    Absolutely

I just started playing it through for the 4th time. 2nd time in 3D. Just makes my jaw drop to the floor sometimes. One day, when the prices for quality 3D components come down, i hope you all try it in 3D. It will be a whole new experience for you. I myself am relegated to the used market and am waiting for prices to go down on the 46" display im am waiting on.

While every time one of the characters died was a kick in the chest, I think the ending (of the game) was the saddest moment for me, with the nice music (the enlightened ending) as Artyom sits on the top of the tower with the view of Moscow. Finally after everything he's been through he could sit down without having the responsibility and burden of what he had to do at the front of his mind. I felt like I wanted to be sitting up there with him, looking over the ruined world, but instead we get dragged farther away from the Metro universe as the credits roll. :(

For me the saddiest moments where first level with Khan "Anomaly" i think. It was depressing and sad in the same way, like people who die in the metro stays in the metro FOREVER... The other sad part was when i killed the dark ones even knowing there arent the bad guys (i didnt run away from them in Artiom halusinations and still got the bad ending :( )

Late response is late. Pavel was my favorite companion, you only get to travel with him for like thirty minutes but he's so badass. "Take this you bitches" as he blows himself up with a grenade. What a hero. So yeah, that was my saddest moment too.

When I saw that poor kid laying over his dead uncle, though he seemed to get over him quickly, and when I saw all of my Ranger companions get mauled by "Demons" and other mutants.

I don't know if it's straight sad, but when you enter your stepfather's office and he's all worried about you, and you know you won't come back after Riga, is also an emotional experience.

The Saddest/Most Heart-Warming scene for me was when you return Sasha to his mother. She is screaming before you turn the corner about how she shouldn't have left him, and the guards won't let her go find him because they don't want her to die as well - and you return him safe and sound and it coincides with the music very well at that part, especially if you refuse the ammo she offers as a reward.

Pavel and Bourbon's death, fighting so fiercely and dying such pointless death. I still don't understand why Bourbon hesitated to shoot first. Pavel could have survive but at least his presumed death was more forgiving, having half dozen mutants trying to drag him away. We can only hope Pavel somehow survived and will appear in Last Light.

    In the book metro 2033

When Artyom and Ulman are in the poor station later in the book (I forget exatly where or when) and Artyom speaks to the mother with her child that reminds him of Oleg (I think that was his name). Seeing how poor and desperate she was made my heart clench in sadness and pity. She would have gave her son to a stranger for some bullets.
