I feel sorry for everyone who was born in England and never moved anywhere else, because you have never experienced a harsh Eastern European winter. They are really badass. What people in England call snow is so much less than what we call snow in Poland. It's not fair you guys don't get so much; you're really missing out. And I miss it.

    Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd6UIcx_D_c

Not my vid, but I think it's quite well done. So this is a little bit of snow that has already fallen, in late October this year - still autumn. Obviously, not much, but it's a very early start and this is actually in a place which isn't known for huge amounts of snow. The mountains in the south are apparently completely snow-covered, but I'm not sure just how much since I haven't seen it myself.

Weird music, weird voices, weird video, weird people. But this is a good example of a normal winter in Norway:

In fact I do ski, and I'm really looking forward to this season as well
I'll be going to Bad Gastein for the 2nd time, and I had the best skiing day ever in the Sport Gastein three years back, so yes, this oughta be good :p
EDIT: Skaara, from my fairly limited trips to Norway I can tell that is a good depiction of how it is in the winther :)

European winters FTW! :D This is comparable to a full-blown winter in Poland (though not in all parts of the country). I think it could be like that at my grandma's house in a month or two. Who knows. Still, I bet you get a lot more snow in Norway in general, since it's farther up north and in the Scandinavian area. :)

Oh yeah, I have heard many great things about the Alps and I'd love to go there one day. :D Actually, there was even a school skiing trip to go there last year - but it was, unfortunately, a bit too expensive. :( Who knows, maybe someday.

I ski on occasion, but I usually have to travel out of state. Ohio doesn't have many mountains :(

I live in Western Australia. The closest we get to snow is hail, and that is not very fun to play around in.

Aw yeh! Started snowing here a few days ago, and the temperature dropped drasticly from 0 to -10 degrees. After that, it has dropped further down to -15 degrees, and it's probably just getting colder and colder. It's not that much snow, but I think it'll last this time :)

It's snowing like hell right here now. I couldn't see 10 metres in front of me on my way home, and it's probably snowed 15 cm. And awesome thing is, it should stay below 0c all they way till the 24th, so we won't get the shitty, hard type of snow (don't know the english word for it, slush perhapse?) and we will get a white christmas :D
I love this time of yeah :)

Snowed this afternoon where I live. During the day there was barely anything, but still quite a bit for this area. Then in the evening loads more dropped. Everything is white outside now (the snow is quite thick as well - it's nothing compared to Eastern European or Northern European winters, but still something for Western Europe). Looks like English winters are getting better & better! :D

Now I just hope that it lasts. Also, if the roads are covered in ice tomorrow morning, then many students (including myself) and some teachers will have trouble getting to school - which could mean that it will be closed. If yes, then that will be great because I won't have to sit through TWO HOURS of Art and instead will spend time at the park, fooling around in the snow with friends.

Dude, you guys are so lucky. School have never, in the whole history in Norway, been cancelled because of snow. Several meters of snow, and we still have to go to school, while in America, you can't go to school at the first "snow day", when there's 5cm of snow, lol.
