Roleplay Part 10

"At least we can defend there properly, and we have to get there soon anyway. I don't think we have many filters left." I said, taking the filter from Jack and switching it with my current one. "Help me get up, Jack. We have to get ourselves to somewhere we can properly defend, and I think our best option's the university building."

 

"Oorah to that buddy." I said Picking him up, When I was sure he wasn't going to face-plant into the ground, I turned toward the revolutionary captain. "captain! we're falling back inside, feel free to join us!" I shouted.

I signal towards Lt Dmitri and Nik, who quickly sprint from their positions while still relaying covering fire. We leap over several dead corpses and quickly reach the door of the entrance to the University. "We need to find something heavy to block the door. Otherwise all the nosalises will get it. Plus I don't want any more of the toxic air to reach us."

 

I take off, shuffling low to the ground to the next building, glancing quickly over my shoulder to check that the nosalises' attention is riveted on the commotion.

Slinking through the doorway, my nostrils are greeted by the leafy smell of vegetable matter. With any luck, the place would not have held anything of interest to mutants and I would not be delayed for too long...I did not have many filters left, but the precious specimens were worth far more than my own life.

Atop a nearby table are a few jars with stoppers. I open and tip them upside down to ensure they are empty before adding them to my collection and slinking away into the darkness.

 

I nodded at the captains suggestion before looking around, I stared at the lockers lining the walls for a moment before saying. "We could tear those lockers away from the walls and pile them in front of the door. God knows they must have rusted enough by now." I suggested, though I did figure if we try to pry the lockers away from the wall it would take quite a bit of effort.

I shifted slightly under Prizraks weight, he wasn't very heavy, but I needed to find a place to set him down. "OK man, I gotta set you down, we're do you want to sit?" I asked while eying entrance door.

 

"Right in front of the door, so I'll be able to cover the entrance in case they get in. Thanks for that filter, by the way, but I had a fresh one so take this," I say, taking a spare filter from my pocket and holding it out to Jack.

 

I nodded while pocketing the filter. I hauled prizrak over to the wall and set him down. I turned around bringing up my AK and setting my sights on the door before asking. "Captain, we could barricade those doors with desks from from the class rooms." I suggested lightly. "The nosalies seemed to have let up on their assault for now." I fell back easily into the training I got from my father, my breathing was slow, my stance was flexible enough for me to turn and run should the worst happen, and my eyes were darting all over the place taking everything into account.

 

No sooner did we reach the surface did the gunfire start echoing across the surface. Normally it would prove wiser to avoid the sound and mind your own business, but alas, it echoed from our very destination. Confrontation would be inevitable.

Joe of course darted off immediately towards the shots like he was being chased by mutants which sadly forced me to follow as he was our only guide. I sighed loudly before giving chase to him and peeled my eyes open for any other unwanted surprises.

 

*I heard gunfire in the distance and guess it was nosies having fun. it'd come from our destination so I prepped my weaapons, ready to fire at a moment's notice. Jet came bounding towards me an meaowed loudly. she might like being on the surface, but sure as hell she didn't like nosies! as we were about to move Joe sprinted towards the nosies direction. weather we liked it or not, we were gonna have to put a few of them down before reaching our objective. getting myself together I followed him, Jet now back in her carrier. this should be fun*

 

I looked back to see the others following me, good, at least i won't be alone. I look around on the surface, the changes surprise me. Water all around from the melted snow, and full of grass. Plants fill the air, along with what seem to be large mutants in the distance. Thankfully the turtles don't seem to care much.

After that I made it pass the university garden and to the actual building, i kick open the door and yell "who needs exterminators?!"

 

I almost fired when the door I had been covering was kicked open man who shouted something about exterminators, I sighed before standing up and seeing more people behind the man. I walked toward him until I was standing in front of him. "you know, its unwise to kick in a door like that. your lively to get shot." I said in a even tone, I wondered briefly if this was the other group I heard about.

 

"Who the hell are you?" I asked, staring at the man with a raised eyebrow. This man must be immortal, because no mortal human's dumb enough to attract attention like that.

 

Above the din of the nosalises, I could hear distant conversation from the group. My ears still ring from the encounter and I struggle to determine if the new arrivals would be hostile to Jack and Prizrak or not. I pause long enough to peep out of a window for a few seconds, hoping I wont be spotted.

 

I'd stopped firing to notice my original group had returned. I looked around in disbelief as Joe kicked the door down. Un-fucking-believable. We were trying to use that to block the nosalises. Never the less, more people meant a better defence. I gestured to Joe and the others. "Hello comrades. Back so soon?" I turn towards Jack and Pizrak. "Don't worry. I know these guys. They're all friendly".

I scan the horizon, and the waves of nosalises had not yet stopped. "Thank you all for coming. Looks like we'll have to enter the university and hold off from the inside. There might be a filter which could clear the air but before the, we'd have to hold off the nosalises before we can turn on the generator." I reload my SKS, and mount my bayonet on it. Close Quarters was to be expected.

 

I Glanced at the captain before turning back to the group. "Alright then, now that's settled." I turned and walked back toward the area were the basement entrance was. "Now that we have more people here, I'm going to go see if that generator I found can be salvaged." I paused and turned towards prizrak. "watch your self bro." I said before continuing.

 

It didn't take long for us to reach the source of the gunfire. It seems a small group was hold up in a small room defending from a mutant horde. Joe being the usual badass he is kicks through the door first thing to save the day, or die and ruin their only cover, I'm not sure which one, nor did I care *-_-*.

I let the group enter the room and say their hello's and figure out a possible plan while I sat outside the door and kept an aggressive watch. the mutants for the most part had fallen back feeling out matched by our numbers and strength, but still they pushed in other ways. A horde would rise up now and then only to be shot down or wounded by our steady fire.

Two mags down and the group was still talking. "Hurry it up!" I shouted in urgency. Soon after that the matter seemed to have moved on and we finally started to move deeper into the University. I slowed my fire as I merged into the building, blocking the door once again with the same debris used before and a few quickly found new pieces to really jam it up. "Should hold for a few minutes" I proclaimed to myself.

 

A soon as we got to the surface, gunfire was heard. I tensed up a bit, and felt a slight rush of adrenaline ooze through my body. Joe ran towards the sound, and while I at first questioned his decision, I decided to follow along with the others. Running was not a pleasant thing to do when wearing a gas mask, and the lenses were soon so foggy it was almost impossible to see. I tripped over a root, and only just regained balance in time to avoid smacking my head into a car-wreck. I quickly continued running and hope none of the others had seen the embarassing act.

When we got to our destination, Joe chose the entrance method of kicking in the door by himself before rushing in. While I could think of a couple of less dangerous methods, he got the job done and survived. Behind the door stood Alek with a few more guys. I simply saluted Alek with my index and middle finger before assisting Gena with covering the door.
