    Isn't that just a myth?

Edit: Yeah I just hit google and had a look on a few different websites and all of them say that it's not true.

Ok I see that now, but it still says the Russians actually did use pencils in space until the space pen came around.

yeah found this too, though can't help to wonder whether it is true or if there is some greedy scheme by the army's regular body armor distributor....

I have now (and always) thought that Russian body armor was always better than American armor but one thing that has always bugged me was it's absents of MOLLE or some sort of integrated mounting system. I'm sure there's some Russian vests out there that have this feature, but most just use separate rigs and such to carry their gear. Although I do REALLY love Smersh rigs by SPOSN, they're so sexy...

However!, with the introduction of the new Russian body armor 6B43 MOLLE is no longer an issue. It uses UMBTS webbing (The Russian equivalent of MOLLE). It out performs the American armor and has a great new digital camouflage.

Ja, Im really liking the New Modernization, we are also likely to see rails as standard on the Ak's as well at some stage (Due from experiances from Ak12 Project, but it is unknown when and how)

I really love the look of the AK-12. It's sleek and clean design and all, but I don't like how it's longer than the current AK-74m. I think there is however another variant of the AK-12 that's shorter (I'll check in a second), I saw it once but remember that I didn't like it's look as much as the original. And I know that looks don't matter in a fight but I find it hard to enjoy a gun to the same degree itpf it looks "ugly".

Edit: welp, I've figured out the shortened version of the AK-12. It is currently being designed and is designated as the AK-12U.

Not surpized, but from what I read awhile ago is that their was a New Ak74 Modernization in the pipeline, hinted at Rail mounting systems and an improved gas tube being the main points

A lot on subject of this thread, I found a series called "Deadliest warrior" on netflix, it takes two warriors from history and compare them after thorough tests of their weapons and techniques. Then they simulate 1000 battles and see who would win.
I was sort of dissappointed to see that the vikings would lose 522 times out of 1000 to the samurai, but then again, the samurai did have sharp as fuck steel blades (compared to the long axe of the vikings)
Also out of 1000 battles with a 5-man Spetsnaz squad vs a 5-man Green Beret squad, only 7 kills would be the difference. Too close to call, if you ask me.

I am actually more surprised the vikings only lost 22 times more than the samura, considerign there was quite a difference in terms of armament, tactics and what not.

Well, thats true. But if you think about it 'Vikings' is a term used to describe a whole people, would be a more fair comparison putting the Legendary Berserker up against the Samurai. But then Im sure we would see a Differnt result (Dont do Drugs Children xD)

I honesty dont trust those show's, theirs no way you can accurately tell who would win

And thats the same problem, very Vague. Spetsnaz is Russian term for Special Forces, Can be GRU, MVD, FSB, OMON, Alpha. And then we also have the problem of Time era as well (as allot changed from the end of the Soviet Union to the Russian Federation)

I honesty think in terms of 'hardness', GRU would win hands down, I remember reading that if you thought their was Russian Spetsnaz (GRU) operating, you get the fuck out, (Was Breifed in the Cold War of course)

Really? I personally don't like it... well, I do, but it doesn't "feel" like a Kalash any more. If we're talking about modernized version of the Kalashnikov assault rifle design, then I would have to say that the AK-103 is my favourite in terms of looks and specs. It has the classic look of a Kalash rifle, but in classy darker shades and is made from lighter materials. It also has the stopping power of the 7.62×39mm cartridge on its side, which the AK-74 lacks.

The Vikings weren't as crazy as everyone seems to think, they're were trained up from a young age to bear arms and they had simple battle tactics like shield walls, etc. I'd say the Samurai just have superior weapons and better individual strength. Edit: I'm no expert on Samurai though tbh, never been interested in them whatsoever.

I agree but they're fun to watch.

I saw a video of Russian special foces (dunno which one) training and one guy's stood with a huge concrete block on his back and some guy smashes a sledgehammer over it and when it breaks the soldier just walks off. The video may have been shared on this forum tbh but i'm not too sure.

Whilst its true the weren't really the berserkes with horns on helmets etc, I'm not sure if they were trained that well even if there was a law that all free men had to have a weapon close to them, sure there were mercenaries and professional soldiers, but most were farmers or fishermen. Only the richest could afford a sword and chainmail or scale armor, the common man went to battle with only their shield as protection.

The American's answerer to deal with tanks of any sort or with whatever needs to be obliterated. :D

The Thunderbolt II, better know as the A-10 Warthog, has a gatling gun measuring 21 feet in length and each of it's bullets measures 12 in, each weighing a little over a pound. Another cool thing about the A-10 is that when it's gattling gun is fired, the bullets that come out of it surpass the speed of sound. So in other words, you die before you get to hear what killed you.

I can't see the photos on my iPad but I'd like to guess what the American launcher is.

    ... Is it a "Javelin"?

One of the things that decided the spetsnaz vs green beret duel was that the spetsnaz mere much more agile, and could easily shoot while moving. The Green Berets were better in terms of sniping, though.
One of the russian spetsnaz guys in the show testified to the pain-training the Spetsnaz go through by having a karate black-belt host punch him in the stomach as hard as he could multiple times. He hardly even grimaced.
"What!? Can't you feel it?" "Sure, I feel it, I'm just absorbing it".
