    Elysium by Neill Blomkamp 2013

An amazing movie... if the "powers that be" don't have their way in the upcoming decades (Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley), this is a possible vision of what may come.:tsk::derp::rant: **no need to change the topic though, the movie is entertaining regardless :pop2:**

Red Dawn - About an ex-military youngster who leads a bunch of teenagers to create a resistance against the North-Korean army as they invade America. Pretty good movie. Maybe a little bit exaggerated, but still very good. 6/10

Act Of Valour - Gives you the real American soldier feeling. Goes through three events or so, that are all based around stopping a jihad terrorist. You follow a highly trained american military unit through their mission, which is based on a true story. I loved how you sometimes saw from the eyes of a soldier, holding the M4 and everything. 7/10

The Hobbit, Desolation of Smaug - Very very very good. A lot better than I expected, especially after the slight disappointment of the first movie. I suppose I don't need to tell you what it's about, everyone knows what it's about. I hate how the movie ended in a cliffhanger just like that, and can't wait for the third movie. 8.5/10

Not sure how I missed this, this forum seems weird on how it shows forums with new posts.

And god, I sure hope they don't think that. I mean, all we really see on our side of the pond is crazy dashcam videos and Putin jokes, and I think I'm at the forefront of a generation that's never really considered them our enemy.

Face/Off - Funny actionmovie with a bit of comedy, main actors were Nicholas Cage and John Travolta who are both known for acting as the most twisted characters  But it was a hollywood movie with rediculous explosions, as most other movies. It was funny, though. 6/10.

Beyond Borders - Touching and dramatic movie about some people who do all in their power to support starving people in Africa with food and water supplies, ends up being an exaggerated love story :p 5/10

Event Horizon - Sci-fi horror movie about a rescue crew who's sent to investigate a recently discovered ship named Event Horizon, which disappeared into thin air and was lost seven years ago. I doubt you guys'll see this old movie from the 1990s, so I'll just go ahead and say: The ship has been in another dimension that apparently is "worse than hell", and has brought back some kind of lifeform that is now controlling the ship and makes everyone on it go insane and kill themselves and each other in every possible slow and gory and horrific way like pulling out their eyeballs. Pretty sick movie  4/10.

    Prisoners - GREAT.

This movie is not a typical Hollywood movie with explosions and awesome effects. Actually, there wasn't a single explosion in the whole movie.
There was very very little action. It was a pretty silent and slow movie, but at the same time, it was the most exciting and nerve-cracking movie. I absolutely love how the producers silently teased you through so many scenes. The way they made everything done so slowly when you were desperately wanting for it to be done as soon as possible. They also saved time for exactly that, by skipping some unnecessary scenes where you'd know what would happen. Skipping those scenes also made the movie more calm and made it directly telling a story.

The movie is basically a Crime-thriller about two young girls taken hostages from two families, and the fathers get out of their way to find answers as to where to find the girls, whilst a police officer is also working on the case. I thought it sounded like a typical and not-so-special movie, like many movies before it. But this movie tells a secondary parallell co-existing religious story on the side of the main story, and the secondary story proves what was right in the main story. It's difficult to explain without actually spoiling it; You just have to watch it! PLEASE WATCH IT.

Hot Fuzz- some people may say Shaun of the dead was funnier and I think worlds end wasn't as bad as many people made it out to be but anyway, being from a countryside police officers family it is just great. Maybe you need to know about the absurdity of English villages but it's great anyway without the knowledge

You don't see them as the enemy and I don't but older generations still do, my dad for instance. He doesn't hate eastern Europe but when he was in the army in the 80's, it was hardwired into him that eastern Europe is the enemy and I think much of his generation has that problem because it was only 20 years ago that the cold war ended

I've seen the movie! :)shocked: <Imagine that smiley with no eyeballs and its eye sockets stitched shut). From what you gave it, it seems like you did not like it that much. A movie you might enjoy more is Pandorum. It's on a ship, just like Event Horizon, but with more action and no cheesy special effects.

    Moving on:

The Purge: It's about the U.S. in the future holding 12-hour period, in which any and all crime is legalized, once a year to help reduce crime throughout the rest of the year . For me, it was a little to predicable, but still, a good movie. 5/10

The Colony: Someone here had already reviewed this one not to long ago, so to make things sort, 7/10

In Time: This one takes place in the future where everybody is genetically modified so that they don't age past 25. The catch is, after your 25 birthday, your clock begins to tick (in the movie, its a green florescent digital clock that is embedded into your skin and is visible on the underside of your forearm) and you have a year before you die. There is of course a way to buy yourself some more time to live, and that is done by either working, or stealing somebody else's time. 7/10

Loved Hot fuzz and all the other Simon/Nick duo movies. There movies are always the ones that make you look and listen for the the little things to catch the funniest humor and I love that about them.

Just like in Shaun of the dead

Where Ed is talking to Shaun after having an argument with there roomate and you hear him say in the background "Next time I see him he's dead..." which is a little inside joke if you listened because the next time he saw him (which was way later in the movie, he was dead (a zombie) and he says "Eh, look who it is!" back to Shaun. It may not seem that funny but everyone of their movies is stuffed full of quiet jokes like that and there the funniest to me.

They're just so meaningless. Sure, I love sci-fi and aliens, but I also like movies that has a strong and meaningful story. Not just some spacemarines being asskicked by aliens.

^ @jabba: They say if you watch the director's cut, you'll understand the movie a whole lot better.
