Polina took some bullets and finally did what I had been planning all along to possibly do; she walked over to the bar counter and bought a bottle of alcoholic beverage before she returned with it, back at our table. She poured the liquid into our two cups that I had brought earlier, and surprisingly, it was wine. "To my father", she said wavingly as she raised her glass. I looked out at the view for a couple of seconds while thinking, before I looked back at her. "To my friend", I responded passionately as I slightly lifted the cup into the air, tilting it a little.

I laid the plastic edge against my lips and tilted the cup, letting the liquid flow into my mouth. The drink tasted of alcohol and grapes that were many years old. The wine we had made and drank in the Sanctuary was far from comparable with this drink, but none the less, this wine was alright and did its job..
I decided to break the silence and drive our thoughts over on other things. "So, tell me, Polina.. Do you really enjoy the taste of this liquor?", I asked. I found it strange that a child like her would like wine.

"i'll bet that you don't even had any bullet,.." he laughed, " so anyone want to raising, huh ?". after a few second the guard was just raising the pot, the room were silent, no noise and voice. It appear everybody were too afraid to raising, either it come from the lack of bullet or just purely afraid. completely silent, even the sound of pounding water was heared from here. afraid or not, this just a game of change, no more. "so no one ?, okay then i will rai..". " all in !" i said white slightly shout voice, breaking the silent. " allright now, open the card." somebody had let their card face-up, while the other are folding it. "hei viktor, are you sure? you look so optimist about your luck." " i know...i just feeling more excited of this pre-blast game " viktor? who is viktor ? i look at my uniform then i was realize that it just my 'name' in city guard now of course, only for now..
" okay we will see your lucky now and don't even try to take what you spent, there is no refund.." "i know i know, lets just do it, as the guard open the card , the fortune, once again, smile on me. that is a flush hand . am i win, right? so where's my bullet, heh? "here take all" the guard giving me 3 cartridge full of MGR. "only three?" i sad with disappointed sound, " where are the other ?" i asked "it's hollow-point one, and more valueable than the usual MGR.." " i see now" i replied, " you see and now, Mr Lucky . are you want to try again your luck?" he asked to me with a more gentle voice. " i guess , No. i dont think fortune will came to someone twice." suddenly the loud speaker become soundly and it's mentioned my 'name'. " to lieutenant viktor medleyev repeat to lieutenant viktor medleyev(correct if my spelling is wrong), please make yourself in to the lobby, captain movskin was waiting for you.. "

    thanks for your explain, Bamul;)

Anton wanted to go. I didn't see a problem so I began walking. I remarked " It was really hard to track my sister down. Given that I only visited the metro last year It was even harder to track her do-" I paused, realizing that my friend Anton didn't know of my past and how I only began exploring the metro for the last year. And how I was in my lab 18 years prior.

It was good to put a name to the face. He said he was looking for adventure and showed me his tattoos. I nod and give him a brief smile.

''Well, Nikolai, you will find plenty of adventure with that group, that's for sure.'' I reply, stroking two fingers along the two parallel valleys that run down my right cheek, carved from missing chunks of flesh.

    With each passing hour, more and more people pile into the three passenger cabins. By the time we reached Kievskaya, there must have been a couple of hundred jammed together in the three passenger cabins. It was morning when we climbed off, the trip took much longer than I perceived. It would have been faster on the bike, but the lack of space on the motorized metal made that impossible. So we took the train, and that pushed us behind schedule. It was around nine in the morning when we reached the west gate of Polis. Polis security officers stopped us, asking for identification papers, but we did not have any. I told them I was one of the 'rangers' from the D-6 fiasco and they did not believe me, even going so far as to laugh in my face. They called me foolish for thinking that I, a teenager, could compare to those heroes. I did not like being disrespected. I have not slept in three days. I am grimy from head to toe. I am swollen, bruised, and blood stained. I participated in the assassination of Reich Officer Glock. I mimicked a Nazi to help infiltrate D-6. I have helped save the lives of many in the Metro. But apparently in their eyes, I am no hero. I did not like being disrespected. Fingers wrap around the revolver and, with a slight tug, I reveal the handle from behind my harness buckle. Ever fiber of being cried out to me, begging me to make that guard swallow the barrel of my revolver and dare him to say it again. Ever fiber hungry for him to look me in the eyes and tell me that all of the shit I've been through in the last few days was nothing. I do not know why but my better side came out at moment. I tuck the handle back into its concealed location. Instead of killing this no good piece of tunnel trash for criticizing me and everything I've done in the last few days, I remove a piece of paper from a notepad in one of my many pockets. I carefully draw Odessa's mark on it and, walking up to the guard, forcefully shove the note to his chest, saying with a stern voice;

    ''Go ask Odessa herself.''

