Seemed like the blink of an eye I went from on my back to against the wall. I remove the gas mask as not to waste filter time. I study the man pinning me like a caged animal.

    "Yuri!" I cried softly.

Fast paced thumping can from within the airshafts. Within what felt again like the blink of an eye a small, buttoned up boy appeared near the fire. In his hands the ancient rifle. He came over to me, wrapping his hand around mine. In a sad attempt to put himself between me and my interrogator. I look down to Yuri and smirk. I look back up to my interrogator.

    "He did." I replied.

There was a sudden metallic noise outside the door before a person stumbled into the room and landed on his back. As always, there was someone in the group who immediately took action. This time, it was Wojcie first, who of course was followed by Darkbringer. He lifted the person up and forced him against the wall with a strategic grip. As the man was held under control, I decided not to move an inch from my sitting spot. I was not really surprised to see him. There were stalkers just about everywhere in the Metro, even here in the outskirts. But when I saw the person's face, I was actually surprised.

What I saw was a lone, rough teenager who seemed quite inspired by the poor scavenging type of stalker. With my orange-like eyes, I scanned his whole appearance before I looked into his grey-blue eyes. Why was he here? Had he just descended from the surface? Was he all alone out here? I kept my questions for later, and waited for him to answer Darkbringer.

EDIT: I began writing on this post before you posted yours, Lurkerhater, so that's why mine just seems quite slow-realizing. Just pretend that this post of mine happened before yours :)

*everything happened, as per ususal in the metro, in the blink of an eye. we were about to set off when Jet jumped up and hissed, and Dark's friend was holding someone against the wall, and to top it all, a small kid was standing between both of them. I rolled my eyes and shook my head*

'right, who says life in the metro can be dull?' I said approaching the strangers, Sig on my hand, safety off.

*Jet had calmed down and, to my surprise, had approached the small kid, he couldn't be more that five, and the other one, a teenager at that, although he certainly looked older than his years and you could see the horrors he had seen in his young eyes, certainly not 'green' anymore. I could also see that Jet was rubbing herself against Yuri's leg. that seemed to be the kid's name. as for the teenager, his name was still unknown*

'well, it seems Jet likes you both, and that can't be bad. however, would you care to explain how you came to be here, and where are you going? as for you, scientist, you can come with us, for now, if the guys agree, but one wrong move and I will not heasitate to shoot you myself, understood?' I said to the scientist without turning to look at him, all my attention centred on the newcomers.

When the stalker said that his little brother had sent him, I assumed he was bullshitting me. He must have had some cahonies to talk shit to a guy with a full armed group of friends. But then, I thought about it. Maybe his little brother hadn't sent him, but he was simply forced to go to the surface to get food on the table for them both.
Sako was apparently untouched by all of this and didn't feel threatened at all. Together with Jet these four-legged friend would save our lives many times, with their sharp senses.
I turned my attention back to the stranger and removed his weapons, handing them over to Benjamin.

To my next surprise, a little boy appareantly named Yuri, came crawling out from the ventilation system and ran over to hold the teenager's hand. Without anyone noticing, I gave the little boy a minor smile and a short nod, as of a kind of reassurance. He probably was too young to understand my meaning of it, though.

Darkbringer disarmed the boy and handed me his weaponary. A quite unusual rifle that I could not remember ever seeing, and some other equippment. I recieved it carefully, and kept it on the ground, up against the wall beside me.

Just as I had thanked Melkov and grabbed the extra ammunition, a boy, not much younger than me appeared out of thin air and landed in front of us. and now a smaller child appeared at his side.
"This has to be the W-worst stealth mission ever" I laughed. "If it C-continues like this, our group W-will be the size of a small station B-before we even reach our destination."
I turned to our Daredevil and said "As for M-mr Egghead here, he can join if he promises to act m-more cautious. N-no M-m-more grenade tos-s-sing."
I wasn't all to happy about him joining, but he might work as an efficient meat shield if nothing else, and he had knowledge of my home station which I in good time would get out of him.

Looking at the newcomers, I couldn't really see how the could be a threat to us so I decided to let the others deal with them and sat down by the campfire and started cleaning my old rifle.

Sorry for taking so long. Were clearly from different time zones.

