The whole tree has to go!

I feel like that too. It takes forever and for some reason, makes my neck hurt because my character is looking up. Does anyone else get that sensation? Anyways, I have played on servers with mods that let me cut down an entire tree, after just breaking one block of it. I really like that and think Minecraft should implement it for at least the more difficult trees to cut.

I hate floating trees, especially in faction/survival servers where you'll almost have to walk 1,000 blocks just to find wood. Floating trees also look very ugly, a floating patch of green. Personally I get that you cant chop all of the logs in the big trees as it is hard to locate the last bits of oak wood, but i hate seeing small oak trees half chopped down.

I always have this feeling. I mostly get this when I'm in the jungle biome where there are HUGE trees. It's a pretty good wood source too, so it's a win win situation. You get wood and you get to chop the tree!

I mean if I left the half the tree it would look silly, but the entire reason I cut down the tree all the way is so that the saplings will fall when the canopy vanishes. You have a better chance to get saplings if you don't hack the leaves away. At least it has been like that in my experience.

It gets a bit tedious when I try to clear the surroundings near my house. But I guess in a survival game, trees are pretty important in building anything to get somewhere in the game.

I only time I would leave floaty trees is when I am really in a hurry somewhere and need some wood fast. Otherwise, I cut the whole tree down.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure its necessary. Although I would quite like a sort of sand block physics, although as you say there would be an issue with wooden roofs. Maybe there'd be a way for the game to notice that though?

I agree! I hate when there are left over wood blocks or leaves. I don't know about you but I think we have the same opinion on how everything must look aesthetically. I want everything to looks nice and neat.

The secret I use is start in the middle of the tree and look and chop. Then look down and chop. As long as you get all the wood, the leaves will disappear on their own!

Good luck with the HUGE redwood trees though....

Yep, it's the worst! Whenever I'm playing vanilla I have to get rid of the whole thing, even if it's not me who chopped down the base and left the top standing. The worst are those huge trees that you have to scour around in searching for any leftover logs so that the leaves all fall.

The treecapotator mod has to be one of the best things since sliced bread. That feeling when you chop down a whole tree in one block is amazing.

From the vids that I have seen, it looks like this would get annoying pretty quickly. They should make it more like in EQN Landmark with the voxels, so that we could hit something and the top part falls down, too. I'm thinking of another game similar to Minecraft, but in 2D. It's a game where you visit another planet and the world is procedurally generated, but I can't seem to remember the name. I think it would be cool if MC was more like that.

I'm the same exact way! The whole tree has to go down for me. I can't stand seeing half a tree left there or just one tree block with a bunch of random leaves in the air. For the right "look" of the place, and to keep it nice and tidy, it has to be taken down entirely.

Yep that definitely bothers me, I always cut down the entire tree, otherwise it just looks unnatural and Ill have to come back later and fix it, because of this my tree farms are always trees that I can cut down entirely without issue.

The left over leaves are really annoying. That's why I chop down the whole tree at least. When I'm cutting a random tree in the middle of nowhere, I don't really bother. I don't mind the flosting trees though. The game itself isn't realistic so why worry about a floating tree. As for chopping down the bottom part and have the whole tree fall over. That's kind of interesting. I don't really think the game needs it, but would be cool nonetheless.

The nice thing about chopping all of the wood is that, due to the algorithm involved with leaf blocks, when you cut down the wood the leaf blocks just disappear, which is really nice when you just want to make a bit of space for your base.

Also, the leafs de-spawning means that the saplings drop automatically, so you can make a super-efficient tree farm using the same principles as a normal farm, just sweeping all of the saplings to a hopper, then into a chest.

My god nothing makes me angrier. I can't stand it when people just leave blocks floating. I have to go in behind them and pile up a dirt tower and destroy the wood or maybe set fire to the leaves just so I don't have that ugly half tree floating.

And guess how my girlfriend chops down trees. Ugh.

I'm just like, it's a game about pure aesthetics. Why wouldn't you landscape while making your castle or tower or whatever. Why do you want leaves floating around everywhere. End rant.

Just use the Treecapitator mod. It lets you chop down the down tree and cuts the time to do so. Basically you chop down one of the trees blocks and the whole tree falls down in pieces. One of my must have mods, the satisfaction of chopping a whole jungle tree and watching it fall around you is so worth it.

I have to finish the tree completely because otherwise it just looks weird.
I would love a mod that would destroy the whole tree if you took the bottom block off, that would be like chopping the tree down...

I run a server and people get 4 day bans for leaving floating trees
