This is very true and server technology is a completely different skill set than coding single player games.

Personally I'm enjoying SWTOR but we waited to start until the new year and are taking it slow. There again we never raid so the game lasts until we reach skill cap and are tired of all the non raid stuff.

Also to be fair I've never been in on the launch of a game that didn't have lag. The closest was LOTRO - I don't remember it lagging the first month or so but then they did some update and zoning was horrid for the rest of the summer. What was funny is that LOTRO appears seamless but is made up of a bunch of zones inside larger areas - there was one spot in the Shire where you were guaranteed to get completely hung up walking down the road with no one around.

If GW2 can pull off the massive WvWvW they are promising at launch it will be a major accomplishment. If they can also figure out how to do newbie areas lag free at launch it will be amazing.

Yeah Quitto, I played SWTOR just a bit and my online buds play it. It feels like a single player game with some instances and highly buggy group content. Good game if you look at it like KOTOR with multiplayer options. This isn't surprising because thats their core business.... and thats what scared me about GW2. Massive world pvp is not their core strength. It looks like the anet crew will do it though.

My concerns have now been reduced to: Will racial abilities be usable in wvwvw!

I believe for Structured PVP racial abilities are not allowed but I don't remember if they were ever talked about for WvWvW.

At 4:15 this video discusses WvWvW and PVE skills but it doesn't mention racial skills in particular. Keep in mind that this is from 2010 and I'm sure they've iterated a few times on it.

well if i understood right they dont want to make WvWvW in to an E-sports so skill balance in WvWvW is not important, since the WvW will be imbalanced i dont see no reason why there wouldn't be racial skills in it... but i dont really know