Eyes scan the room of people by the flickering fire. I look down at Yuri, who is staring at the cat rubbing up against his leg. He lifts his head up towards me, pearly white teeth stretch from ear to ear. Thats the first I've seen him smile in a long time. But before I can savor the moment I snap back to the reality of my current stitutation.

"Sorry to crash the party." I joke in a pitful attempt to break the tension collecting in the room.

"You shouldn't make your fire so big. Smoke is a trail. In this case one that reached the surface. What were doing here..." I stop midstence and look towards the female. "I could ask you the same thing. Saveloyskaya is the last livable station in this section of the Metro. Nothing ahead but abandoned and unexplored ruins. Nothing behind but Hansa. But to answer your question, the smoke. Smoke means flames, flames mean destruction, destruction means death, death means rounds, filters, equipment and .." I pause in my explanation and look over to Yuri. "Food." I turn my head back towards the female and continue. "As for where we're headed. Does it really matter? Everything is the same in this shit hole. Reason why we stay up there."

Yuri punchs my arm when the curse word leaves my tongue. "I'm sorry. I forgot." I respond, rubbing the impact spot a bit.

I refocus on my interrogater. "Mind putting me down?" I ask. "This isn't a great way to greet a guest."

I had put 3 of the hand grenades into the top of the gun bag when there was a crashing and clamor behind me. When I turned around, the big guy and Dark had a teenager pinned up against the wall at gun point. I watched as Benjamin and Odessa converged on him, and then shook my head and slung the gun bag over my shoulder, ready to head out if trouble started. It had certainly lost some weight since I dolled out the ammunition.
I pulled out my pistol, then paused and watched as a boy came running and latched onto what I presumed was his brother. I shivered at the thought of almost having shot him, a kid no more than 10. That could have ended badly, I thought to myself.
Everybody seemed to be not too tense, since they were just kids. Then, I stiffened as I heard him say that the smoke had been reaching up to the surface. "Oh, shit. We need to clear out of here, comrades. If they could follow the smoke down here, so could others."

"Relax." I blurt out to the semi-panicing man.

"There's no one up there for miles. Very few people know how to maneuver through the debris above this part of the Metro. Besides, you should be more concerned about how you're trapped in a dead end. As I said before, back down those tunnels theres nothing but Hansa. I suppose you all know their reputation for warm welcomes, especially towards outsiders." I add, then I think back to my last sentence and a realization comes to me. I open my mouth to speak, yet the words hesitate on my tongue, so I press my lips back together. After a few moments of thought I look towards the group of heavily armored stranger. My mouth pops open again, this time words come out.

"You're stalkers, right? I mean real stalkers. For the Metro! And all that other patriotic bullshit, right? I heard stalkers and Hansa are for the most part allies. If thats the case, then I think we can help each other out. I mentioned before that Hansa doesn't act kindly to outsiders. They kind of see people like me as tunnel trash and as mush as I despise them, the ring line is, however, a major part of trading in the Metro. Because of my affilations, I can't seem to find a legal way into any Hansa stations, but you guys are different. They like you. Maybe we can cut a deal. I need to get into Mendeleevskaya for business, its the nearest Hansa station, just past Savelovskaya. And you .." I casually point a finger over to the man sitting next to my equipment (Benjamin). "You need to cross the surface. Yes, before you ask, I may have overheard you while in the vent. Never the less, the ruins above are very dangerous, especially in that quadrant of Moscow. You will need a guide if any of you wish to make it through the rest of that quadrant alive. Luckily for you I've basically spent my entire childhood and the last year up there on the surface. I doubt anybody knows the dead city better than me. You get me into Mendeleevskaya so I can settle my business and in return I'll help you get to your destination. Where were you going again? Tverskaya?" I ask to conclude the case I've built around my importance.

Again, I refocus on the my interrogator who has yet to drop me. "Well." I search the group's faces for an answer. "What will it be?"

I couldn't feel my right leg - it was as if that part of my body was completely disconnected from the nervous system... then I started getting worried. Hesitantly, I looked down at my limbs. The whole lower part of my right leg (from the knee down) was gone, with a pool of blood underneath it. Bits of shrapnel of varying sizes were stuck in different sections of my body; one burned straight through the gas mask, deep through the skin on my forehead. My left arm was crushed underneath the rubble. I felt an unbearable ringing in my ears, pain all over my body and a horrible headache was clouding my thoughts. I screamed in agony, calling for help.

