Lots of jokes that could be interpretative slightly as offensive are being removed. Like your one for the position of the religious leader/

    Oh... *Sad face... Tear*

Edit: What are your thoughts on "District 9", Cerberus? I'd like to know because I myself rather enjoyed the film from a sci-fi perspective.

    Sister My Sister

Adored it! Unpredictable, very unsettling and slowly shifts to something horror-ish near the end.

    8.5/10

Glad to see another fan of the series... I don't care for Alien 3 or Resurrection at all. I think they were crap. Alien and Aliens were legendary films - I enjoyed how Scott and Cameron took the idea in two completely different directions. One is eerie, desolate horror while the other is in-your-face action and adventure.

I'm sure your response is somewhere on the forums, but what were your thoughts on Prometheus? The first time I watched it, I thought it was okay - but after a few other times viewing it, I absolutely love it. I think the Weyland still-alive B-Story wasn't necessary, though.

    The Road

I really enjoyed it but I probably should have waited until I read the book before I watched it. I couldn't wait though, because I have just started reading TLOTR: The Fellowship Of The Ring so I want to read all of The Lord Of The Rings books before I make a start on The Road.

Resurrection, I can understand(*). It's Hollywood rubbish. Cameron's Aliens, while truly a landmark in cinematic history, is my least favourite of the three. I can't stand Cameron's military fetish and the movie itself is just too much of a glorified action spectacle. But my personal favourite is Alien³ Assembly Cut (the true version of the film). It's the darkest and most mature entry in the series. It's got balls by not presenting itself as a forgettable feel-good summer blockbuster. The atmosphere is brooding, its visual style and cinematography exquisite, the dialogues well-written, the characters fascinating and Goldenthal's score for the film is one that I, as a musician, find absolutely mind-blowing. Sadly, it's also a very flawed film but knowing how FOX butchered this nihilistic work of art, one owes it to himself to see the forest for the trees.

As for Prometheus... It's a smart sci-fi flick, smarter than the crap that gets greenlit nowadays, but I think its story is one that should be left to our imagination. Explaining the origin of something just kills the mystery...

EDIT: (*) If you haven't done so already, check out Jean-Pierre Jeunet's other films. They're phenomenal.

funnily enough, im watching 'The Road' tonight. Never seen it before, but i have read the book. You should pick it up vanilla, its fairly short - you can read it in a day - and in fact the preface recommends reading it in one sitting... Didnt think much of the books ending, so will have to see how the film turns out.

So recently I watched A good day to die hard, Operation Argo and now I am watching Fortress of war (Брестская крепость)
A good day to die hard was maybe the worst Die Hard-film to date, because the punchlines were dry, the plot bad and the acting poor. I can't give it lesst than 3, though, because it's an action movie and it's special effects and stunts are good.
A good day to die hard:
    3/5
Operation Argo was way more interesting than I expected and I was really emotionally drawn into it
    5/5
And so far I'm liking Fortress of war, but I'll update this post when it's finished.
