    Anyone notice the tags? :D

But I think a movie would be interesting. Especially if they show more of the post-apocalyptic surface.

I've read most of your comments and I agree with the majority that it'd likely be a terrible movie unless it's made based on the book not the games, there's no cheesy actors like Arnold Schwarzenegger and they capture the atmosphere and the grittiness of the Metro underground. Also I highly doubt they'd be able to film it in the Moscow Metro because they're really strict about who can go in it etc.

I also agree with this. I've read 2033 in English and 2034 translated from German into English (it was a OK translation but still full of mistakes and took plenty of guesswork to realise what was going on.

So yeah i'd rather have all the Metro books including the fan ones translated to English before a film came out.

    The tags, hahaha! Cabbage!

A Metro 2033 movie could be really really good... if it was in Russia, made by Russians, with Russian actors, and in Russian. Yeah, we can only dream...

Erm,no! Or atleast not by some big greedy studio/corporation (Fox etc.). Big studios tend to mess with the production and even taking away movies from directors if they don't like the direction of the movie (babylon A.D. and Ultraviolet for example).
Maybe some small independent studio like the russian Bazelev's Production (Day Watch,Night Watch). Not to mention the production is going to be cheaper if shot in Russia and won't need 80-100 million dollar budget to make a decent movie.
And like someone said most of the poroduction crew has to be russian,it has to be situated in russian metro. There are pleny of unused not working anymore and abandoned metro lines in the Russian metro that would do the job just fine.Russian director is a must.Like the guy Dzhanik Fayziev that made "August Eighth" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIAZy4wc23w)

Hint: the robots in the movie are just the kid's imagination ;)

And i swear to God if Metro movie ever happens and i see "from producer Jerry Bruckheimer" and "from the director of Transformers" i'm gonna claw my eyes out! :D

They should really make a film, not with hollywood bulllshit with some american dudes speaking in a russian accent. Straight up russian language and actors and filmed on location (Moscow Metro station). Now that's a movie to watch. It's possible that this game or book could make a great movie.

Apparently they are making a film. Well, Dmitry has sold the film rights to the guy that directed Narnia but that doesn't mean there will be a film.

I'm sure that the creator of Narnia paid a heavy load of money for the film rights of Metro. Why would they pay so much money without making the movie? Just so they could make sure that nobody would make it because they don't want it made? I find that less likely :p I think they're gonna make it. Not sure when, but I think they will sometime. And if and when they do it, I think it'll be okay. Narnia was pretty damn good, so I don't think they'll screw up Metro.

MGM Studios have just gotten the rights to a Metro 2033 film, which is to be based of Dmitri Glukhovsky’s novel Metro 2033. The project will be produced by Mark Johnson (Chronicles of Narnia series) and written by F. Scott Frazier, a screenwriter who is relatively new to the business. No other information is available at this moment.
