The company's lines were shuffling. Lifting my ruckack onto it's usual resting place with an ample heave, I tossed my bulletpurse over to the bartender with a half-smile, which broadened when I saw the patched old thing rip in his hands, my last remaining bullets bouncing on to the counter.
Rat or canned from now till payday.

I turned, a bit more serious, but still smiling, to Odessa, apologising for my comments on Jet, "My apologies, she is, of course, none of my concern, and you two have my trust. It's a bit uncommon, though, I am sure you concur."

An uncanny sensation gripped me afterwards, lingering over me a good part of the walk, I did not show it; laughing heartily, while looking around at the poor bastards about to head out towards their swine-farms, and the tents and ragtag housing they were leaving behind.
The sensation, however, gradually brought down the cheer somewhat, and left me annoyingly serious.

Pyotr, the cordial man he was, snapped me out of thoughts I did not want to think at all, and I grinned in his direction. "The hooves that tread." I said to him. "I don't think I have managed to settle in these tunnels at all, at least not for long." I continued, without going to far into the matter. "It is almost a claustrofobic feeling; that I can not quite seem to fit here, if you understand."
I looked the man over, and with more thorough checking he was younger than I had thought, something the scars on his face did a good job hiding.
Somwhere far back I recalled a motherly face shouting about how Kids these days are having it so easy. I smiled to myself, as the thought vaned. "And you, friend, why are you here?"

Some speaks had opened up between the Tunas, all of which I blocked out. The whole walk I just sank my head deeper into my helmet until I looked like one of those neckless meatheads you see at the brothel. We crossed into the adjoining station with no hastle, the guards waved us through as we approached having been notified in advance of our arrival.

From there our waiting chariot could be seen in the distance. A shabby motorized trolley with two passenger cars. After we pick up the last Tuna here it's off to the world, finally leaving this shimmering emrald of a city for the dank and dirty tracks of an adventure. How fun!

At least the next time I (hopefully) return to Polis I'll be getting a nice sum of jelly from their coffers. Just imagine all the delicious sausage I could buy with that!

    A lot... That's the answer.

Oh yeah, and gunning down a Nazi while saving the damsel in distress. That'll be fun too, I suppose.

'yes, it is unsual, but sometimes all that eep us from madness can be as simple as a cat, or a teddybear' I smile ruefully to Ilariytch accepting his apology.

*Jet settled onto my neck once more as we headed out to the cart waiting for us. we shouldn't have any trouble on our first leg of the journey, but just in case I made sure my gear was ready to fire at a moment's notice*

'and so it begins. let the Mtero be kind to all of us' I whispered more to myself than anyone else.

I noticed I was younger than the bulk of the people here, but hopefully my 5 years in active service would be useful. My heavy leather boots slammed the concrete floor, the combined sound of everyone quite a powerful image. I polished the wooden the stock of my VSS, a deep rich mahagony colour, one of my proudest possessions. I'd rather have a silenced sniper than a shotgun any-day. The mess is...horrible.

I was thinking about other stuff, the past. Think about know. "I know what you're talking about. I travelled a lot before, station to station, not too long in one, going where-ever the work takes me. I had some employers in Hanza, meaning I worked everywhere with no fixed abode." I took a few breaths, trying my best to twist a positive lie from the bitter truth. "Now, I decided to slow down a bit on paramilitary and focus a bit more on stalking. You know Baumansky Alliance? They're mechanics, and make a lot of vehicles. So they need stuff from the surface. It's a steady job, but before I make the transition, I'm making one final mission." I looked around and us two seemed to be distant from everyone else. "Why do you think we're doing wetwork? Polis doesn't normally send assassination squads, specially to Forth Reich."

We finally arrived at the platform of Western Polis. I scouted around, and it didn't go long before I spotted Boris in the thin mass of people. Most of the inhabitants were located in the center of polis, especially at this time of the hour. The train was standing there, big and majestic, waiting for us to board it. "Polis has the train arranged for us. It'll go directly to any station we want. Come on, let's board it and not stand around wasting anymore time", I said as I began climbing the small metalsteps into the tall traincart. "We'll be going west, to Kievskaya".

I soon saw the group approaching the platform, and a renovated silver train was already waiting for us. Sabrina announced what we already knew - we'd be heading to Kievskaya. There had been some cases of biohazards in the tunnel, so I kept my gas mask within reach and a round in the chamber of my AK74-M. I was oddly comfortable there. In the face of danger, where I could only count on my own ability to survive and complete the mission. I looked through the front window of the train, into the darkness of the tunnel, and a confident smile formed on my lips.

Kievskaya, what a god forsaken place. You could feel it approaching a mile away, even through the thick darkness ahead. 'The city of the dead' they call it, and rightfully so. An evil lurks beyond their doorstep knocking ever so lightly every waking second. Everyone knows wherein the evil sources, yet you never hear more than the whispered breath of a brave soul. Park Pobedy. I really hate being here...

Let's hope us Tuna's can swim through this station as fast as possible, no stops please. Yes, we may be a heavily armed pod of Tuna, but I've heard of bigger pods disappearing without a trace. I stuff my Makarov in my belt, just in case...

Dim light ahead. Guards. Red glow... Kievskaya...

Finally we were off as the traincart began screeching across the tracks. It wasn't long until we arrived at Kievskaya. Luckily, our cart was scheduled to simply drive through the station, with no stops. Unfortunately, it wasn't going to be that easy. It never was. Upon our passing through the center of the station, our cart stopped in a long right-turn. I went forward to our pilot in his cockpit and looked out through the front window. An open cart was blocking our way. I decided to wait it out for a couple of minutes, but the cart didn't move an inch...