He stumbles a bit, the other security officials raise their rifles. I stare the man down. His grips a hold of the paper and scoffs slightly. Not long after, he disappears through the gate and beyond sight, into the cover of Polis' walls. Dickhead.

This is still the evening of the first day for Melkov. I'm gonna try to plow through the whole rest of the day so that it will be day 2 in his time, so this might get fairly long.

This is part 1 of 2, i'll do the 2nd in the morning.

Vika stopped at an alleyway and looked both ways down the hall we had traveled before waving me down it. We had walked for another 20 minutes before we reached this destination; it had been odd following around someone who had just shot me, but I knew that I had had it coming. As we reached the doorway at the end, and she set about unlocking it, I lowered the rag that I was holding to my cheek to staunch the blood flow to ask "What happened to the old place?"

"Got burned down in a raid by the guards. 'Bout a year after you left. Most everybody got out, though we're lucky it didn't burn the whole station to the ground. Thankfully. It set us back a bit, but we did not let it stop our growth." She seemed to have relaxed somewhat since her spurt of violence, as she closed the door behind us, slammed the locks back into place, and lit a lantern that was sitting on a desk by the door.

My eyes fell on the rack of AK 47s that sat next to the desk, before I looked around the rest of the room. It was a dining room and kitchen combo, from the look of it, with a table down the middle and cabinets and gas cooking ranges along the back wall. There were 4 doors, 2 along each wall. Listening as Vika moved around, I could make out a muffled thump from behind the first door on the left.

"Nobody else here right now?" I asked, walking in further and setting my bag on the table. "Yep. 'Cept for them." She pointed to the door, which had a black S carved into it." All the members 're out on an op' right now. And those who aren't are not staying here." I noticed a slight wince in her expression at that fact, but I put it out of mind for the moment.

"How many members now?" I asked, setting my new clothes down and turning back to face her. Vika thought for a moment before replying "26. I believe. We even got 1 of the Polis council members." I whistled and raised an eyebrow; that was the largest chapter I had heard of, and to actually have a councilman on our side would be ... "Melkov?"

    "Yah?"

"I'm sorry about ealier. That was...rash, on my part. And I'm sorry about your sister, too. She was a...good friend. From what you told me, it was not your fault. So please, don't be blaming yourself." She sighed, then dragged in a breathe before continuing "There's a bathroom with running water down there." Vika waved towards the second door on the left. "Go ahead and get cleaned up while I get some food going."

Still ever silently we marched our way down the platform and into the tunnel as to avoid the mess and eventual stench of our traitorous flesh. At around the fiftieth meter a stream of blood from the tunnel ahead started to line the soles of our boots, it was a touch that only added to our misery, and the breaking point for others. Quiet whimpers and tears could be heard from both ahead and behind as we still march forwar- "Stop!" an officer shouted.

Doing so the whole column of prisoners and guards came to an immediate stop. For a moment I wondered why we had stopped but then realized it. The walls all around us lay strewn with the still bodies of the dead. They seemed blended in with the floor, almost a part of the tunnel itself, so still and quiet...

"Everyone against the wall!, Now!" shouted the officer while drawing his pistol. It seemed the choice wasn't really up to us as the guards basically dragged us against the blood soaked walls with brute force. Then the officer began to walk passed each man slowly, looking them deep in the eyes. "You,... You,... You and you" the officer said to what seemed like random men in the line, me included...

As he pointed us out guards would come along and pull us from the line, only to put us facing against the opposite wall on our knees until there was about 7 of us. He turned around to deal with the remaining men in the line. "Солдаты!, готовы, цель,... огонь!"

