Roleplay Part 4

I sat back in the cart, my kalash at the ready, though it would probably just make matters worse if we did open fire. The silence was filled with electrical crackling sounds, and the smell of smoke was growing slowly.

 

I grabbed the pipe, not taking my eyes off the anomaly. I threw the pipe softly but with good distance, in the right direction. The anomaly almost imedieatly began to hover away towards it probing it's surroundings with small bolts of light. I water until it was about 12 meters away then turned back to Andrey "ok let's get otta here before it comes back"

 

I watched what transpired carefully, keeping my eyes slightly covered from the light. It stung my eyes, and caused my natural night vision condition to fade again. Dammit, it hurts.

 

The lights of the next station were still far in the distance, mere glimpses of stars in the darkness. But I felt the space closing, and depression clouded my mind again. Would I live to see another day? Would Wolf have mercy on my wretched soul? The next few hours would tell.

 

Maybe getting on that cart hadn't been sucha great idea.Those guys were throwing me in the heart of the Metro,where the most dangerous and unknow beings dwell.
"Can we relax now?" i asked.

 

"You can. But you should not. A very wise DEAD man once told me to take a nap. I refused. Now he is dead, and I am alive." I said in a slightly harsh way, not even looking at him, still scouting ahead.

 

"I would not concider taking a nap as wisdom, but rather knowing when there is a good opportunity to do so. That would be wisdom in this case" I said, attempting to focus our minds on anything else than the electricic being that most likely was following us through the tunnel.

 

The others were talking about naps, of all things. I never felt like sleeping less. Who knew, maybe I'd be in eternal rest before the day was through. I shifted into a slightly less uncomfortable position, and closed my eyes. Often we hear things which would pass by unnoticed if we close our eyes. Something with focusing the senses or something, who really cared, it worked and that was good enough for me.

In what I had considered silence I now heard the rattle of our cart's wheels, the creaking sound of the metro walls, a deep roar which lay in the background, the dripping of water from some old pipe. And...

Suddenly a scream pierced the air. I opened my eyes. "What was that?" I asked, looking at the others.

 

I was sitting at the side of the cart with my arm resting on the side of it as I spectated the tunnels of concreed passing by endlessly when Steven suddenly broke the silence, asking "What was that?". I turned my head and looked at him. I just stared at him with a face that expressed nothing. No confusion, no remorse, no victory nor defeat. No happiness nor sadness. No thoughts, no wonders. "And what may 'That' be, if I may ask, Steven?" I asked, putting pressure on the word 'That'.

 

I was drinking from canteen in silence when Steven asked "what was that?". I turned to him "what was what?"

 

"Hey guys can we leave this station,if they find me here,it will be a big trouble!"
I began to sweat,as plenty of patrols walked past us,apparently ignoring me.
I thought:-"I could hide in some Trade-Tent!"
"Hey guys i am gonna sell some of my stuff,anybody coming to the market?"

 

The others looked at me as if I was crazy, and someone began talking about trading. A feeling of uncertainty washed over me, but I fought it back. "You guys didn't hear anything? Well, just be on your guard, I hope it's nothing..." I said, looking at the others seriously.

I was going to mock Steven for being crazy but he could surely use a break form all that, seeing as how this was an unbelievably stressing time for him being "held prisoner", brain washed and riding closer to his judgement with every passing second. So instead I sat down and put my rifle on my lap, taking the safety off to Slightly ease his pain.

 

It is Rolf...yeah i have a lot of imagination....

Oh really? i thought we were in some station of the Reds!

 

There were no screams, no sounds. I closed my eyes again, straining to hear. Dripping water, creaking metal, rattling wheels, nothing else. Opening my eyes, I relaxed. Okay, whatever, if something happens so be it.

 

The tunnel went silent as we approached Polyanka station. I'd been here years ago when Polis was attempting to inhabit the station, but only passing through I hadn't the time to really know the place. Seeing the station now gave me a chill, how could such a mighty force as Polis be so easily defeated by the station itself. Looking around one saw only piles of trash and fallen tents as well as the occasional rifle carelessly abandoned. But our time in the station was short as we moved through quickly without stopping. I lit a cigarette and watched as Polyanka disappeared into darkness once more. "not much further till Paveletskaya now, should be smooth sailing till then" I muttered.

 

That brought a smile to my face. Smooth sailing indeed. A noose around the neck wasn't exactly my idea of smooth sailing. I felt calm, yet a panic was building deep inside me. I supposed it was shock and terror. But I pushed them down. I deserved whatever fate I got, even if it was shoveling sh*t for the rest of my life. There were worse things than death, worse things than punishment. Like being a Nazi. That was hell itself, once you realized how evil you really were...
