made of" I thought to myself as we got closer to the surface.