Wide awake, I said "Der'mo, it's probably a bomb. Our train will (probably) be able to survive a direct hit, but it will need repairs. What should we do?"

Trouble up ahead... Just great. The one place in the whole metro I don't want to be and it's the one place I'm stuck in. And even worse, were stuck between stations in this sinister passage, the links between the sausage.

"A silence reigns here. Let's keep it that way, lest you want to upset it?" I whispered to Iakov.

"This is... Strange, to say the least."

Getting up slowly and shuffling over to Sab I leaned close. "The setup is right for a smash-n-grab, but the location is ludicrous. Where would such bandits nest? Polis to the East, heavy Hansan guard to the North and south, and I doubt they'd come from Kievskaya the authorities would see it in an instant. It doesn't make sense!" I say in a hush-hush tone. "Scout the cart. Do it quick, do it quiet and let's get the Hell outta here! We'll take both trams to the next station and inform the authorities when we get there. Whatever we do we have to do it fast!"

Arkadia approached and said exactly what I was thinking, it didn't make any sense. I nodded without looking at him. "I'll go out and check it out, you wait here for me until I get back", I said. I dropped outside onto the bumpy tracks with my silenced Makarov, leaving my backpack and pneumatic rifle in the train. Approaching the cart that was blocking our way, I walked over to its side and banged thrice on the door, yelling "Hey, what's the hold-up here?!" No reply, I looked over at the frontshield of the driverhouse of our train, where I had just been standing with Arkadia. I tried to look at him, but the lights of the station reflected in the windshield so I couldn't see through it. Never the less, I was visible from the cockpit.

Suddenly the door flew open and knocked me back onto the tracks. Two pairs of strong, well-trained and nurtured hands grabbed me and began pulling me towards the cart. Usually, I'd be able to break free; I had, figuratively speaking, ripped the balls off more perverted bandits than you could imagine and fought off even more of them, but these men weren't bandits for sure. I knew it just by the touch of their hands. Bandits usually had these knuckly scrawny weak hands.

Within a matter of seconds, they had pulled me into the dark cart and shut the door. Then the cart began moving. It crashed into something, which I believed was our train, before it headed in the opposite direction instead, going North. "Quick, let's get to Krasnopresnenskaya!", I heard a male voice shout hurriedly.

I jumped out of the now-open door, and sighted my Kalash on the two figures illuminated by the train's headlights. I squeezed off two rounds, center mass, and watched as the crumpled to the ground. I motioned for the rest of the team to come out and back me up, in case there were more marauders to be found.

Before ending up in the mysterious traincart, the two men dragging me had been shot and slumped to the ground, but I had yet been grabbed by another set of hands to finish the job. By now, the train was moving, and there was no way to catch up to it by foot. I just hoped they'd catch up to me with the train and somehow manage to stop it before we'd pass the entrance to the maintenance tunnels of D-6...

My muscles tensed up as soon as the train came to a screeching halt. The headlights of our train revealed a train cart blocking our way. Ambush, ambush, ambush. Everything about this screamed ambush, and we had to get out of there immediately. Sabrina decided to go and check out the cart. It seemed irrational to me to do it alone, but she might know something I didn't. I felt the adrenaline rush through me as Sabrina banged on the door tot he cockpit. Before I could even react, the door flew up on her, knocking her back, and she was grabbed and pulled back into the train. Iakov jumped out and started shooting, apparently dropping two of the bandits. However there were more of them, and as Iakov motioned for us to get out of the train, the bandits' cart started moving. It slammed into our train with enough power to take me off balance, and then started moving forward...
I had to think quickly now. Ahead of us was Kievskaya. Armed guards, that would probably shoot the bandits on sight. After that was the blown-up tunnel to Studencheskaya, before... Park Pobedy. No way they would ever get that far, though.
Despite this I ran up to the control panel of our train, pushed the handle that said скорость as far forward as possible, while motioning for Iakov to jump back in. The train started moving, faster and faster. The chase was on.

It happened so fast, one minute Sabrina was walking to the cart, next we were beginning to chase the cart she's kidnapped in. Chyort, this mission went FUBAR too quickly. I raised my VSS and aimed it at the cart ahead. We need to stop it, but how? I looked around for whoever it was that was controlling the train at the minute. I had an idea. Shooting the cart down would cause it to derail, but if we could get onto the cart and pull Sabrina out, it may just work. Adrenaline kicked in, pupils dilated, the hunt was on. The taste of iron in blood filled my head, I had not felt like this in a long time but it felt so good.

"Boris! How close can you get us to the cart?"

Darkbringer gave me an idea - Taking us to the Savage Cannibals of the Great Worm Cult could add some interesting action and a sort of different mission than imagined. The problem is that we'd be taken way off course, but I just realized that Park Pobedy has a secret entrance to D-6. We could locate that, and take the shortcut to D-6's maintenance tunnels.

Pyotr asked me how close I could get us to the cart ahead of us. Apparently the train could only go 55 km/h. We were losing ground to the train cart ahead. "Not... very much closer, I think" I replied absentmindedly, still trying to figure out how this whole control panel worked. "EMERGENCY SIGNAL", "BRAKES", "UNHOOK CART", "HOOK ON CART". An idea struck the back of my mind.
    Hook on cart.
"Any of you guys got some rope or some way to get us attached to the Bandit-train?" I asked the group. I realized the chance of a perfect solution was slim, but maybe some rope attached to a grenade could do the trick.

Iakov could be captured and be/attempt to be brainwashed
I saw Boris motion to me to come back in the train, and I realized what they were doing.
    This was crazy.
He asked the group if we had any grenades, and I remembered I had some in my pack. I rifled through it, picked out an RGD-5, and tossed it to him, saying "Here!"