I shouted and called out for what felt like hours (though there was no real way of telling how much time had actually passed)... no answer. No one could hear me, but I still kept screaming at the top of my voice. The pain and disbelief of what had happened in a matter of seconds overwhelmed me. For the first time in a long while (and the last time in my life), I felt terrified. Fear and suffering won over reason. As I kept shouting, the air in my filters was being used up at a faster rate. Blood started to cloud my vision, as the red fluid oozing from numerous impact wounds at the back & top of my head had made its way down to the visor.

Finally realizing that no one would have looked around on the surface for a dead man for such a long period of time, I stopped calling for help - and just as I did, I heard someone moving bits and pieces of the rubble. Something had heard me, but what was it human? "Benji? ...Vlad? ...Odessa? ...Dark?" I started saying the names of each and every squad member I could remember, from my oldest companion right down to the newest arrivals. No response came. I decided it was best to feign death, as I did not have strength for much more than that anyway. I let out a grunt and then closed my eyes, just as the humpbacked creature made its way through the rocks.

I heard disturbing sounds and then felt more pain added to the stump that was left of my leg. At once, I opened my eyes. What I saw shocked me even in my current condition. The creature was a deformed man, sticking his fingers in my wound - ripping out bits of flesh, smelling them with delight and then greedily filling his mouth with them. The pain was unbearable, but I forced myself to endure, clenching my teeth. As the abomination feasted on the remains of my limb, I reached for my Tokarev with the only fully functional part of my body - my right arm. I aimed the barrel of the gun at the distracted cannibal's forehead and then pulled the trigger eight times, emptying the whole magazine into his skull. I watched as with each blast fragments of his brain shot out through the back of his head, leaving bright red stains behind the human beast.

I started screaming in pain again. I could not bear it any longer. I wanted the suffering to end, but my body kept functioning; holding onto the last, waning shreds of life I had left in me, as if there was any hope of survival. I took solace in the fact that I was going to suffocate before dying from my injuries or blood loss, since there was no way to change the filters using only one hand. Thus I took my mask off, barely managing to rip it off my face using my right hand. "If I am to die here, then I will die honourably! No suicide. No surrender.” I mumbled to myself, throwing the pistol away.

Immediately, the cold air of the surface filled my lungs with radioactive dust. I started coughing uncontrollably. Dying by suffocation turned out to be a much more painful experience than I could have ever imagined. After a few seconds, my nose began to bleed. "KAAA-LIIIN-KAAA, KAA-LIIN-KAA, KA-LIN-KA MOYA!" I sang with my dying breath, passing from the miserable existence of this ruined planet.

as I walked inside the room two young boy dropped in. Man what a day. As the group talked with the two youngsters I didn't say much. I could be a quiet guy sometimes. Finally I I knelt down and asked the two fellas "what's ur guys s names?"

We delved deeper and deeper into the ruin of Moscow dodging still cars and swamped buses as we made our way to the tower. Behind us the SS rangers broke off and headed towards the sounds of a hefty gunfight that began to echo aloud. "In here!" Spring shouted. Immediately we pivoted to our left and kicked through a rotted wooden door with our steel toes. Upon entering the building we found our way up the stairs and up a small ladder until we finally reached the tippy top of the tower. Spring cleared away some rubble off a window sill and said to me "Set up the rifle there and get zeroed in, I'll try and spot them."

Nodding I unslung the rifle from my back and placed it's bipod on the sill. Gently but forcibly pushing a magizine into it's bottom and slowly racked the bolt. "Ready" I said.

Three minutes of motionless waiting went by before Spring sprung up with satisfaction. "There they are! Middle of the street dead ahead... 250 meters" he said anxiously. Aimin through the scope I quickly acquired them, paceing through the street without a care. This was my first glimpse of the group I had been able sent to kill. Some where short, some where tall... Some where really tall. They all appeared to be men say for the on in front. They where definitely packing some heavy shit that's for sure. "There's our boys, down the cross road in the blown out building" Spring pointed out.