The shots rang out behind me. I could not see them since I was facing the other wall but I knew exactly what happened. Seconds later the officer could be heard finishing them of with a shot to the head from his Makarov, I drooped my head and closed my eyes, clutching my ears with my hands. I didn't want to see or hear anymore of it.

After a few seconds of silence the death began to continue as the officer returned to us. This time it seemed the officer was doing all the work, shooting each man in the back of the head.
A shot would ring out followed by a thump, another shot, another thump...

The shots were getting closer and closer. With each gun shot it felt more real, this wasn't a dream, This wasn't just some far away thing. This was it. And although I had known it for quite some time it still managed to hit me at the last second.

I closed my eyes even tighter and Prepared to leave this life behind.

    "Goodbye my lov-

    ....

I walked down to the door, having picked up my clothes off the table, and stepped inside. It was small, though a lot better than anything I had had in the past few weeks. There was a small shower in the corner, a non flush toilet, and a sink with a mirror above it. Stripping off my clothes, which were still caked in the dust, ash, and chemicals of D6, I cranked on the water and stepped inside the shower stall. It was freezing cold, but it felt good to let it run over my tired body and wash away the grime.

After spending some time in the stream of the shower, I flipped it off and used a towel that was sitting under the sink to dry myself off. Slipping into my new clothes, I glanced in the mirror, making sure there were no left over splotches of ash, before walking back out. Vika had made quite a spread - there were heaps of mushrooms, a few cooked sausages, a bottle of wine, and a few pieces of black bread.

As we sat and ate, I filled her in on what had happened over the past few weeks, starting when I left P. Mira in search of Lara and ending with the recent arrival in Polis on the "victory" train. It was rather cathartic, to be able to tell what had happened to somebody that, recent history aside, I trusted. At the end, she simply said "Well. Thats quite a tale."

Finishing the last of her glass of wine, she stood up and stretched before saying "Come on Melkov. Sounds like you've been on your feet for a few days. Its been a bit of a long day for me, too. So, before we plan our next moves I'd suggest that we get a night of sleep under our belts." As I stood up from the table and put the dishes in a bin for washing against the wall, Vika went over and checked the front door and the first door on the left before heading towards the first door on the right.

Picking up my duffel bag, I slung it over my shoulder, put the load bearing vest under an arm, and followed her through the door. Behind it was a hallway, with doors running along both sides. I went after her until the last door on the left, which she slid open and gestured for me to enter. I set the bag and vest on the floor of the small room, which had just a bed and a stand with a lantern sitting on it, which I set about lighting. Hearing a cough behind me, I turned to see her still standing in the doorway looking at me.

"Melkov, do you mind if..?" She trailed off after a moment. I looked at her for a moment, before comprehension dawned. Vika had been, when she was younger, a pariah from the metro society, sort of like the girl, Polina, that I had so recently met. And now, like when I had first met her, she wanted to be around people as much as possible. She hated to be in a room by herself, and I realized that it must of been torture to be in this compound by herself for a few days now.

"Yah. No problem." I lay down on the bed near the wall after taking off my boots. Vika stepped in, closed the door, and then blew out the lantern. I felt the bed shift as she lay down next to me, though the bed was small enough that she was basically snuggled up to my side with one of my arms around her. Within a minute, I heard her breathing slip into that of gentle sleep. A few minutes later, I was asleep myself, my first day in Polis over.

And, Melkov's onto day 2. Are we meeting on the second day or the third day in Polis?

She said "In about two days' time", which is not this day, but the next day's evening. We can just do it quicker than that if you guys are eager to get out of Polis though :)

As we were walking through Polis, Joe began to make small talk while I put my clothes on." It was really hard to track my sister down. Given that I only visited the metro last year It was even harder to track her do-" Joe told me. I began to turn this over and over in my head like a hard maths equation. My eyes began to narrow as I realised what was strange about that sentence. "Where was he the 18 years or so prior to exploring the Metro?" I thought to myself. I shook it off and kept on walking.

I would imagine that is what we are going to talk over at the meeting, Apollo.

By the way, are Anton and Joe still in day 1?

I'm not in any hurry. It would make story sense that we would take a few days of rest after tackleing D6.