"Wait, they're opening a manhole. Hurry take the shot! Its now or never" he yelled.

This was it. I hadn't thought about it till now but it was at that moment that I hesitated on pulling the trigger. Was I really going to end there lives to save the ones I loved?

No. I couldn't. She'd have my head if I did. There had to be another way. I'd just have to get rid of 'Spring' first to give me some breathing room then meet up with 'Glock' a figure out the rest of my plan.

I watched as the tallest man struggled to open the manhole and guide the lady in. "Firing" I put my finger on the trigger and pretended to pull it. "Misfire!" I shouted racking in another shell very slowly. By now almost the whole group had made I down the ladder say for two. Once again I pretended to fire "Misfire! The whole damned guns jammed!"

"Screw the sniper, I'm signaling the SS!" Spring yelled with a vengeance. He pulled out a walkie talkie from his pocket and radioed our men on the ground "Do it! Quick! And keep him alive I want some answers!". And not even a second later our men could be seen sprinting out the door and capturing the last two men. Karl held one man at gunpoint and talked for a moment before shooting him in the leg. Then without warning the man stood back up threw a right cross at Karl's face, an explosion resulted on impact.

My eyes widened in shock. When the smoke cleared not a single man was left standing. I could see Karl rolling in agony on the red snow as a man crawled up from the sunken manhole. He knelt down beside Karl and slowly cut his throat. My emotions turned from shocked to extreme anger. Karl wasn't exactly close to me and he was a loyal Schutzstaffel member but for some reason seeing him die like that really made me twitch.

"Damn it!... Damn it damn it damn it!!, they got away! How could you let them them get away! You've failed!... When we get back to the metro that bitch is as good as dead! And that little brat's going with her!" Spring yelled in rage. He was definitely mad. But not even close to how pissed I was.

I stood up from my kneeling position with the very fires of hell glowing from my eyes. No words came to my mouth as I glared at him, fists clenched. 'Spring' saw the anger dripping from my body. He stepped back a little. he gripped his pistol "Don't make my put you down, Russian dog!". His last words snapped what little reason I had left in me, And I fucking lost it!

I lunged at him from across the room. He drew his pistol and fired one shot. I felt a small thud in my gut and ignored it. Gripping him with both hands I used every ounce of strength in my body and lifted him from the ground and force us both out the tower window. We rocketed towards the ground in a screaming heap. Him screaming in fear, me in anger. I didn't even care if I survived the fall either way I was going to rip his head off. Hitting the ground I blacked out for a second or two before regaining consciousness. The wind was knocked out of me and my head was spinning. Spring lay in a mangled heap on the rubble twitching as foam bubbled over his lips. The idiot broke his back on the rubble and lost his mask. Nevertheless my rage still seethed unhindered. I got up as quick as I could and started kicking his face in with the heel of my boot "You stupid!... Fucking!... Piece of!... Shit!!... DIE!!!"

Minutes passed before my anger calmed enough for me to stop. I caught my breath for a moment then leant down beside Spring, ignoring mush that was his head. I searched his jacket for anything useful until my fingers grabbed an envelope. Bingo. At least this Petukh Prisoski was good for something. I reentered the building we had so swiftly exited and grabbed my gear before moving out. I quickly ran over and observed the manhole for sometime. Some men emerged momentarily to try and find there friends alive, but to na avail. Soon it went silent. I gathered my wits and entered the manhole. It had been a good hour or so. I followed my nose, the smell of a fire cooked meal filled my lungs. It didn't take Long for me to find the source of the delicious smell. Hidden away behind a locked door lay the remnants of the group. I peaked at them through a crack for a single moment just to be sure it was them.

After confirming this I left the way I came in and returned to the station we had exited from. It was silent and abandoned. I didn't mind. It gave me the peace and quiet I needed to think of a plan. I'd check on the group tomorrow.

"Ha, there he goes" I thought as the teenage stalker told me it was a bad way to greet a stranger. He had obviously never tried being chased by nazis whose biggest joy would be torturing you to death. Since he had been disarmed, I let go of the stranger, then turned him around and looked him in the eyes. "Let me explain my little welcome: We are being chased by nazis, in fact I lost my best friend to them just yesterday. We are the most wanted group in the whole metro, probably with a 500 bullet prize for each of our heads. So I'm very sorry that I didn't just shake your hand and let you have a seat by the fireplace." I said in a normal tone, yet obviously letting know that I was sarcastic.
"Anyway, my name is Darkbringer. I hope you understand my rough first-impression." I said, trying to bury the hatchet.

Man, your roleplay is too damn awesome and unpredictable! Great work, Aaron! :D
I could see the potential in the boy. He was rough. A bit too rough. That seemed to be his way of acting with life in the Metro. The only way he could keep his younger bfriend fed. "Two thousand bullets per head, if not even more", I corrected Darkbringer. "Do you really wish to put your and your friend's lives in danger, just so you can do some business with the Hansa? Do you want to join this group which is greatly doomed as it is haunted by one of the most powerful groups in the whole Metro?", I asked him. I knew that he was not aware about this from before, but now he was.

Oh, and very dramatic and well detailed last roleplay you did there, Bamul! Did Volk sing "My Kalinka"? o_O

The man releases me. Introducing himself as "Darkbringer". I walk over net to the man hoarding my equipment. Quickly I gear myself up, swinging the ancient rifle over my shoulder, sliding the hatchet into its strap and by holstering my revolver. In silence I walk over to Yuri, turn him around and open his bag. I shift through the scrap metal, toys, and pre holocaust equipment until I find the loaf of bread. I rip it in half, giving the much larger piece to Yuri I close his bag. Then, and only after I feed my brother do I turn to the strangers.

I cough a few times, clearly my throat before I speak. "My loyalty is not to the Metro, its to the surface. I couldn't give a shit if this place was overrun with the nosalises. The Metro hasn't done shit for me or Yuri. The Reds, Hansa, the facists, even Polis with their sterling gates and hundred strong stalkers. They didn't give a shit when snorts and lurkers overran Turgenevskaya, killing my mother. They didn't give a shit when my father disappeared into the tunnels years before that. They didn't give a shit about an twelve year old having to take care of his baby brother by himself!" I motion quickly to Yuri, who is snacking on a piece of bread.

"You're hated by the Metro. I hate the Metro. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, da?" I ask towards the man questioning my reasoning (Benjamin). "By the way, I'm Fyodor." I say this as Yuri climbs up onto my back. "And I you met Yuri." I chuckle a small bit. Yuri just waves his shy hand to the group.

*I stayed silent while Dark and Fyodor, the new comer, talked. yes, Benji was right, at least 2000 bullets per head. I wandered if they put a price on Jet's head as well, or would it be her tail?*

'right Fyodor, that's your name right? I'm Odessa, and you already know Jet, my cat. Yuri also seems to like her, good. well, as Benji and Dark were saying, we are wanted by the Nazis, big time. in relation to Hanza, I am well conected to them, since I'm a muttie hunter, and been doing jobs for them for quite a while, here and up on the surface. we are not going back up there, but getting the hell out of here towards Tsvetnoi Bulvar, where I have unfinished business with and old 'buddy' of mine, who, by the way, is the one who's put a price on our heads' I lit up another smoke and kept on talking

'if you wanted a free pass to Hanza, well, it's gonna be a bit befoe we reach them again. I can see you are no 'green' and can certainly look after yourself and your brother. if the guys allow you both to join us, you could be useful to us. I will regrett this one day' I added rolling my eyes

'but is up to you whether you wanna join one of the most dangerous missions there are right now. as I said, it all depend whether the guys let you join us or not. at least you know what 'stealth' is' I finished giving Joe, the scientist, a side glance.

'and please, can we get the hell out of this place, before everyone else and their mother join us?'

*I got all my gear together and got ready to go, but not before dividing the grenades between the guys. Jet meaowed and purred at Yuri once more, rubbed herself against Sako, the dog, and jumped on my shoulder, ready to depart. I looked at everyone and a half smile formed on my lips. what a bunch we were, a scary guy built like a tank; a very tall guy with a very scary mask; a teenager with a kid brother; a mad scientist who loved to toss grenades to anything that moved; a cat, a dog and the rest of us a bunch of misfits, all thrown together in this forsaken metro of ours. what next? mother theresa floating down from nowhere with an RPG on her hands???? I shook my head and headed for the sealed door*
